Building a web site for your yoga business is an important and effective means of bringing in new students.

It can be a costly endeavor, however, especially if you hire someone to build the site for you. Building it yourself, on the other hand, can be time consuming, especially if you are new to web marketing.

Here are a few tips to help new and experienced yoga teachers and studio owners get the most from a web site.

1. Yoga business marketing starts with your web site’s domain name

Most yoga teachers and studio owners spend far too much time deciding on a domain name for their web site.

One of the first places search engines like Google look for keywords is in the domain name. So it makes sense to put words in the domain name that people will actually look for.

People most often search for yoga classes on the Internet by typing in the name of their city and the words ‘yoga’ or ‘yoga class.’ Unless you or your studio have already established a well recognized brand name that people will actually search for on the Internet, it’s a good idea to incorporate the name of your city with the word ‘yoga’ into your domain name. You can then register a second domain with the actual name of your yoga business that redirects to the first domain name.

Whenever possible, use ‘.com,’ for your site because it is the most respected top-level domain (TLD) and the easiest for people to remember.

2. Flash is the number one killer of yoga web sites

Flash is a powerful program that can produce stunning graphic displays and play music on web sites. Many web designers build beautiful yoga web sites completely in Flash.

Unfortunately, Flash can sink a web site’s chances of success before the site is even launched.

Search engines like Google can’t read text saved in Flash. If Google can’t read what’s on your site, it certainly won’t rank you very highly in search results — even if you offer exactly what people are looking for. And if Google doesn’t rank you on page one of its search results for key phrases related to your business, your site might as well not exist. People rarely scan past the first few search results.

The solution: Have your site built in HTML so that search engines can read your content. Use Flash sparingly for visual effects on part of your page, or not at all.

3. An ‘autoresponder’ is an effective yoga marketing tool, turning web site visitors into paying clients

Incorporate a sign-up form on your web site for a newsletter to send by email periodically. The best newsletter programs include automatic responder or ‘autoresponder’ capabilities, which send prewritten messages to subscribers at set time intervals.

For instance, when someone signs up for your newsletter, you can have a thank-you message sent automatically. The next day have the autoresponder send your class schedule. Two days later, send a message about the health benefits of yoga. On day four, your autoresponder can send a coupon for a class discount or private session, and so on.

It takes repeated contact to turn web site visitors into paying clients, building your yoga business slowly but surely. An autoresponder system is an inexpensive and effective method of automatically staying in touch with your prospects. Write your messages once and you’re free to concentrate on other things.

4. Slow and steady link-earning ensures long-term success of your yoga business’s online presence

Earning links from other people’s web sites will make sure that search engines recognize your site as an authority on whatever topic your web site covers.

In the past, people submitted their sites to ‘link farms,’ where all kinds of web sites were included with no organized theme. Next, people engaged in reciprocal linking schemes to trade links between two or more unrelated web sites in an effort to game the search engines.

These days the search engines are smarter, so increasing your yoga web site’s authority isn’t simply a matter of submitting your link here and there all over the Internet and getting links back.

The best way to get links is to earn them. This is a slower process of creating content on your site that other site owners will naturally want to link to, earning what is called a ‘backlink’ or ‘in-pointing link.’

Link from your site to other sites sparingly, and only link to sites related to your site’s theme. A rule of thumb is to consider whether the site you’re linking to adds value for your web site visitor. If not, don’t link to it.

For example, it may be a good idea to link to a site with a yoga article you want your site visitors to read. It may also be a good idea to link to a national or international yoga directory so that your students can find a yoga class when they travel. Even linking to your favorite local massage therapist or Reiki practitioner could be a good idea (so long as they’re not also yoga teachers — as a general rule don’t send hard-earned traffic to your competition) as these fields are complementary to your yoga business and may also get you some referrals from those businesses. These types of links add value for your visitor.

On the other hand, linking to a used car lot or your friend’s brother’s daughter’s baby pictures, cute as they may be, are not such hot ideas.

How This Online Marketing Income Stream is Responsible for Paying My Bills for Free

How This Online Marketing Income Stream is Responsible for Paying My Bills for Free

I know this article sounds too good to be true, and if your like me you have read a lot of crap over the years promising a pie in the sky dream.

Well, after a year and a half of failing miserably in my Pre-Paid Legal business (network marketing) and losing over ,000 dollars I developed an attraction marketing and Internet marketing mindset. I then spent hundreds of dollars on Google adwords (Yes, I lost money there as well), E-bay marketing, Traffic exchanges, and Craigslist. I also spent loads of time writing articles, posting to forums, creating videos, networking with people on Myspace, facebook, squidoo, blogs, etc.

As a result of my marketing I earned more money in my first 6 months online than I could ever produce offline. (Yes, I finally made a profit – Yipee!!) The major problem for me in offline marketing was that my prospecting was very “untargeted” and I was seen as a common solicitor and not a professional.

I learned that I could harness the power of technology and create a brand. For me that brand being Carl Coffin, Inc. Did you know that companies pay millions for their brand name? Branding myself was the best thing I could have ever done to attract loads of prospects to me on autopilot.

