Finding a Website Designer

Author admin    Category Website Design     Tags , ,

Finding a Website Designer

Website design is a term which covers a wide range of website development activities, from “do it yourself” to paying to have someone else do it for you, mostly the later.

First ask yourself, “How much do I want to spend?”  This will greatly influence who you get to build your website. For instance do it your self websites can be very cheap, or you can very easily spend thousands of dollars or more on a custom website design. Be realistic, and don’t spend more than you or your business can afford.

Second, be clear what the aim of your website is. Ask yourself, “What do I want my website to accomplish?” You must know the answer to this question before going any further. There is an old saying “If you do not know where you are going, you will not get there”.

Thirdly let me say that if you wish to build your own website for about 7 a year, including an e-commerce online store, or if you wish to have one professionally custom designed for you (including the online store) for about 9 on top of the 7, then you can achieve either goal at www.wrsbuilder.com, offered by WRS Web Solutions Inc. WRSBuilder website builder. Both options come with 5 e-mail accounts.

That said, if you wish to shop elsewhere, please look for reference or testimonials from past customers. If possible ask to see a portfolio of website which they have made. Know exactly what the whole website is going to cost you, not just for design, but hosting, e-mail, online store, special forms, etc. Remember that most often when you buy things separately they cost more than when they all come in one convenient well integrated package, such as from WRSBuilder. There is the problem that separate products and services from separate vendors, may leave you in a tough and expensive spot if they do not work well (or at all) together. A single vendor is more likely to have Technical Support to cover any problem. If you are not knowledgeable, you may be best getting a package than trying to integrate solutions from different vendors yourself.

You should also realize that getting the website designed is just one step. You must find someone to host it for you. You will want to make changes to it, and you may have to pay by the hour to have those changes made. With WRSBuilder most times you can make the change yourself, on your schedule and for free.

If you are not using WRSBuilder website builder to look after all your needs, either by building it yourself (and no you do not have to know anything much about computers, if you can find this article on the internet then you have enough skills already), or by having it custom designed for you using the Quick Start Custom Website Design Program located at http://www.wrsbuilder.com/customWebsites.htm, which you can find information on if you take a free 10 day trial, with no need to give a credit card number or commit to anything. You can even provide your e-mail address and have the information e-mailed to you, without even starting a free trial.

As for places to find website designers (other than WRSBuilder), your best bet is to ask someone you know who has a good website that you like, and ask them how satisfied they are with their website. It may be tricky asking them how much they paid, as they may have paid way too much, but if you know them well enough you might be abet o find that out. You can also look on the internet under “website design”. Be sure to ask all the right questions, and you want a quote not an estimate, there is a huge difference between the two. Try to make a list in advance of all the right questions to ask including a few such as:

1.       Website design cost

2.       Website hosting cost

3.       Setup fees

4.       E-mail  account fees

5.       Domain name fees

6.       Currency you are being billed in

7.       Quote or estimate

8.       Number of pages included in price

9.       Number of pictures includes in price

10.     Number of products included in online store

11.     Technical Support Fees

12.     Other costs

No matter who your online store is with there may be some fees for credit card handling, and/or a percentage of the sale.

I hope the above has been useful and educational for you. Most importantly of all do not rush into an expensive website design without really thinking it all through, and comparing costs, or simply try a free 10 day trial of WRSbuilder at www.wrsbuilder.com and try before you buy, doing so may also help you refine your list of questions to ask other designers. May your business prosper.

Foreclosure News – Finding Online Assistance

Foreclosure News – Finding Online Assistance

It is normal to find yourself at a loss if your property is in the process of being taken back by your bank or financer.  Keeping up the latest foreclosure news can really help you out.  Getting legal help may be out of the question especially at this time of need.  There is no replacement for legal advice, but there is the internet, and it is a great source of information to find solutions to your problem.

The best place to search for information about mortgages and home ownership is your state’s website.  You should go to this website first.  Just type in mortgage seizure on the website’s search box.  A number of articles should appear with information about your search.  You can also search other websites, but it is best to rely on your state’s website for updated information.

You can also seek information from lawyers’ sites, those who are experts in foreclosures.  These sites contain great advice and you don’t have to pay any fees.  There was a search done for real estate lawyers that gave some information about bankruptcy and foreclosure, that bankruptcy can put a halt to the seizure of your home.  Not all legal websites will give you all the information you need, but surely the internet will provide you with some, if not all of the answers you need.

