We tested simple anchor text and blogroll backlinks from a .edu site. Both links were equal in the eyes of the larger search engines but we found something very surprising.

Our experiment included placing a guest post article on a .edu site. We used two links in the article. The first link was in the second paragraph of the article and the second link was in our bio box at the end of the article.

We found that Google found the second link and Yahoo found the first link. There is also another interesting fact – both links were found and listed within two hours of posting.

Our experiment also included an established url and a new post on a relatively young site. We knew the position of each url in the search engines and it was not too flattering to say the least.

Using a blogroll link and a posted article, fresh unique content, consisting of five hundred and twenty six words, we made our entries onto the .edu domain. Both url’s that we promoted advanced to pages one and two respectively within seven days.

Having tested these results by using .edu back links, we found to promote any url on a search engine that a .edu link is a must. Just one link will be beneficial for your site and will provide amazing results, when compared to other styled back links.

So to ensure your back linking strategy is working at it’s best, always include a .edu back link.
