Start a blog and post to it faithfully every day. Because of the content, it becomes bait for your audience.
Together, with the structure of the website, it becomes a mechanism for more search engine to come to visit your blog.
Most internet marketers do not make use of their blog to build rapport with their future customers and prospects. Consider yourself of any business transactions-you rarely buy from someone the first time you met them. Am I right?
Of course, unless the seller is one big name companies or brands who are well-known and trusted because of their size, popularity, most buyers would take some time to assess whether the seller is indeed trustworthy and whether they really are the expert in their field.
A blog is one of the best methods for building trust and relationships with potential visitors. This is your chance for you to portrait yourself as a real human behind your email messages and websites.
A blog need not be always a blatant sales pitch all the time. Use your blog to give your prospects good advice, recommendations and information about your industry, community and your products and services, even if there is no monetary reward for you. In this way you will become well-known or has become a “Guru” in your area of expertise.
Another use of your blog in your email marketing campaign, is to leave relevant and usefulness comments on the blogs of others that belong to your niche market or industry.
Big mistakes made by bloggers that they tend to populate their sales pitch in other people blogs or in forums.
Most forum owners do not take lightly of such rouge tactics and you will get banned. You should not be viewed as spam and it should not be self-serving.
These really popular blogs have thousands of regular readers daily and this would lead them to your site as you would have included in your signature file your domain name and a link back to your blog or web site. This is counted as one of those “inbound” links that search engines seem to value highly.
Blogging complements your email marketing campaign as it both builds and drive traffic.
It is even better if that traffic is qualified and they are in the mood to engage, to trust you and buy from you.

Many people know that internet marketers make a lot of money. It is one of the best paying jobs in the world provided that you do it correctly.
Most of the elite multi-millionaire internet marketers out there would have begun their career as small time affiliate marketers. Just like any other job or business though, there are traps and pitfalls that can get in the way of your success.
So, to help you to avoid these obstacles and allow you to become a leading internet marketer I have listed the biggest and most common mistakes people make:
Quitting too soon:
Mark my words: internet marketing will ALWAYS work. If you have already quit, then you have quit too soon. It could take a few weeks to get started and it may even take a few months before you get your first commission but I can promise you that it will always work.
Gaining momentum at the start is always the hardest part. Once you get the ball rolling, things pick up very quickly and become a lot easier. However, you must not quit – you have to keep going until it works.
Even once you begin to earn a steady income you must not quit. The internet marketing landscape is constantly changing and you need to keep yourself up to date with the latest information tactics.
Not Writing Enough:
Another big mistake that people make is that they do not write enough. You need to write every single day if you are going to be a successful internet marketer. You can get someone else to write for you if you want but the simple fact is that you must submit articles to article directories on a regular basis.
Constantly providing fresh and valuable content means will be looked upon favourably by the search engines. You will also bring in more traffic and create valuable backlinks to your site.
Losing Focus:
This is the biggest mistake that internet marketers make. It is also the mistake that most of you will make. You will start with one niche (or strategy) then see another, lose focus and quickly jump over to the other niche without even seeing the first one through.
Experienced internet marketers work with many different niches or strategies and usually do so very successfully. However, they will have always started out by focusing exclusively on one niche and becoming successful in that niche BEFORE branching out to the others.
Always begin with one niche and stick with it until you know it inside out. Many bright new shiny opportunities will appear and distract you but you need to ignore them. Keep focused on the goal ahead and concentrate on monitoring, testing and tracking your progress until you become a success in your niche.
Many people start internet marketing because they want to get rich. If you choose to start you too can make astonishing amounts of money. However, please realise that it is not a walk in the park – internet marketing takes a lot of time, hard work, learning and application. You must treat your internet marketing business as a BUSINESS if you want to succeed.

