You have probably seen the “Get Number 1 Keyword Position Instantly for any website” self-proclaimed SEO experts and consultants all over the web. I am sure some of them can actually do that through their so-called secrets, but what if your website sucks? You will have spent all that money and time stuffing your site full of keywords, altering your site’s content to the point where it barely makes sense to humans and you have achieved your Ultimate Goal — “Google Domination”. That is the problem — your goal.
Shouldn’t your goal be to grow your business, get customers, and sell your product or services?
Your site should be designed for people, not just search engines.
I’m sure you understand Google is never going to buy your product — but neither are people if they follow your top ranked link and find… nothing useful.
Can your site be found? SEO can help – but it is one small piece of the greater whole. Quality content which is updated regularly, site design & structure, and insightful marketing are what will make you “Findable”.

The job of the search engine is to direct users to what they are looking for. By trying to trick the search engines, you are trying to trick potential customers. Not a great first impression. Make sure you are able to give users what they are looking for and it will be much easier to get that high rank you want. Give your website viewers useful, high quality content such as videos or informative or entertaining blog posts and you will be rewarded with better PageRank, repeat views, quality leads and increased sales!
SEO used to refer to things like making sure the structure and navigation of a site is user friendly, efficient in size and speed, and making sure your title and meta tags matched your message. It still is all that, but the term has been abused by “internet marketers” who can’t seem to figure out how to market anything more than information about “internet marketing”. It is almost like the work at home schemes where you buy a report on how to sell the same report to other people.
That does not mean that SEO should be ignored. Search engine optimization really is essential to the success of your site. However, it must be more than just keyword tricks and those should not be the main part of your strategy. “Real” and effective SEO is not just all the magic tricks and schemes, but is a process that should be taken into account in all phases of development and marketing. Your content should be clear, concise and effective in getting your message across. If it does that, your keywords will already be in it! Your website or blog must function properly — people (and search engines) need to be able to navigate around it. For SEO, quality content is step one, user-friendliness or “usability” is the next step before starting keyword meta tag manipulation and backlink building. Really, most of it should be done all at the same time. It is that holistic synergy thing or whatever new buzzwords I come up with to say “your stuff all has to work together toward the same goal, with each part enhancing the ability of the other parts to achieve their individual goals because it works so much better that way”. And yes, all those SEO rules and criteria you have read about are very important, too. But they are constantly changing. To do it well also requires a talent in addition to knowledge and diligence. SEO services work well on their own, but work much better when integrated with the design process, marketing, and even video production. Also known as swine flu, Swine Influenza is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza viruses that causes regular outbreaks in pigs. The disease spreads from people to people, not from pigs. This is a fact that the virus that causes the disease came to humans from pigs, therefore the disease known as the swine flu. Researchers are still thinking about the name of the virus, but most of them know it as the H1N1 swine flu virus. Internet marketing is a discipline where you do all your marketing in the virtual world and get real returns out of it. The virtual ambience through which you function while doing Internet marketing has several benefits over the conventional non-virtual marketing.
First of all, the advertising options available over the Internet have far more variety than those available for offline marketing. With the Internet you can use banner ads, pop-up ads, pop-under ads, audio and video ads, email marketing, blogging, social media networking, pay per click ads, or newsletters. The attraction here is that all these advertising options can be exercised through the same media. With offline marketing, one has to rely on different media like radio, TV, and newspapers to manage different types of advertising.
Secondly, tracking results is easier in Internet marketing. With sophisticated software, computer systems update information and analyze results immediately on receiving data. As a result, marketers remain better informed about market trends; user preferences and the result of their Internet marketing Strategy and marketing campaigns and can also see which of their strategies and marketing campaigns are working better. In offline advertising methods, to track the results and make the necessary modifications would take much more time and energy. This may create gaps in effective advertising.
With offline methods, once you give an audio or video for broadcasting or telecasting, it is not easy to make changes immediately on it. As against this, changing the graphics or a sentence or a word here and there is a simple job with Internet marketing. When you get customer feedback on any of the ads, whether text ads, audios, or videos, you can immediately make the necessary changes in that.
