There has been plethora of web pages on internet today. The information available on net is huge. If you search for a particular page on internet the number of links offering information goes in hundreds and thousands. But very few pages give the information in the form you want. Most of the sites are as good as junk as they do not have information that you seek but for some reason they get listed on the result page after search. Visitors prefer to visit site that has simple format and has information mentioned in one page I proper format. If a visitor likes the page, they visit the same site again and again. This later helps in better page rank in searches.

Most of the web pages are not designed properly. After visiting the site, a person has to surf through many other web pages linked on the web site to get the correct information. Sometimes the links are placed in corners or on panes where it is not visible. Therefore it is very important to have well designed page. Many web sites prefer to have a landing page. A landing page is a website where a probable customer comes after she clicks on an advertisement. Once on the web site the customer gets basic information about the product or is asked to register herself.  

A landing page is of two types.

1. Reference landing page: Reference landing page is like any other webpage that one gets to see on home page. Reference web page gives basic information or detailed information to customer. Once on landing page, a customer can surf through the web page and go across or click on the information which she needs. It can have text, images, video or even animation. To make it more interesting and lively many people prefer to have landing page made with Flash visuals.

2. Transactional Landing: A transactional landing is a page where a customer when she wants to purchase a product or wants to get registered for it. When a person clicks on the advertisement she is lead to a site where she is asked to register or where she has to book order and pay for a particular product or service. A customer is said to be ‘converted’ if she visits the site and registers or purchases any product from it. Many web sites aim for high conversion ratios.

If you find that your website is failing to perform as you had hoped it would, it can be tempting to scrap the entire project and search out another website design. This is not always necessary. It can be easier and more affordable to look at making changes to your landing pages rather than overhauling your entire website design. Here are a few tips that you can use to make the landing pages on your site much more streamlined and capable of attracting and converting web traffic.

Remember that there are two types of landing pages. One is much shorter than the other and therefore has to be able to convey a lot of information in a very limited space. The techniques that you may use on a short landing page may be different than the techniques that work best on a longer landing page or a more content-heavy website design. It is important not to assume that what works for a shorter landing page will also work equally well on a website design that uses longer landing pages.

Is a picture worth a thousand words?
You may find that with a landing page or overall website design that saying may well be true. Depending on the kind of website you own a photograph may add a more personal note and make it easier to create the kind of trust that leads to unshakable customer loyalty. You may find that this personal touch is just what you need to start converting your casual hits to solid web traffic. If you are not comfortable putting your own image up you may want to consider other images that relate directly to your company or the products it offers.

Will video or audio make your site more appealing?
In much the same way that a picture can make your site more appealing, an audio file or a video file may also help to personalize your website and make the landing pages more attractive to potential customers. However you need to keep in mind that the landing page still needs to be easy to load no matter what connection speed a person is using. A video or audio clip that is too massive will bog down a system and make it difficult for the page to load. It can take such a long time that potential customers will simply go to a different site and this will mean that your site can no longer generate income. Again, like other elements, it is important to weigh the pros and cons of including one of these on your landing page.

By considering how to change your landing pages within the context of your overall website design you can often create a functional site that is capable of generating the level of income that you had hoped it would. Remember that your choices can have a permanent impact on the way your site will load and even the navigational tools that may be required for viewers to move around the site, so make sure that the changes have been fully completed and that there are no loose ends that need altering or cleaning up.

You earn money when a visitor converts.  Until your visitors convert you are spending money.  No matter what your conversion is, either sell a product or collect and email address, you want a visitor to take that action.  Your landing page must convince the visitor to convert.  The following are several ways which you can increase the conversions of your landing page.

* Do research.
Build your landing to speak to your ideal visitor.  Keep everything the page geared toward that ideal visitor.  A landing page trying to capture a broad spectrum of visitor attention is destined to get a lower conversion rate.

* The headline is important.
Your landing page headline is perhaps the most important marketing message your landing page can have.  You can be guaranteed that almost every visitor will read your headline, even if they read nothing else.  Grab their attention with the headline.

* Match the landing page to your AdWords Ad.
Having your keyword in the landing page headline will get the visitors attention.  It will tell the visitor the page is relevant to what they searched for.  This will increase you chances of the visitor remaining on your page and reading the rest of your sales copy, and converting.

You can use Adwords Dynamic Keyword Insertion to pass the search term to your landing page as a querystring parameter.  This will allow a dynamically generated landing page to use the visitors search term in the headline and sales copy.