Landing page is typically used to describe the page where visitors are brought on clicking an Internet advertisement. This page has to be well thought out and executed to achieve the marketing goals. The key objective of landing page is to produce a conversion whether it is a sale, a sign up, or just a lead. In other words, a landing page is also a sales page, where the call for action occurs. When the landing page is not designed well the conversion rate is reduced significantly.
Common Mistakes of Landing Pages to be avoided
The following are some of the common mistakes of PPC landing pages that should be avoided.
• Your page may be too clustered – It distracts the visitors in their search and can even divert your conversion. If the content, images or the popups of your landing page are clustered, there will be a negative affect on the conversion rate.
• Multiple calls to action – There shouldn’t be more than one or two calls to action, else it creates confusion in the minds of the visitors.
• Irrelevant text or description – Keep the content short, simple and on the topic. Any additional unrelated text on your landing page can dilute the message. Generate an effective call to execute on the landing page. Conversion should be made simple and easy, as there is little time with the visitor for the conversion.
• Incorrect information damages credibility – If the facts on the landing page are incorrect, there is a possibility of loosing credibility with your customers. Ensure the information provided on the landing page is correct.

More and more I see sites that are using inbound links in the footer. The idea of creating a list of inbound links is a great idea (you can help distribute page strength) but it’s become increasingly clear that the footer is no longer the place to keep them.
Search Engines might devalue Footer links.
An interview with Yahoo’s Priyank Garg reveals they might devalue footer links. There is also speculation that Google might penalize sites for too many Footer links. Not to mention numerous reports from webmasters (including myself) that they have seen a jump in rankings when inbound footer links are removed.
Footers have terrible CTR.
While I doubt that webmasters place inbound links in their footer in the hopes of directing traffic, the truth is, nobody clicks on them. Consistently we’ve seen that footer links are almost never used by visitors.
Footers can lead to unhealthy link totals.
The amount of juice passed by a link is affected by the number of links on a page. Many sites have dozens of links per page and adding more links in the footer can negatively affect the strength gained from each link. This is also something to keep in mind when evaluating the value of a link in general – try to stay away from pages with over 100 outbound links.
Use ‘nofollow” links instead.
If you must use links in your footer, think about using some “nofollow” links. I’m sure there are some pages on your website that you wouldn’t want gaining in page strength (policy pages, forms, etc.). “nofollow” links are not recognized by search engines and thus wont negatively affect your page or link strength.
Make functional Footers.
Don’t just stuff links into the footer of your website. Make them look attractive and provide a functional purpose. There’s nothing worse than seeing a footer jumbled with inconsequential links. Try placing relevant links in your footer, or separate them into categories, your visitors will be much more inclined to use them.
This is a very common mistake perpetrated widely throughout the online community. Footers might provide functional aspects for larger websites but most websites simply don’t need them. Additionally, the fact that search engines might devalue these links might convince webmasters to stray from this practice.

Do not commit these mistakes while developing a Website Design

When you get to make a website for yourself, it is natural to get excited and exhilarated. After all, you are giving your business, profession or vocation a face that will be shown to people around the world. In order to make a site which attracts the visitors and drives them to be your clients, it is important that the web design is effective and persuasive enough to help you meet the objectives. There are a number of tips and suggestions on the net on how to imbibe certain elements of effective website design But, there is very little information on what shall not be done.
Do not go for ‘maximization’
In order to attract the people on the site, you shall not give way to your sentiments and give an overdose of the elements of web design .It is not advisable to use a number of colours without any clearly established colour scheme or an organized pattern of colour usage. Similarly, too much playing with the font types and sizes will make the eyes of the visitors rivet around without focussing on the site content. Too many graphics and the filling of the webpage space without proper organization of the content will make a shabby look of the website design.
Do not focus solely on the landing or the home page
It is true that home page of the site is of immense significance. It shall contain the links to the whole site and even the deep link pages shall be only a few clicks away from the home page. But, it is wrong to put all your creative energies on one page only. The other pages shall be equally well balanced and bear imprints of professional work.
Do not ignore search engine friendliness of the site
The websites are increasingly being promoted on the search engines nowadays. If you do not make a search engine friendly design, then there will be problems in making use of the SEO services. A good web designer is capable of incorporating search engine friendly elements in the site. You shall not leave this or any other important task for the future. Similarly, it is wrong to ignore the internal links plan and the ability of the site to let the search engine crawlers crawl the site without any hiccups. Therefore, it is advisable not to include flash animations or other heavy files which can increase the loading time of the site.
Do not design a site element that looks like an advertisement
Serious visitors are after your offerings. Their navigation is goal-based and they do not want to the advertisement on the site. They will simply ignore those parts of the site which look like ads. So, you shall not commit this mistake of incorporating any such element on the site which looks like an advertisement as there are chances that it will be ignored by the visitors.

