Web traffic is a notable measure that determines the web site’s popularity. The web site monitors, checks and maintains an account of which web page is frequently visited by the visitors. This is used to rectify the defective parts of the site and provides a chance to increase the incoming traffic. Several methods are defined and implemented to increase the traffic to the site. Sometimes the same traffic will become overloaded.
Types of Information:
Web traffic is calculated by the respective website to check the popularity. A lot of information is calculated and all these factors determine the incoming traffic to the site. The list of information is as follows;
1. Total number of visitors to visit the site.
2. The average number of views of a particular page in a site. This is to check whether the content is useful to the visitor and how far it can be improvised.
3. Time spent by a visitor on a particular page as well as the duration for which he used the site.
4. Most popular entry pages.
5. Time when maximum members visit the site. This is used to promote advertisements and pay per click campaigns in the website.
6. Most visited external source for the links in the website.
Types of Traffic:
There are two types of web traffic which is differentiated by the factors that determine the traffic.
Organic Traffic:
This traffic is associated with the positioning of the website in the search engine. Search engines use special programs called spiders to collect information and links for the keywords and phrases and this collection is based upon the Meta tags and internal links that a page may contain. The top sites of the search engine get most of the clicks and hence increase the web traffic.
Natural Traffic:
Natural traffic is caused by the primary names of the website. The domain name, by itself, explains the content of the site. For example, if the user is in need of information about bank deposits, he can go to bankdeposit.com instead of using search engines. This is the most preferred one since it saves time.
Ways To Increase Web Traffic:
The site should be optimized using search engine optimization for user convenience. A lot of links connecting other websites should be provided so that bulk of information is gathered in one place. Pay per click advertisements also increases the popularity of the website. Email and offline marketing is used to promote it. Most wanted and relevant information with periodic update of content will naturally increase the visitors, thus improving the web traffic.
Web Traffic-Overload:
When the traffic to the site is increased, access to a particular page of the web site will slow down or even get prevented. This increase may be unintentional or due to malicious attacks.
Unintentional traffic overload is due to the sudden popularity of the web site due to a happening product, flash news etc.
Malicious traffic is due to the denial of service attacks which overwhelm the website with the maximum content so that it cannot cope up.
Access Limitation:
Certain websites have access limitations to certain visitors on certain pages of the site. For such authorization, passwords are used. This is used to minimize the traffic in specific areas. The traffic can also be reduced by minimizing the bandwidth and the number of connections.

If you have recently started an online business, you are no doubt facing the difficult task of trying to promote your website without sufficient capital to do much advertising. It is a catch-22; you need to spend a lot of money on advertising to launch an internet business so that you can make some money, but you need to make some money so that you actually have some dollars to spend on advertising.
To get money for advertising, you could take on a business partner who is willing to fund the company to get your marketing campaign going, or perhaps you could turn to venture capital to get started. However, unless you already have a lot of solid business contacts, raising money for an internet startup can be almost impossible.
So, what should you do? The solution to all your marketing problems might be an affiliate program. With an affiliate program, anyone who has a website can post an advertisement for your business on their website in the form of a banner or a text link. If someone clicks on that banner or text link and subsequently buys your product or service, you have to pay that affiliate a commission on the sale.
The reason why this is such an excellent marketing strategy is because an affiliate program costs you nothing. You do not have to pay to place your affiliate banner or text link on other websites because you are offering those other website owners a commission on every referral they make, but only if that referral produces a sale.
Not only does having an affiliate program give you an opportunity to make a tremendous amount of sales without spending money on advertising, but it also increases the number of inbound links to your website. The more links to your site, the higher your search engine ranking will be. So, a surge in your link popularity and an additional increase in sales resulting from an improved search engine ranking is a fabulous byproduct of having a popular affiliate program.
Now, you need to learn how to create an affiliate program and how to promote it. To create an affiliate program, you will either need to hire a web designer or programmer who has experience creating these sorts of programs, because they are not easy to set up. The job requires a lot of backend programming work, database creation, and payment tracking so that the referrals and sales that each affiliate produces can be tracked with a special code that is signed to each individual affiliate.
To promote your program, you will need to post ads for it on as many online affiliate directories as you can find. Some of these directories will charge you a small annual fee to be listed, others will allow you to list your program for free. There are literally hundreds or even thousands of different online directories where you can add your listing. The more listings you can create, the more affiliates you can potentially acquire.
I hope this information helps you get your online business off to a good start. The affiliates you recruit into your program are almost like your employees, they are doing your advertising work for you, and it does not cost you anything unless they make a sale. All those websites will be representing you, sort of like a commissioned salesperson. Just make sure you hire a competent web designer to do the programming work, because if there are any difficulties with tracking sales to your individual affiliates, you will have a huge mess on your hands.