* Give the visitor only one option, the option to convert.
Remove any navigation links, outbound links and advertisments from your landing page.  Make sure the visitor doesn’t get distracted by some other link or message.  You want to them to convert, and only convert.  This means keep your message to a single page.

* Remove unecessary graphics or features.
Again, you don’t want to distract potential customers from your message.  Get rid unneeded graphics, CSS or javascripts.  Keep your message simple and focused.  Removing unecessary elements should also increase the page loading time.  You don’t want to lose a potential conversion because your page was too slow to load.

* Give the visitor every opportunity to convert.
Don’t have only one conversion link or form at the bottom of your page.  Make sure your visitor doesn’t have to search for the conversion opportunity.  Popup windows and DHTML windows provide great ways to attract attention and convert.

* Use Testimonials 
Consumers like Testimonials from third parties.  For some visitors, Testimonials may be more persuasive than your sales copy.  When collecting testimonials you can write the copy yourself and simply ask the Testimonial giver to agree with it.

In today’s world, outbound marketing is considered as less effective for promoting the website. To attract the people across the world, business or e-commerce websites are looking forward for inbound marketing techniques. Therein, landing page optimization is gaining popularity among other inbound techniques.

Landing page is any page on a website, where traffic is sent specifically to promote certain action or result from an outside source such as a Pay per Click ad or SEO. Large website covers products on many topics and a single home page cannot be promoted for every topic. Therefore, need for landing page optimization is considered important for large websites.

While designing landing page, a few points must be considered such as attractive title, incorporation of brand message, proper optimization of key words and phrases, need of compelling and useful content.

Landing pages can be optimized with various traffic sources:

1. Traffic to landing page can be sent from a pay per click (PPC) search marketing campaign to multiple landing pages that are optimized to correspond with the keywords the researcher used.

2. Traffic from a banner ad or sponsorship graphic to a landing page is specifically designed to address the target audience.

3. Traffic from an email link to landing page is designed to prompt a purchase or other required action.

4. A link from a blog post or sidebar to a landing page pre-sells affiliate products or other required action.

While using the PPC advertising campaigns, it is recommended that the home page should never be used as the landing page of PPC ads.

If you are interested in increasing your revenues and to create an impression on your visitors then the landing page should be different from your service pages. Usually business owners tend to direct their customers to the home page but without an attractive landing page it is difficult to increase your prospective client base.

Creating an attractive and relevant landing page is the first step to increase your online sales. Web designers should keep in mind that it is important to retain the customers and the efforts should be on optimizing the landing page, providing newsletters and other useful software gadgets that visitors might find interesting. A smashing heading and some attractive information can make a great landing page that will help you to convert your potential customers to buyers. A business that generates lots of traffic but very few lead or sign ups is really very frustrating and business owners should give it a thought and concentrate on developing a landing page that can impress the viewers and make them stick to the website.

Few Points to be Considered While Designing a Landing Page

Display relevant information to your visitors: Users always look for specific things on the net and the best solution to attract them is to provide relevant and attractive information that is useful to them. Compelling content that provides solutions to the problems help to retain the visitors.

Always focus above the Fold: Display enough content above the fold so that the visitors can take a decision about sticking to the website. If the user has to scroll to find out the offers then most probably he will decide to click the back button.

Provide multiple response options: Designing a landing page that generates a lead should be your chief aim and to allow the visitors to respond, highlight your contact information or customer service options.

Make the page readable: Display the most vital information about your site close to the middle and do not try to distract them by any other graphics or images. Choose a font and color that is readable with a suitable background.

Design simple forms: If you want to gather information from your visitors then you can ask them to fill up certain forms. The forms should be kept simple so that the visitors do not have to think too much before providing the information. User friendly forms with fewer fields are easily filled up by the visitors.

Define your conversion: The landing page should be designed in such a manner so that the conversion process is well stated. If you have a newsletter on the landing page then there should be an option to enter an email address and an accept button.

Link development has become more of a quality driven process and the quantity of links are no longer a defining factor. This shift in perception is a direct consequence of scenarios wherein websites have attained higher search engine rankings with fewer quality links than compared to websites with tons of back links. This shift has fuelled the need for development of quality back links. However, developing the coveted quality link is no child’s play and requires careful planning and manual execution.

The adage “well begun is half done”, as always, holds true for the link development process. The process of identification of potential link pages is time consuming and the most challenging part of the entire process. In fact, identification of the potential link page is crucial to every link building exercise. Let’s delve into the details of ways to ensure that the process of identification of potential link is in sync with the widely accepted quality parameters. .