Huge Mistake #1: Creating a Website with Flash — Did you know in a recent study, top internet marketers discovered that having a website created with Flash, actually decreased the response from prospects and customers by as much as 370 percent?
Here’s why: Your prospects and customers are most likely visiting your website using all types of different computers, connection speeds and internet configuration settings…
What may look great to one visitor may not even appear for another! You could very easily have shelled out hundreds or even thousands of dollars to have a website created using the Flash technology, only to find out that some of your visitors will never see it! (Not to mention the loading times can cause your visitor to close your site, never to return again.)
Huge Mistake #2: The “Internet Catalog” Approach — You see this everywhere. Good, honest and hardworking businessmen and women get online to sell their products or services, and have a site created for them that contains a link to just about everything they offer on one page. Their thinking goes along the lines of, “…well, I don’t want to leave anyone out. If they come to my site, I want to make sure I have what they’re looking for…” — This way of thinking could not be further from the truth.
Here’s why: There’s an ancient rule that goes back to the very beginning of direct-marketing on the internet, taught by the richest, most legendary and well-respected internet marketers of all time…
“When you give your prospects too many choices, they become confused and aren’t sure what to do next. Confused people never buy anything.”
Huge Mistake #3: Optimizing Your Sales Site for the Search Engines — You’ll see this taught in nearly every “internet marketing” course, manual or eBook out there… “You must optimize every page of your website for the search engines!” — In fact, this false teaching is accepted as ‘gospel truth’ so often that most web designers will offer to do this for you at no, or little extra cost…
What they don’t understand is that certain words and phrases must be either re-worded (to make it “keyword rich”) or taken out completely, just to be looked upon highly by the mighty search engines — and this could kill your sales, literally overnight.
Here’s why: When you or a hired web designer optimize your sales page (i.e. any web page designed to sell your products and services) to get a higher listing in the search engines, you’re going to have to sacrifice the pulling-power of your sales copy (i.e. written sales material) just to get those higher listings. Sure, this can bring you more traffic — but what good is all the traffic in the world, if your visitors arrive at your website and aren’t compelled enough to read why they should order your product?
For years, it has been taught that you should always try to find a “balance” of SEO (Search-Engine-Optimization) mixed with promotional copy designed to sell your products and services…
Wrong Again! — The truth is that you should never optimize your sales page for the Search Engines. Instead, you should create tiny “entry pages” for each keyword related to your product or service, (highly optimized for the Search Engines) and have them link to your main sales site! (We can show you exactly how to do this quickly and easily and get *massive* targeted traffic from the Search Engines – without ever *touching* your sales site!)
Huge Mistake #4: Having a “Graphics-Based” Website — Sure, graphics can certainly help us to visualize a particular situation or circumstance, product or service… But did you know that having a graphically-driven website can actually distract your visitor away from your sales message?
After all, your sales message (or “web copy”) is The #-1 most important factor in a website that makes money. If your visitors are paying more attention to your “professional graphics” than your sales message… you’ve just lost another sale.
Here’s why: You’ve got approximately seven seconds from the time your visitor arrives at your site, to the time they decide whether to buy your product, get more information or leave. If you’ve got a graphically-intensive website, your website will most likely still be loading past your seven-second time limit.
That’s a “customer-killer” in and of itself – however, the real reason lies within the fact that the bigger, brighter and more beautiful your graphics are, the more they will distract your visitor from your sales message. And if your visitor is distracted even for one second, it could mean the difference between getting a sale, and losing a customer.
Huge Mistake #5: Designing a Website with Zero Marketing Experience — Most web designers have no idea how to make money on the internet, with anything other than their design services. It’s not their fault – they simply have no or very little marketing and sales experience. After all, they’re just website designers…
However, having your website designed by someone with Zero internet marketing experience is like buying a street-car without an engine… it won’t go anywhere, and it’ll just waste your time and money!