Usually for a piece of content or a product to go viral, one of two things needs to happen:

Setting up an affiliate scheme for your product and then offering high commissions to the top players in your niche is one form of viral incentive. Another is to give away rebrandable ebooks and software. Another is to use a tell-a-friend script with the offer of a reward for people who “tell their friends”.
Now for the secret tactic that I promised you in the title, it’s a tactic I use and it works!

Now do you see the viral potential? This is a little used viral tactic that can bring big results.
I’ve presented the viral tactic above in it’s simplest form. Even in this form it can be highly effective, but with a simple “tweak” it can bring an avalanche of traffic quickly in addition to the traffic that comes from the improved rankings. All you need is to think big, and think viral.

With that said, backlinks are very important if they are positioned in the right places. Your links do not have to be exactly relevant; for example, a site on garden tools could have a link pointing back to your site on lawn care.
The more backlinks you have the better, simply because it gives your site more opportunities to receive traffic. Additionally, search engines like backlinks and will deem your site as more of an authority.
So how do you go about getting these links? First, the search engines prefer what they term as natural linking. This implies that no one has negotiated to share links with one another. When natural linking occurs, people like the content on the site and link to it without being requested to do so.
However, the challenge is that people have to see your site first to say they like it and furthermore, this process would take a long time unless you had some luck with viral content.
So to get links to your site, you can post comments on blogs and on forums. You can write articles and have links pointing back through article directories. Additionally, you can add your site to web directories. If your site is new, you can do a press release.
Finally, when a link points back to your site, it has what is known as an “anchor text”. This is basically the click portion of the link. People want to know who the heck this No B.S guy is.
I have actually converted sales from my gravatar image many times. Look at all the successful fitness professionals out there. They ALL have Gravatars and they all leave blog comments.
Remember to choose or create an image or photo that SCREAMS your core identity. This is important.
3) Create A Fitness Twitter Page
Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users’ updates known as tweets. If you do just 6 twitter posts a day you can increase traffic to your website or your phone by over 100 hits.
Imagine if you locally started twittering with potential customers answering their fitness questions and inviting them to meet you for a free consult.
You have no idea how powerful this tool can be until you actually take some time and create a page.
Don’t be a lazy bones. The recession is in your head. Money is everywhere but you actually have to work for it…
4) Submit a Fitness Press Release
A news release, or press release is a written or recorded communication directed at members of the news media for the purpose of announcing something claimed as having news value. Some popular press release sites include EzineArticles, PRWeb and Isnare.
The more you get your name and your personal training business on the internet, the easier its going to be for potential clients to find you.
It is so easy to get insane public recognition when you are recognized as an expert by the local media. One simple way is to get picked up by your local news paper.
Find out who to contact for health press releases. Submit at least one per week for a few weeks via email with a friendly follow up email asking if there is anything they need help with as far as expert advice or information is concerned.
Tell them you are more than happy to contribute and are available anytime for interviews as well.
Just plant the seed.
Don’t be a pest, but be consistent. Don’t take no for an answer.
Make a list of 10 social media contacts in your city and start making regular email communication and phone calls to these organizations.
Sooner than later you WILL be a local celebrity.
The key to success is to be known, to be regarded and to be available.