You can also easily get a lawyer online.  Although money is a problem, there is always a solution.  (Note: When searching online for foreclosure news and information make sure to use commonly misspelled phrases like forecloser as well.)  There are lawyers who give services for free and there are those who accept staggered payments.  A lawyer is needed if you are being fooled or if your bank or financer is doing something illegal.  In general, seeking legal help when it comes to property seizure is important.

Another good source of information are debt counseling websites.  There is a risk, but they can be of assistance to you.  These counselors may help you negotiate with your bank or financer.  They can come up with a lower monthly payment for you, instead of seizing your property.  Be careful in availing of the services of these companies, though, as there is a number of companies out there that may fool you.  Make sure you check valid information about the company before you even contact them.

You can also find help at HUD government website.  This is the website of the US Department of Housing and Urban development and you can find precise information here.  The website will be of great help.  The whole process of foreclosure will be given in detailed there and you can even talk  to a HUD professional directly.

People who have gone through foreclosure have also written about their experiences online.  They provide details of their trials and successes when it comes to property seizure.  You can go to these websites for more information and also to find out that there is hope.  Getting information from people who have gone through what you are going through now can make you feel better for sure.  To keep up with the latest foreclosure news you must continue your online education and research.

Tips on Finding a Web Host

Tips on Finding a Web Host

Most of the people haven`t spent a lot of time considering what they want their web host to be like. Here are some critical things you should know about finding a web host that will save you time and headaches down the road so you can spend your time enjoying the finer things in life rather than worrying about web hosting.

1) Cost Issues

Free hosting: There are 3 things to consider when looking at free hosting. The first is can you accept not having your own domain name, i.e. if the website is http://WebHostName.com/YourSiteName instead of http://YourSiteName is that going to bother you? Second, can you accept the web host advertising on your web page? Third, there are a lot of free web hosts out there that will promise you your own domain name and no advertising but when you read the fine print what they are offering is a free trial offer. Free really is free but make sure you find out the terms free hosting service is being offered on.

Shared/Dedicated hosting: Here are a few important cost factors you should check on before you sign with a host. Find out if your host offers a money back guarantee and what their refund policies are, whether there is a requirement to sign up for a minimum period and if your package is scalable. That is, if your site grows will you be able to expand the amount of bandwidth, disk drive space, and email accounts that you are using at a reasonable price. If you are locked in to a year contract with a host and you start running over your transfer limit you can really get killed on over-run charges. Watch out for unlimited bandwidth or space offers. The bandwidth offers usually come with an escalating price scale and the space offers usually don’t include file types like .jpg and .gif files and other large media file types. Sure, it’s unlimited, as long as you’re only storing text!

2) Customer Service

It’s a good idea to find out about a web host’s customer service before you sign with them. Make sure they offer 24-7 phone support if you need it. Test their email support as well before you sign up to see what kind of response time they give you compared with what their advertising says. This is a good way to test a web host’s integrity as well. If they promise email response within 1 hour and you wait 3 days to hear back from them you can bet their 100% uptime guarantee isn’t any good either.

3) Registering a domain name

A host should offer the ability to register domain names for you. Ideally your web host will be an ICANN certified domain registrar or be able to tell you which domain registrar they use. Make sure your name, not the host company’s name, is listed as the administrative contact with InterNIC for your domain name. This way you can transfer your domain name to another host more easily. If your host doesn’t provide you with the services they promise and you withhold payment they can hold on to your domain name when you try to transfer it. If the company goes out of business you may also run into problems trying to move your domain name if you aren’t the one registered with InterNIC.

4) Security

Ask the web host about your security if you plan to be involved in ecommerce. Their security should be multi-layered to protect you from today’s hackers. With DNS poisoning, cross-site scripting, URL hijacking, spam, phishing, and DDoS attacks to worry about they should be able to tell you what they will do to protect you from the network side although it’s not the web host’s job to make sure the code on your site is secure.

5) Long term contract

Many web hosts offer a much reduced monthly rate if you sign a long-term contract with them. You are better off signing a short term contract and upgrading before you make a long term commitment. If you sign a long-term deal and come to find out the host is frequently down you will need to buy out the remainder of the contract before they’ll let you switch to another host. It’s better to take a test-drive and buy the long term deal only once you’re satisfied with your host’s service.