Don’t Make These Web Hosting Mistakes

Many people, especially newcomers, when they register their domain names, are convinced to sign up for a hosting account with the company that registered their domain name. That could be godaddy.com, yahoo.com or any number of other domain name registering companies. That’s really unfortunate, because the hosting services those people usually get don’t generally meet the needs of an online entreprenuer. Those hosting accounts just lack the functionality you really need to promote your business.
Here’s what happens – the domain name registering companies will make you an offer of a low level hosting plan. Since the customers that are registering the domain names are usually beginners, they aren’t aware of all the hosting choices that are readily available elsewhere. They think that just because the company they’re dealing with can register domain names, they must have the best hosting too.
To make a large story short, people that buy into the hosting that’s offered when they register their domains are usually disappointed once they get started with their new online business. Although they got what seemed like a low price, they’ll find out later, when they compare it to other offers, that it really wasn’t such a good deal.
But that’s only part of the problem. As they become more and more involved in running their new online business, they discover that there may be some special software that they want to run on their website. Perhaps it’s a shopping cart or maybe a content management system. When they look at the requirements of the software and compare those requirements to their hosting account, they’ll see that their hosting account won’t support the new software. You see, most marketing related software will use PHP or mySQL databases. If your web hosting account doesn’t support PHP and mySQL, you’re just out of luck.
Of course, these customers can go back to their hosting provider, who will explain to them that the features required for support of the new software are available to them, but they’ll have to ‘upgrade’ their hosting account. And the upgrade isn’t free, by the way. Their original hosting may have cost only .95 a month, but the new, upgraded hosting will cost them or a month. Now, all of the sudden, that great hosting deal doesn’t seem so great anymore.
Don’t waste your time and money with ‘bargain’ web hosting that won’t do the job.
Another mistake is trying to run your business with free hosting. First of all, if you’re looking for free web hosting because you’re not willing to spend a small amount of money for your own web hosting account, you might as well just give up right now. If you want to do everything for free, you’re not looking for a real business, you’re looking for a hobby.
Usually, when you go with free hosting, your website URL will end up being something like “freehosting.megacities.com/18987/~parkavenue/1793″ If your only interest is in having a place on the web to display your family photos, maybe the free hosting is right for you. But if you’re trying to run a business, the free hosting can be a big handicap. For one thing, the URL doesn’t look very professional.
And the free hosting companies tend to display their own advertising banners on the pages of your website. How does that look to your potential customers? Just imagine that if you’re trying to operate a family oriented business and when prospects visit your website, banners advertising “Adult Chat Rooms” are on your pages.
Types of web hosting – Primarily, there are 2 different types of web hosting. One is Microsoft Windows based and the other is Linux/Unix based. My personal recommendation is to stay away from the Windows based hosting. I’ve had friends that went with Windows hosting, and then later found out that much of the software they wanted to run wasn’t compatible with the Windows server. Most all web based software that is used for marketing purposes is designed to run on Linux servers, so I wouldn’t recommend anything other than Linux based hosting.
As we’ve established the need for Linux based hosting and that you shouldn’t get hosting from the same place you registered your domain, the question is – Where do you get hosting?
I’m going to let you in on a small secret – all those banner ads and email messages you probably see pitching hosting deals – IGNORE THEM. The absolute best hosting I’ve seen is available at dirt cheap prices on Ebay. Yes, Ebay, the online auction.
Just go to www.ebay.com and search for “web hosting reseller” By getting a reseller’s hosting account, you’ll get all the hosting you’ll ever need. Here’s how it works – A reseller’s hosting account gives you the ability to sell hosting accounts to other people. One of the benefits of a reseller account is that you can usually host an unlimited number of domains.
Right now you may be thinking this isn’t for you because you’re not interested in selling hosting to other people. You just want hosting for your own business. That’s OK, you don’t need to sell hosting with the reseller’s account. You can just use it for yourself. You can use it to host the new domain that you recently registered and then, later on, if you register more domain names, you can host those also – without paying any more money for hosting.
I bought a hosting reseller’s account on Ebay about 3 years ago. It’s full featured, reliable, and the service and support is great. I pay 9 a year and I currently have about 95 domains hosted. Do the math – that works out to a little over a dollar per year for hosting that has everything I need. I think that’s a pretty good deal.
If you don’t want to get a reseller’s account, you can get by even cheaper. I have another hosting account I bought at Ebay that only hosts a single domain, but it only costs 75 cents a month. This 75 cent account supports PHP, mySQL, has unlimited space and bandwidth, unlimited email accounts and just about everything else you could think of.
I strongly recommend that you check out the hosting offers on Ebay before you make any other commitments. Here are the features you want to make sure your hosting has -
1) Linux based web server
2) CPANEL admin control. This is the web based admin where you can check traffic stats, setup mySQL databases, setup email accounts and a whole lot more
3) Fantastico – This is an installation aid that’s really handy to have. It allows you to automatically install several high powered software applications with just a single mouse click. Want a WordPress blog? Click and you have it, ready to roll. Want an online forum – same deal, click and it’s there. Catalog and shopping cart – You guessed it, click and you’ll have it.
It goes without saying that you should check the the seller’s feedback on Ebay before you make any commitment. See what other customers have to say about the service. You want to make sure you’re dealing with someone that’s reputable.