One day, during one of my momentary lapses of focus I was browsing youtube “killing time” when I stumbled across a video by Jonathan Budd. I said to myself, who the heck is Jonathan Budd? I thought his videos were a little funny and intriuging. Jonathan Budd is an expert Internet marketer who is making multiple six figures online in various network marketing businesses. He’s a coach and trainer and is responsible for creating the Online Mastermind System.

After watching a few of his videos his message started resonating with me and I was slowly but surely becoming attracted to him. (NO, NO, NO Ladies and Gentleman, that last sentence didn’t sound right, I assure you I ‘am married and 110% heterosexual) I was attracted to his “mindset” and his “marketing philosophy.” Jonathan’s marketing message worked on me… he branded himself in my eyes as a leader and an expert, I then wanted to learn more from him. I wanted him to empower me with his knowledge of Internet marketing. I pulled out my credit card and purchased his Mastering Myspace course, then his Online Mastermind course, and finally his Online Mastermind System. The information I learned from him was invaluable but that’s how it is in life… We have to pick our mentors and learn as much as we can and then try to implement the knowledge in the real world. We test, test, and test some more until we succeed.

It’s because of Jonathan’s value and the respect that I have for his coaching that I decided to recommend his affiliate program to my prospects. His affiliate program (in my opinion) is the best program for online marketers out there in cyberspace. His program has everything you want. Every prospect that goes to your affiliate landing page and opt’s in for more information about Jonathan Budd is trapped and attached to you until the end of time. (Having a prospect opt in at one of Jonathan’s landing pages is really a no brainer because of how powerful he brands himself.) The front end of the marketing funnel offers a low priced product that pay’s a seven dollar commission up front. Residual income is now created because the prospect is entered in a 14 day trial of his Mastermind system. After 14 days the prospect is billed the monthly fee and a .00 commission is automatically generated.

This has been extremely lucrative to me because the low priced product converts very high followed up with monthly memberships that are automatic. The prospect now turned customer is also placed in Jonathan Budd’s list that consistently emails’ valuable content and training. Every sale that is made from now until the end of time is attached to you and will pay you time and time again.

Well there you have it my friends, my online marketing income stream that is responsible for paying my bills. The best part is his program is free to use and has been a valuable asset in the current recession – or should I say depression.

When Paying For Traffic is a Smart Online Marketing Move

When Paying For Traffic is a Smart Online Marketing Move

If you’re struggling to generate even a glimmer of traffic to your website and your online marketing strategy is looking dead in the water then maybe it’s time to consider a little financial investment.

But before you jump straight in and start throwing your hard earned cash down the throat of the next SEO expert to leave secondary school take a few moments to examine your budget, do some research and ask a few simple questions.

Have you exhausted your social media marketing strategy?

Facebook, Squidoo, Youtube, Zenzuu, MySpace and and a few other recent arrivals offer a good ROI for any online entrepreneur who has a few minutes of their time to invest on a regular basis. Blogs can also support your efforts to build rapport and generate a regular folowing but there are a few things you need to know about blogging or you’ll soon start to feel as though you’re shouting into a big black hole.

Have you invested in a website the search engines will like the look of?

If you’re not sure get an expert to take a look or better still pick up a good guide from Amazon and learn how to do the basics yourself.

Does your domain name link to the product or business you promote?

This is vital for creating a strong profile as well as for generating targetted traffic. I spend days working on this one single area so that gives you an idea how important it is.

Do you have a good hosting package?

Good hosting is essential and can make the difference between being seen and becoming invisible in the alexa rankings.

Have you researched keywords in your niche and are you using them?

This is not as easy as it seems but there are some great free resources such as Google Keyword tool which will help you to target this quickly and effectively.

Have you been realistic in your expectations?

Honestly, how long have you been online and what did you expect. Don’t know yet? Well take some time to think about this before moving on.

But…

If you can honestly answer yes to these questions then perhaps it time to start looking at investing in traffic generation.

Traffic is “The One”. Without traffic, all your efforts will just go to waste and your income, like your traffic, will be nowhere to be seen. Every business needs customers and without them you wouldn’t have anyone to sell your products to or tell your story to in order to build a following and sustain your internet business.

In the internet world, traffic is the walk in customer. The more traffic you have the more people you will be able to tell your story to and if you get it right people will walk through your door in the thousands.

But like any business, not everyone that walks through the door to look at your goods will buy, but the greater the number that come in to browse, the greater the number of people will come back tomorrow, next week and next year.

One day, they’ll walk through your door and put their hand in their pocket – as simple as that.

But, how do you get traffic, traffic large enough to turn a small percentage of visitors into buyers?

Successful internet marketers generate traffic in the tens of thousands on a daily basis and understand that only three to five percent will actually become customers, but that small percentage is enough to provide them with a massive income.

The answer may be found in the form of online advertising. These paid advertisements include advertising on sites like Google and Yahoo through pay per click advertising and the results will come up alongside search engine results in prominent positions which can bring in a high level of traffic to your site. But before you jump in and start throwing money into PPC do your research, plan your campaign and evaluate its effectiveness.

There are some real sharks swimming out there who will take your money and leave you for dead in the water so be careful out there!