6) Server access

Make sure to check out what kind of server access you’ll have and how you will be controlling your site. If you have a web-driven control panel it may not allow you to do everything you need if you are running a complex site or conversely if you just want a simple site with low/no hassle then virtual access to the server and an FTP account may require more technical research than you care to do to get your site going.

7) Figuring out how much Bandwidth you will need

Before you sign on with a new host run some numbers on what bandwidth and other services are going to cost you. The key here is planning ahead and making sure your agreement with your hosting provider is flexible enough to allow you to expand in terms of space, email and especially bandwidth.

As a rough index to figuring out how much bandwidth you’ll need use 10 gigs of monthly bandwidth per 500 daily users you expect.

Check out how much bandwidth or speed will cost and think about how much it will cost if your site really takes off. Flat monthly rates are better than usage rates. If you suddenly get an influx of users because of a new product, advertising campaign, or sudden coincidental flood of Google searchers and your usage exceeds your bandwidth usage agreement you may be in for a nasty shock when you get your hosting bill.

8) How well is your web host connected?

How fast your host’s servers are and how fast your site will be depends in part on the connection your web host has with the Internet. You should ask them how they are connected if speed will be a factor for you. They will tell you something like, “We are using T-1/OC-3 lines.” i.e., Web hosting companies typically connect to the Internet through “T” (Transmission), “OC” (Optical Carrier), and/or “DS” (Digital Signal) lines. Many smaller web hosts still use T1’s to connect your site to the world at a rate of 1.544 megabits per second. The biggest and fastest hosts use redundant, multiple OC3 (155.52 Mbps) lines to offer their clients the bandwidth they need for multiple user sessions on their site(s).

The best web hosts today use redundant lines to ensure that customers’ sites remain up and active, even if their primary Internet connections are temporarily unavailable. It’s a good idea to check which hosts offer backup connections fast enough to maintain your site’s performance in case of a primary line failure.

Of course, as with everything, you pay more for premium service. If you are looking for the cheapest possible solution you may want to make sure your web host DOESN’T have 24-7 phone support, OC3 lines, or the latest hardware in their data-center.

By following these tips you should end up with a reputable, quality, web host and a hassle-free hosting experience. Good luck.

Why Finding Your Niche Is Crucial To Any Website Marketing Plan

Why Finding Your Niche Is Crucial To Any Website Marketing Plan

Niche Marketing – The Greatest Opportunity for a Profitable Online Business

Niche marketing is a strategy that is commonly misunderstood by those new to marketing or those who haven’t really researched its potential. Many marketers miss the fact that they could have the best profit opportunities of their business lives if they got into niche marketing. Obviously, a marketer can promote his product or service in the market as a whole and there will be some sales, but there will be a much higher rate of success when he aims at a specific niche or group of people who already have an interest in what he is offering. Technically speaking, all products and services are sold into specific niche markets. And yet, what is it that leads to a money making niche? Niches that have exceedingly high demand to relatively low supply are ideal markets as these can yield high levels of profits if you can find one. If you stumble upon such small yet powerful markets in your hunt, then it would only lead to long term profits. In this article, we discuss the advantages that you are able to obtain with niche marketing, and what they can do to further your endeavors.

If you focus on a targeted niche market you can strengthen your marketing plan and improve the results of your sales strategies. Those that are trained in a particular vocation, such as computer programming, tend to love it. When you do more and more work within the niche of computer programming, your skills will develop and become fine-tuned, and with this added expertise you will be able to take a more positive approach to your work, which in turn will help you to deal with your prospects more effectively. Promoting to a focused batch of purchasers will further enhance your credibility to your potential clients and customers. If you possess a proprietary company in a niche market, the individuals who choose your services and products would prefer to select you for your expertise, rather than purchase from another competitor that proves to be only a general knowledge outfit. This amounts to just one thing, and that is in targeting a particular niche, you will gather in the right clients.

The most common benefit of niche marketing is that you’re marketing to a group of people who are interested in what you’re offering. As a result, your chances of making sales are much higher. The visitors appearing from your certain niche marketing efforts will prove to be more useful to you than general types of visitors, especially when your website is geared toward a particular bunch of individuals. Essentially, the smaller your target market, the better your chances of success.

