Link Popularity-How to Generate Backlinks Efficiently

Link Popularity-How to Generate Backlinks Efficiently

Link popularity has become so ‘popular’ – for lack of a better word – online lately. The more backlinks one has from similarly theme web sites, the more the search engines tend to favor them in the search engine rankings. This has given great boom to the link building services and the services allowing webmasters to buy high PR links.

So how do you develop the links that help you develop strong link popularity?

1) Exchange links with other web masters. There are plenty of web masters online, many in your niche or market area, who would love to exchange links with you, just as you want to exchange links with them or you can take help of link building services for it.

So how do you do it? Type in your keyword to the search engines, and send a letter to each of the top-fifty web masters for that keyword. Many of them will ignore your email, others will respond favorably.

One warning: place your links on links page containing no more than 20 links each, and link to that page from your main page. NEVER put your links on your main page – you will bleed away too much of your search engine rankings when they come from your main page.

Second warning: Web sites to which you link that have a Google page rank of 0 can negatively impact you, so it is critical that you check the PR of your outbound links periodically, or especially if your search engine rankings fall.

2) Submit your web site to web directories online. You can take help of the link building services for this. There are several lists online of up to 500 web directories; sort them by page rank and submit to the top 100, the professional link building services expertise’s in these services.

3) Write articles, put text anchor links in the articles, linking back to your web pages, and submit them to them top 100 web directories online. Again, there are lists of up to 900 online; sort them according to page rank; helpful hint: there are about 120 with page rank of at least 4.

Social Media Marketing: How To Manage Accounts Efficiently And Stay Sane

Social Media Marketing: How To Manage Accounts Efficiently And Stay Sane

Many organizations and businesses are joining the social media marketing wave, but some are holding back. There is a lot to consider, not the least of which is time management. Is it really worth the time and effort to build such a presence for your group? The answer is probably yes- you just need to go about it the right way.

There are many forms of social media that you can choose to participate in. The first step to get started is analyzing what your group needs, how social media can help you meet these needs, and what end-goals you want to accomplish. There are lots of resources, on-line and in print, that can help you determine the answers to these questions and help you lay out the basis for your social media marketing plan. I’d recommend checking out David Meerman Scott’s The New Rules of Marketing and PR as a start. There are also courses and seminars that train individuals in effective social media marketing, such as the New Media Drivers License course at Michigan State University.

Once you’ve determined the ways you want to use social media, you need to determine what social media tools you should use. There are a lot of options, and they won’t all be right for you. Do some digging and find out which tools will meet your needs. You must keep your target audience in mind as well. If you build a large presence on Facebook but your professional clients are all on LinkedIn you are missing out.
Once you have your plan, and you’ve chosen your tools and set up your account(s), how do you keep the process work from overtaking your life? The trick is to keep a balance. Start slow- don’t take on more than you can handle at the start. Do some “listening” and monitoring, getting into the routine of checking account activity, before committing yourself to particular numbers of periodic posts. To avoid having to visit individual sites for listening consider using a web aggregator, such as Google Reader. This will bring all the traffic involving keywords and phrases you designate to one place, allowing you to read it in a more time-efficient manner. Then use an account management tool, such as Hootsuite, to run your accounts. A tool like this will allow you to post to multiple accounts from one site, as well as set up some monitors on social media traffic.

By setting up these tools you’ll free up time and avoid unnecessary redundant behavior (such as logging in to multiple accounts.) This will allow you (or your employees) to work on other important tasks, instead of wasting time waiting for pages to load. Social media marketing is a great tool for your organization, but you should take care to manage accounts in a time-efficient way so as to optimize your efforts.

5 Tips on How To Use Google Sidewiki Efficiently

5 Tips on How To Use Google Sidewiki Efficiently

Google launched Sidewiki on 23rd Sep 2009 as a part of its toolbar. Google Sidewiki appears as a sidebar in the browser and allows visitors to comment on any webpage. Its main aim was to collect useful information on any webpage from people around the world and therefore lead to better user experience.

For example, a person searching for a local restaurant can see its review in the sidebar by the previous diners.

Google Sidewiki comprises of an algorithm which pulls out the most useful and valuable comments from its database. This ensures that a visitor will see the most relevant comments on a webpage. Listed below are 5 steps for using Google Sidewiki efficiently.

1. Get Started With Google Sidewiki. Sidewiki is available in the options tab of the Google toolbar. Simply download the Google toolbar and select the option to integrate Sidewiki using the checkbox. It appears as a blue sidebar in the browser which slides open when you click on it. Google Sidewiki works perfectly well in Firefox. Although, Google’s own browser, Chrome seems to be having some issues in integrating Sidewiki.

2. Add Comments on Useful Webpages. Adding comments in Google Sidewiki is extremely easy. You need to log in to your Google account and click on the “Make an Entry” link which appears at the bottom of the sidebar. Enter your comments and publish. It is advised to add something which ads more value to the content. If your comment is relevant to the topic, then it can be placed on the first page of Sidewiki for that web page, unless you are the website owner.

3. Claim Your Position At The Top Of All Comments. If you want to place your own comment at the top, you need to verify ownership of the website by using Google Webmasters Tool. If verified, as the page owner your entry is placed at the top entry for that page. The top slot can be used to leave a note for anyone who is yet to comment.

4. Share Your Comments With Everyone. Each comment in Google Sidewiki has the option of being shared on Twitter, Facebook or emailed to any user. This enables everyone to read the Sidewiki entries without using the Google Toolbar. This option is very useful if your web page has received some great comments from visitors. Sharing these comments will pull readers from others streams like Twitter and Facebook onto your website.

5. Flush Out Negative Comments By Blocking Sidewiki. Google Sidewiki does not provide an option for blocking or deleting negative comments on a webpage. Many users have expressed their displeasure with Google for not providing an option for this purpose. If your web page is inundated with negative or irrelevant comments which are harming your website, you can block Google Sidewiki.

Google Sidewiki is not the first of its kind. One of the first commenting add-on, Third Voice was launched way back in 1999. AddATweet and Kutano are plug-ins which can be installed on your browser and let you tweet comments on a webpage.

Despite many competitors, Google Sidewiki has risen to become the most popular commenting tool of its time. Start your week by experimenting with this comment tool.
