Double Your Income With the Power of the Internet

You can easily double your income by casting your customer/client fishing net on the World Wide Web and bringing in more business. How? By getting a blog, a website, and a twitter account (among other things).

Here are a few quick basics on how to leverage Twitter, a blog, and your own website to bring in more business and double your income.

1. Get a blog. This is a good place to start if you have little experience writing for an audience or networking online–or both. You don’t need any technical knowledge and, best of all, blog writing is expected to be a little on the imperfect side!

A blog is easy to set up on your own sites (especially if you have someone handling the technical end for you…). But you can also go to a free blog provider such as WordPress.com or Blogger.com and create your own blogs literally with the touch of a few buttons.

“But what should I write about?” Don’t feel bad if you’re not sure. A great many popular bloggers wondered the same thing when they first started out–and you don’t have to become massively popular in order to double your income with blogging.

Look at what other bloggers in your field are saying, and how they’re saying it. Chances are they are talking about their own experiences, about news in their fields, and about what other bloggers have to say.

You have a voice and an opinion–make them heard. Write about what’s going on in your field and in your business life. Make sure you read a few blogs in your field and leave regular comments on their posts. This will help drive readers–and new business–to your blog.

(And don’t forget to put a link to your blog in the signature line section of your email settings!)

2. Get a Twitter account. A lot of people still think that Twitter is nothing but a frivolous site where you can tell the world that you clipped your fingernails and brushed your dog. But it has also become a medium for letting people know the latest news in their areas of interest–pretty much as the news happens.

One of the best things about Twitter is that the small (140 characters or less) messages, known as “tweets” have a tendency to easily get passed around the network when they are interesting enough.

This is one of several reasons to tweet a link whenever you post to your blog or add a new page to your website. You can also let people know when you, your company, or product wins an award, and when you are available to take on new clients. It’s also a very good idea to tweet about news in your industry–this kind of thing will make people keep an eye out for your updates.

3. Get a website. Tweeting and blogging are still new concepts to many otherwise offline businesses. So is the concept of a business website to an (ever-shrinking) group of professionals.

Everybody needs a business website. Yes, even you: you need it and you need it yesterday! A business website can easily help you double your income (or even triple it). Not to have a website means you’ll soon be left behind. Which do you want to choose?