Even though you won’t be reaching out to a large number of people, you will be able to focus on a problem are that’s specific and one that isn’t identified by the other big players. For these reasons, it’s just a lot easier to sell products to target niche traffic than to a more generalized group, who won’t have anything personal invested in you and your product.

If you wish to your business to meet with success in the online market, you will need to create a clear cut strategy that orients around a defined niche market with high demand.

Finding Those Hard To Find One Way Links

Finding Those Hard To Find One Way Links

Reciprocal links are links that you place on your site in return for incoming links to your site. Permanent one way links are much better, and will get your site higher link popularity than reciprocal links. It’s easy to see that there are many advantages in acquiring one way links. One way links are great and you need to get quality links, the only draw back it is not always easy getting quality links. The reason why one way links are so important is that you don’t have to worry about the links from sites that are considered bad neighborhoods, what this means is that since your site does not link to the bad neighborhood you do not have anything to worry about. A bad neighborhood is a site that is banned from Google.

One way links will benefit your site the most, but they are difficult to come by. Links from search engines or directories are a form of a non-reciprocal linking. In most cases, inclusion in directories will increase your rank as you get high quality links to your site. Directories are not search engines. Another way to earn more trusted links from web directories is to utilize a web directory where a fee must be paid to use it. Link Directories or web directories are sites that are divided into categories, each category will have many different sites with links and descriptions, this makes it easier for internet users to find what they are looking for. Major search engines such as Google, AltaVista and. Incoming links from web directories are more beneficial than link exchanges.

Writing articles is a great way to establish one way links. Do some research on your keywords you are going to use and include this in your bio. Submit your article to as many article sites as possible with your link. Other webmasters will see your article and use it for content on their sites, the condition is that they need to keep your link intact.

When using an anchor text the search engines match the keyword with the words around it so it know if they keyword is relevant to the topic, plus the search engines look at the site to see if there is a correlation. When you hear the term anchor text everyone is referring to the name that is associated with the link that points back to the website. One way links coming to your site with Keyword Rich anchor text is only true beneficial link. Generating links that contain anchor text will boost your website rankings. Links to your site, using your keywords in the link text are still the key to ranking well today.

You probably heard “Content is King” in all SEO forums and blogs. If a site has many links 25 plus on one page and most of these have nothing to do with the site, this is viewd as a spam site. Of course, great content will also encourage a higher percentage of your visitors to buy from you.

Buying links in the long run can become very expensive, so be careful when purchasing links. The more articles you write and distribute the more links, the more traffic you will receive to your site. One can use this method to try and draw in user traffic as well as use other procedures to bring visitors to their particular site. The best way to increase website traffic is to get the word out amongst Internet users in any way possible.

Finding a Local Web Designer – your Guide From a Sacramento Web Designer

Finding a Local Web Designer – your Guide From a Sacramento Web Designer

I am a Web Designer from Sacramento, CA, but this guide is for anyone who lives anywhere inside the United States or out. The idea behind this article is to tell you why finding a local web designer rather than a web designer hundreds or even thousands of miles away is still a great choice. Hopefully, by the end of this article I will have convinced you that finding a web designer locally has many advantages over the alternatives.

In Sacramento, there are many web designers – both working in firms and freelancers. It is most likely the same in the area you live. Even still, with such a wide selection, many people still opt to find web designers overseas. The reason why is simple – cost! But these days, it doesn’t always have to be as expensive as you might imagine. When I first took the plunge as a freelance web designer, I set my prices remarkably low in order to get business rolling and put my name out there. My prices were a fraction of what most people were charging for comparable services. Even overseas web designers would have a tough time competing with my prices. To this day, I still feel like I have extremely competitive rates. What I am trying to illustrate here is that there certainly are deals to be found – you just have to look! Check the phonebook and call around. Check craigslist in the “services” section. Contact web designers and let them know what you want and what your budget looks like. Many of them would be more willing than you might think to work with you on the price. Try to mainly target freelancers. Freelance web designers are people who work for themselves rather than for a web design firm and, therefore, are usually capable of much lower prices due to the greatly reduced overhead that comes with running a traditional business with employees, an office, etc.

Even if you could save money by hiring a web designer overseas, you really have to ask yourself if it’s worth it. First of all, what about the communication barrier? Are you going to spend more time than you would like in order to insure that the web designer knows exactly what you are looking for? Are you willing to settle with something that maybe isn’t exactly what you want? Granted, this isn’t always an issue, but many people do run into this dilemma.