Link and the link page can be evaluated on the following two parameters. .

Relevance: It is imperative that the links be obtained from pages that are semantically relevant to the page being linked to because such links are given due credibility by search engines, and helps in driving classified traffic. The links should therefore have the following qualifications. .

The page from where the link is to be obtained should be thematically related to the page to be linked to and therefore ensure that you get qualified visitors.
Links should be from the same domain but none competing in nature.

Authority: Once the relevancy of the link page has been established, the next step is to decide whether the page commands substantial authority. The authority of the webpage can be assessed by the number of times the page has been referenced by search engines. A high number is an indication that the page attracts a sizeable amount of traffic. Also, it is important to check the number of links that point to the targeted link page. The reason why this parameter is important lies in the fact that when you target a link page, you are not only targeting the link page you are also targeting the links that point to that page.

Adhering to these points would help you identify potential link pages that would add value to your page and build its authority. Targeting link pages that feature your competitor’s links are passé.

We will now look at the last few online marketing techniques that should be incorporated into your landing page in order for your internet business opportunities to grow.

Offer a free promotion, if you have a product or service that you can offer for free in exchange for the web users email address or name then this is the best way to generate a mailing list. A lot of internet marketers use this technique to generate their email list and grow their online business opportunity. If the landing page is actually selling your product then add bonuses if they buy it, by maybe offering additional products for half price. The more your offer the web visitor at your price level then the more value your create for them and your online business.
Time limit and limited offers, create a sense of urgency for the product or service with an offer for a short time period. Another option is to only give the product to the first few registrants. Both of these techniques have been used successfully to generate internet business opportunities and to convert visitors into cash. These techniques create an urgency for the visitor and encourages them to buy at this point in case they miss the offer. Through research and testing you will be able to identify these time frames and what best works for your web visitors and your internet business.
Payment options, the landing page should offer multiple ways in which to purchase your product. Many marketers only offer one way, but times are changing and visitors have their preferred way of buying online so offering what the web visitors need is your responsibility as an online marketer and to make your online business opportunity work. You must offer the web visitor multiple options like credit/debit card payments, bank transfer and Paypal.
Testing, you may have set up an internet business, and landing page, and it may be doing ok, there is always room for improvement and this is through testing your landing page. Testing an tweaking your landing pages is the only way in which the internet business opportunities will grow and tell you what your web visitors are doing. It will teach you trends in the market, whether it be location, age demographic or seasonal.

Producing a great landing page is essential to your internet business and online marketing. Set up a basic page and test it until you get the visitors converting, it can take time, so don’t give up because there is a huge amount of money to be made online.

Landing pages are also helpful in measuring the progress and effectiveness of your SEO measures. For visitors with a normal internet connection, your page should load in a maximum of five seconds. Make changes if you notice that the page takes longer than that to load. Your page’s loading speed will depend upon several things like large graphics, pictures, “heavy” code, etc. After analyzing your site to figure out what is slowing down your page’s loading time, make the necessary changes to speed things up. If, for example, you see that it is your graphics that are slowing down your page’s loading time, save those graphics as smaller files or simply remove them altogether. The main goal you have should be to build a page that is perfect to each person who sees it. Pages that are easy and light often have bigger conversion rates than heavy or overly produced pages. The fewer distracting elements you have on your page, the easier it will be for visitors to your site to focus on what you are selling to them and they will be more likely to buy from you. You want to use copy on your landing page that holds your visitor by the hand and then leads them, without distractions, directly to the buy button or sign-up form. Your font size shouldn’t be too small and always use dark colored text on a write background for the best readability. NEVER USE ALL CAPS because people don’t like it and make sure that your text isn’t too little. Without a comprehensible message for visitors to read and follow then your page won’t convert. Making sure that your text is readable is a simple task so there are no excuses for skipping this element of landing page design. To find the combination that your visitors like the most you will have to test different variations of your landing pages and see which one they like the most.

You should also be providing people with a powerful, unconditional guarantee. You will find this to be the easiest way to increase the rate of conversions because you reduce the risk for your buyer. Your goal should be to create a believable and impressive guarantee. When you have a 100% money back guarantee, you should try to go for a longer guarantee, as they work better. This helps you in two ways, namely that most people forget to ask for a refund before the cutoff date and by showing you believe in your product.