Top 5 Landing Page Mistakes

Recent studies have shown that 80% of visitors
to most sites leave in under 8 seconds.
Here are some reasons why:
1. Consistency
It seems like such an obvious concept but it’s
frequently overlooked.
You need consistency between the call
to action in the ad that brought the visitor to
your site, and the landing page they visit.
If the visitor can’t find what brought them there
immediately, they’ll look somewhere else. How do you
feel when someone offers you something to get
your attention, then gives you something else in return?
Be consistent with your message and turn visitors
into paying customers by giving them what got them there.
2. Too Many Distractions
Remove all distractions.
How many times have you visited landing pages that
offered you so many options you didn’t know
what to do?
Stick to a single message. If you ask a visitor
to:
* Read your copy;
* Sign up for you mailing list;
* Check out this or that article; or
* Click on this or that link;
all you did was confuse him, and as a result
he’ll do none of the above.
Don’t create mental tension. Eliminate it and your
sales conversions will increase dramatically.
Get your visitor into the buying
cycle as soon as possible.
You have to:
* Get their attention
* Turn that to interest
* Create desire
* Close the sale
* Turn the customer into a company advocate
3. There is NO Call to Action or the Offer has NO
Emotional Appeal.
You need emotionally compelling ad copy that stops
visitors dead in their tracks. People buy on
emotion. They justify with logic. People gravitate
toward pleasure and away from pain.
Remember the old adage,”Fear of loss is greater
than the desire for gain.”
Get inside your customer’s mind. Find out what
gets them emotional about your product and/or
service and quickly explain how your offer benefits
him.
4. Bad Design
Landing pages should have a 800×600 resolution if you
want to capture 89-94% of online users.
Make sure visitors can see the offer
in the first screen. That’s usually
the upper 300 pixels on the page.
Make sure the offer is very clear and easy to take
advantage of. Repeat the offer anytime they scroll past
or leave the first screen.
5. Tedius or Invasive Forms
* Keep forms simple
* Repeat the offer on the form
* Use as few fields as possible
* Collect new information only
* Make sure the info is saved as they go so if they accidently
hit the back button they don’t have to start over.
* Let people know you will never share this information
with third parties
Get the business you deserve.