Being able to meet your web designer in person can make a huge difference. You can sit down with him/her and discuss face to face exactly what you are looking for. This can be the difference between getting exactly what you are looking for in a brief period of time, or getting something that you settled with after hours of back-and-forth dialog between you and an overseas web designer, frustrating email conversations, and unnecessary gray hairs.

In another article, I will go more in-depth in regards to what you need to know when finding a web designer – local or remote. For now, here is a brief overview:

- Negotiate prices. Regardless of what they advertise, most web designers (especially freelancers) are willing to negotiate to reasonable terms.

- Get quotes from multiple web designers. I recommend at least 3-5. However, you should also take into account the quality you would most likely receive from each one – which brings us to my next item…

- Check their references. Your prospective web designers should have a portfolio of work from previous clients. Use their past work to estimate the quality of the work you will receive while gaging the web designer’s skill level. Is their skill level as high as their prices in comparison to the other web designers you talked to? If not, maybe you should scratch that one from your list.

- Decide on a cost for the completed web design project, not an hourly rate. Having a set price for the completed project means you know exactly how much you will pay at the end and removes the risk of paying someone to slack off.

- Decide on a firm date in which your web designer should have your site completed. If you skip this step, you risk having your web designer put your project on low priority as newer and maybe more lucrative projects come his way.

- Ask about “Web Standards” and SEO (search engine optimization). In a nutshell, having a web site that follows Web Standards means you will have a web site that is efficient and highly accessible while performing SEO means people will be able to find your site through search engines (see my web site for more information on this important topic).

Now you’re reading to hire a web designer for your site. If you read everything up until this point, consider yourself educated and prepared. I wish you the best of luck in your web design adventure, and just remember to have fun with it!

How Do You Go About Finding an Internet Marketing Expert?

How Do You Go About Finding an Internet Marketing Expert?

It never ceases to amaze me how many otherwise intelligent people set-up a website, without any type of plan or clue about how to promote it, how to write a sales letter, how to write an ad–nothing! Fact is, nowadays, anyone can have a website. But once you get one, then what? How are you going to make money with it?

If you don’t know what you’re doing, then do the smart thing and hire an Internet marketing expert.

What? You say you can’t afford to hire an Internet marketing expert. Well, believe it or not, there are other ways to hire an Internet marketing expert, besides paying an expensive flat rate or hourly fee. For more details visit to www.outsource-beginners.com
You can hire an Internet marketing expert by simply buying his products. So, why should you buy his products?

Because Internet marketing experts are masters at marketing. They’ve already arrived at the place you want to get to. They also derive great pleasure from sharing their incredible knowledge. They have the answers to every single one of your questions. All you have to do is ask them.

However, you shouldn’t expect any Internet marketing expert to spend their valuable time mentoring you for free. Like I mentioned earlier, at the very least, you have to buy their products. I mean, let’s get real. You wouldn’t walk into a doctor’s or lawyer’s office and expect to get free help and advice.

Well, Internet marketing experts are highly trained professionals as well, and deserve to be compensated for their time. And some of them will offer you some sort of limited consultation, if you buy their products or use their service.

So, how do you go about finding an Internet marketing expert? It’s actually a lot easier than you think. Most of your top Internet marketing experts are very high-profile.

You can find many of them by reading articles like this one. That’s right. Many Internet marketing experts write articles. Not all, but most do.

In fact, you should read lots of articles anyway. Not only will articles help you learn, but you may also find a writer you like. And by finding a writer you like, you just may find an Internet marketing expert you like.

When you find a writer you like, make sure you check out his website carefully. If he doesn’t have a website, don’t consider his services. Why? Because you can’t learn Internet marketing from someone whom doesn’t have any type of presence on the Internet.
A website is critical, because there are certain things you need to look for such as:

Does the website have a strong headline and sales letter? Even if you don’t have any experience in this area, you’ll be able to tell right away, if the headline and sales letter are effective. For more information logon to www.tube-pros-espects.com .How? Because if the headline is able to pull you into reading the sales letter, and the sales letter keeps you interested and makes you want to buy whatever’s being offered, chances are, both the headline and the sales letter are effective. Other important things to look for are:

Is their website design professional? Is it attractive and easy to navigate? Or is it busy and distracting?

