NewsCollective, a website focused on empowering journalists and publishers worldwide to source content online, has announced an invitation-only beta launch. Beginning today, 100 select journalists will be invited to register on the site and start exploring the many tools available to build their online identity, create/ upload/ sell articles, manage their professional reputation and working relationships with publishers and peers, online. The focus markets for the invitation only beta testing phase are India, USA and Sweden of which the invitation round for India starts today.

The media industry is facing a challenge to remain focused on ‘in-depth’ coverage of events and ensuring that information is also presented ‘speedily’. Large media networks are facing difficulties of offering global content coverage with their own staff, and are dependent on the existing news bureaus and newswire agencies.

But with the diminishing revenues in traditional print media, media organizations worldwide are beginning to feel the need for an online news bureau, where they will be able to pick up information faster and from a variety of sources. This shift from the traditional news bureaus to a highly engaging, interactive online bureau will create new opportunities for upcoming professionals worldwide.

Jan Villars, CEO of NewsCollective said, “Sourcing newsworthy content easily from journalists worldwide has become a practical necessity for many publishers to retain their readership interest and have uniqueness in the coverage. NewsCollective.com is created on the idea of connecting journalists with publishers worldwide through an easy to use online platform. NewsCollective is committed to proactively drive initiatives for journalists to showcase their articles with publishers globally creating a market for them. The focal point of our business is to simplify the process of sourcing the content worldwide through a web experience by creating a one-stop portal for journalists to market their content. With NewsCollective, the opportunities are endless for journalists and media houses.”

NewsCollective’s purpose is to create an online news bureau where journalists can market their articles, stories, features, photographs and videos at a fixed price or through a bidding process. These transparent modules help media organizations to tackle the daunting task of managing global information and news at one place, which makes outsourcing easy. Professional journalists on the other hand can decide the price they would like to set for the unique content they have created and negotiate the same directly with the publishers, faster and safer.

Immediately upon registering on the site, journalists can build their professional profile, add articles they wish to showcase with publishers worldwide, maintain their portfolios, respond to publishers’ Request for Articles (RFAs) or submit their ideas for an article, build their professional reputation online and manage their working relationships with media houses and peers. By inviting friends and colleagues to register on the site, they can also build a business network of journalists and publishers they wish to maintain.

This website is slated to be launched officially in September 2010. Once the beta test is complete, NewsCollective will open its doors to others journalists. Registration for journalist to the website is free.