Learn from them
Approaching retirement age I was made redundant last year and decided to create my first web site, initially knowing little about it. I hope that, by reading about my experiences, I may save you both time and money if you ever find yourself in the position of wanting to build a site with little initial knowledge.
eBooksI bought five or six ebooks on how to make my web fortune from the one-page web-sites that you see on the web. The prices ranged from .95 to .95. It would be unfair of me to say that they were of no use, as you can always pick up the odd pointer, or contact. However, with the benefit of hindsight I would not have purchased any of them. Instead there are free, better written books which give you at least the same pointers, and often have more substance. You can download from my web site, for free, two excellent books by Ken Evoy, which will provide you with a good basic knowledge to move forward. Don’t get carried away with the sales hype contained in some of these “get rich quick†single page sales letters that offer huge free bonuses and an imminent price increase.
Universities and collegesThere are various colleges and universities on the web which promise you the ultimate in web creation, site marketing, search engine optimization and much more, “all under one roof†They usually have libraries of “how to†books and membership is by monthly subscription with some offering a lower fee for the first month. Have a look, by all means, I looked at three and claimed my refund within the stated period. I found that I could obtain similar information offered for free with a little searching, and that what they really offered was convenience.
Web Design softwareI initially purchased a web site building package for .95 and was soon disappointed by its lack of functionality. I then looked over the shoulder of a friend whilst they showed me the workings of a top-end product costing nearly 0.00 but I found it to be too complicated with too steep a learning curve too be quickly productive. I posted a request for help on the Warriors forum and there were more recommends for a particular product than any other. So I decided that my first web site would be a review of that product, which I would create as a trial, before I went on to build a site that would aim at generating income.
What should the web site be about?Several of the books that I read suggested that the subject matter should be about something that you enjoy doing and therefore you will create your site with more passion and enthusiasm. Whilst this is sound advice I found that the need to create a trial site, which would force me to learn the basics, was more than a sufficient driving force.
Domain name & Web hostingGo for a dot com registration and pay no more than per annum. Don’t go for free hosting, you get what you pay for. I looked at hosting sites that offered complete package with hosting, autoresponders, SEO and linking software and much more. Whilst everything was conveniently in one place they failed to convince me that each product would stack up well if they were competing in each niche market. I therefore opted for the best of breed approach and a little less convenience.
Search Engine OptimizationThis was probably the subject that I was most worried about as I new that it referred to making a web site as easy as possible for the search engines to find, but I had no clue as to how to go about it. I have a free ebook that you can download entitled “Search Engine Optimization Made Easy†which will give you the basics to carry out this process. The book is really a plug by the author of SEO software for his excellent product. I was fortunate in that the web design software I selected also, somewhat unusually, held my hand through this process, carefully pointing out page, by page, what I needed to do.
Article DistributionI was aware that, in order to succeed, I should submit articles to the numerous Article Directories present on the Internet. There are two ways to do this. By purchasing one of the two major pieces of software to assist me in doing it myself, or to use a company to do it for me. I looked at each way and found that, whilst both software solutions cut out some of the tedious manuals tasks of submitting to over 150 directories, it was still time consuming. Having examined the market place carefully, discounting any company who charged for a fixed number of submissions, I opted for one who for a fixed quarterly fee would submit any number of articles.
Link softwareAgain, so that I would get more site traffic, I new that I should get other sites to link to mine and that I would have to manage those links and the emails back and forth etc. I initially started to design an Excel spreadsheet linked to Microsoft Word but decided that I would still have to create the links pages by hand. My advice is to obtain software which houses all your links in a searchable database, handles all of the emails, including template housing, and that automatically creates the HTML link pages for you.