Do they have their own domain name, or does it contain the names, ‘Geocities’, ‘Angel fire’ or ‘Tripod’?

Can they back up their claims with cold, hard, indisputable and verifiable facts?

Do they have their name, telephone number and street address on their website?

Do they use authentic customer testimonials, complete with first and last names?

Do they make it easy for you to purchase their product or service?

Do they offer a fair and reasonable money-back guarantee?

If the answer is ‘Yes’ to every single one of the above questions, congratulations! You may just found your Internet marketing expert!

Getting the highest ROI (return on investment) for your marketing efforts is the ultimate goal of internet marketing. But with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) pricing models all across the board, it may be like trying to find a needle in the haystack.

The Search for Competitive SEO Rates

The search begins (for most businesses) by locating a qualified SEO company that specializes in the types of services you require. Some SEO firms specialize in PPC others prefer Organic SEO, while other firms are more versed in custom SEO Web Design or link building services.

Even after you refine your choices, is your business ready to embrace SEO or the changes that may be required in order to polish your value proposition and step up your collaborated marketing efforts?

Sometimes you have to let go (of an older site or an older approach that has seen better days) and work with a medium that is more pliable, modern and efficient for acquiring long-term benefits in search engines.

Otherwise, the approach of putting lipstick on a pig is an unlikely combination for producing viable increases in conversion (as customers are less likely to fall for the facade). Even with traffic, if your site has poor navigation a bad color scheme or is screaming “hey I’m from 1999″, then no amount of SEO is going to make things right.

Much in the same light, if you want to tune/optimize your site for top 10 positioning, honing your websites programming platform and writing some fresh content is a starting point for optimization, but it is a pivotal milestone at best. SEO is a holistic process involving hundreds of layers of coordinated components (for those who dominate the top 10) and cutting corners just keeps your pages that much further away from reaching the top.

An objective analysis using a problem / solution based approach can help to shed light on this matter.

1. The Challenge – The company or individual is starting fresh with limited content or web presence, has no clue about content or relevance yet wants to rank in the top 10. This is definitely the most difficult starting point for SEO.

In this scenario – Your looking at 6 months (minimum) to make an organic impact in a larger playing field and more importantly, you will have to work harder to play catch up by augmenting your site with content (articles, offers, promotions or links). Not to mention you will need to receive endorsement from the various piers in your industry in order to establish trust in the eyes of search engines and get a real lift into the top 10. By far the most costly endeavor (be prepared to spend 20-30K to truly compete in a competitive market 5-10K to establish moderate keywords over 6 months).

2. The Challenge- Website exists but has sparse content or hasn’t changed it in ages (challenging, but with an infusion of content rankings can be developed).

In this scenario – just working with the existing content is a plus, you can tweak the code, optimize the internal links as well as add a blog and start developing inroads with search engines and new potential clients using social media, RSS feeds and viral marketing to kick up exposure for your brand.

3. The Challenge – The company is active online, has a website and uses PPC advertising (at least they are in the ballpark and understand the art of the deal and how to hone your pitch and make adjustments to fine tune conversion).

In this scenario – The company has a great start, has a degree of online branding and visibility in place. For starters the website will require a bit of polishing through a content development strategy (x amount of posts or articles per week), some targeted SEO copy writing to pull it all together (5-10K well spent could bolster the organic rankings you seek).

4. The Challenge – The company has an understanding of internet marketing, has honed content that is experiencing marginal results but needs direction and traffic (the ideal SEO client).

In this scenario – The suggestion would be to start fresh, create an all out assault using a new site, a giveaway or promotion, a full scale link building campaign and 6-8 months of targeting a series of a high flying traffic bearing phrases to grow into (expect to spend up to 40K to get the exposure, but what you stand to yield by comparison is well worth it).

Starting fresh (with a new site) allows you to clearly identify competitive keywords and factor them into the site architecture, so even when the site is in between links flowing in from external sources, the age factor alone from it’s own dynamic internal links can push it up the ladder.

Just like traditional marketing, exposure is one of the metrics used to determine if the campaign is yielding a high degree of relevant traffic, generating solid leads or conversion for your efforts.

Price is commensurate to exposure, but only as long as the visibility can be leveraged and the results have the ability to warrant the cost. With prices ranging from a few hundred dollars to up to ,000 dollars for an SEO campaign (from a large SEO firm). What matters the most is determining where you are (in your marketing stance), where you want to be (the end result desired) and what your budget is to set the stage for hitting the search engines running using a small business SEO campaign.

Most typical SEO / Client relationships start like this. The prospect (who has marginal visibility for a narrow range of keywords) wants to extend visibility for their site and funnel additional / relevant traffic by adding competitive traffic bearing terms to their pages.

Nine times out of 10, this impulse was inspired as a result of an emerging competitor dominating the top 10.

So, with the “why should they get all of the pie incentive” the prospect starts screening SEO companies to assess the benefit to cost ratio and potential return on investment. Unlike their corporate counterparts who may have millions to allocate for marketing or internet marketing, a more realistic budget for most businesses is -30,000 per year, granted that they can double or triple their return on investment.

However, you have to weigh the pros and the cons and understand that the long term investment of time, energy and optimization take time to mature and to fully appreciate the impact it can have on a local and national level takes patience (no matter how much you spend).

SEO is not always the ultimate solution, not all traffic converts, so sure you could have a top 10 position for a less competitive phrase and just break even, or you could go through the natural stages of adding a strategic array of traffic bearing keywords until your site gains enough authority to finally hits the top 10 like the big dogs (for multiple terms) so you can recover your investment.

So as long as you understand it is all about visibility and pairing your produces or services with those who have a need for it, as long as your value proposition is polished tried and true you chances of success are far greater than just waiting for traffic to beat a path to your door.

But before considering SEO, I encourage small business owners to consider an objective analysis of their motives for wanting to compete, but also for creating a game plan that is realistic for their stage of the game. One model suggests allocating 10% of your total revenues is a fair percentage to dedicate to internet marketing, for others up to 20% is the norm.

Aside from being ready to handle the influx of new traffic and leads you should (a) have a product that is worthy, (b) have invested in a professional and compelling website that encourages engagement and sales conversion, and (c) above all else has an alternate method to augment sales aside from strictly using online promotion.

This way, in all fairness you give optimization the ability to systematically increase traffic and exposure the way it was designed (over time).

It requires multiple rounds of SEO in the beginning (to jump start a campaign) as well as a maintenance factor to ensure your rankings don’t slip as a result of competition, changes to algorithms, or market conditions.

So, when considering a time line, it is always better to work on 3-6 month blocks to track your results after all the dust to settles so you can gauge just what steps are required for the next quarter.

There will be exceptions (if you sell e-books or gadgets for example) but the bottom line is if you have the margin and you are experiencing a slow season, then SEO is a perfect way to augment visibility in your niche that if performed properly is one of the most cost effective advertising mediums in existence.

My suggestion is, for anyone interested in optimization to educate themselves about the basics, the more information you have, the more informed your SEO company can involve you covering all of the steps along the way.

A good SEO company can perform keyword research, competitive analysis, perform some reconnaissance to determine which phrases have traction for your competitors and emulate a strategy for you.

But the real value in SEO is to establish authority for your site, so that instead of the old, “let’s build some links”, mentality, you can accomplish more by adding one page to your site that would have taken months of SEO work from a nuts and bolts worker bee mentality.

When you optimize a keyword for a website, you are in fact targeting the type of consumer who would type those keywords in a search box, so by the very nature of the phrases, you can determine to a great extent the motives of the visitors that frequent your pages. Another important lesson is, be where your at, but make sure you aim high enough for the main root phrases and climb that ladder over time.

Although many may find it discouraging that many SEO companies will not reveal their SEO rates online. Mainly because the shock value for those with the Mc Donald’s mentality walking into a five star restaurant (with the four dollar burger mentality) similarly may have the same alarming reaction when they get the bill.

If you can see the value in SEO, then at some point, you will inevitably have to put your money where your mouth is, learn how to do it yourself (which is not always the best use of resources and time) or just skip the whole SEO thing and be happy where you rank.

The statement that you get what you pay for is merely one side of the equation. Just because you pay ,000 for SEO services doesn’t mean that you could not have received the same results for ,000 respectively.

But in all seriousness, how many small businesses have that kind of capital to invest? The answer, the ones who performed some due diligence, found their stride, identified a market and used SEO as a means to reach a larger more targeted audience. That is the value of competitive SEO and competitive SEO rates.