Target marketing is also easier while doing Internet marketing. In target marketing, different market segments are identified for which a particular service or product can be more useful. Target markets may be demarcated by the socio-economic situation of the people, their geographic location, ethnicity, gender, age, income levels, technical know how or profession. While target marketing can be done in offline marketing also, it remains more restricted to locations and is more difficult than in Internet advertising.
Instant conversion is yet another plus point of Internet marketing. If the customer is satisfied with the product or if he is in immediate need of the service, he will click on the mouse and make an offer immediately. As against this, when he sees an ad for a service in a newspaper or TV, he will have to first make a phone call to that company to get further details or may have to make enquiries with two or three people before choosing one person.
In short, with Internet marketing, contact with customers and customer reactions are faster than in offline marketing. With computer graphics also having a high level of sophistication, people can view the products on the screen as if they are seeing it in the real showroom and make their choices fast. But planning an Internet marketing Strategy is important before starting any online marketing campaign.

Draw Thousands of People to your Web Site – Like Steel is Drawn to a Magnet!
Here’s something that folks may not be aware of. There are millions of people on-line, but a lot of those people are on-line while they are at their job and they’re listening to the radio shows while they’re working or goofing off.
This is the secret that a lot of people don’t realize – There are millions of people who are on-line that should be working. They’re behind their desk pretending they are working, and they are really on the Internet just surfing around and ripping off their employer. That can be good news for you if you’re on one of these radio talk shows. While they’re supposed to be working, they are surfing your web site and spending some money with you.
What you have to do is make people on the Internet want to keep coming to your web site. We’ve coined this the “money magnet†web site. You need to create a “money magnet†web site – one that’ll draw thousands of people to your web site like steel is drawn to a magnet. And here are just a few ideas to help you do just that, and keep people coming back to your web site!
Start a discussion group on your web site. Become famous within your niche. There are people that are doing this right now. They’ve got web sites, and within their niche, all of the people come to their web site, constantly, to be involved in the discussion group. No reason why you can’t have one, too.
Number two, put on as many links as you can that are related to your web site, or your niche, of people that are selling different things or have different information, they are not competing directly with you. You’ve got as many links as possible on your web site. People come to your web site almost as if it’s a freeway on-ramp.
Most web sites are like dead ends. They go to your web site and it’s a dead end. They can go no further. A “money magnet†web site is a web site people come to so they can go to other places. You have constantly changing links and new places that your customers can go to. They’ll keep coming back to your web site because that will make it so much easier for them to go to different web sites that are of interest to them.
A third idea is an electronic newsletter. You would keep the newsletter in your web site. People could download it if they wanted to, but they had to come to your web site to get it. You’ve got a new newsletter all the time, and you’re constantly changing that. Another idea is to have contests. Maybe you have a contest every month, and you try to make it fun. These ideas give people a compelling reason to come to your site. Most web sites don’t have any compelling reason for people to go to them. By doing these, and other things, you give people a lot of reasons to keep coming back.
Most web sites have zero content. Your “money magnet†web site needs to have a lot of content. Most web sites never change. Somebody goes through it one time, they see what you’ve got, and there’s no reason to go back. Your “money magnet†web site is constantly changing. It’s exciting! People want to come back.
Now, if you ask a hundred different marketing experts what marketing is, they’ll tell you a hundred different things. They can all be right in their explanations.
The way we define marketing is very simple. We’d like for all of our readers just to think this through. It’s two-fold.
One, it’s all the things you do to get a new prospect to do business with you one time.
Two, all the things you do to get that prospect coming back again and again.
Now, electronic marketing is just using a computer, your web site, and the Internet to do those two things. You’re getting new customers to buy from you one time and, then, you’re keeping them coming back again and again. Once you truly understand this principle, it can make you a tremendous amount of money.
There is no better way to use that principle than creating this “money magnet†web site that we’ve talked about. It’s going to take a little bit of work for you to do it, but it’s going to be worth it. It’s going to compel new prospects to, first of all, come to your site. For all those links that you’re putting out from your site to other people’s sites, you’re making these people also put a connecting link to your web site. So, you’re getting new people in, plus you’re getting people the information, the products, the services, and the things that they want. You’re establishing value with those people. You’re getting them to come back again and again.
There is a compelling reason to come back. Once they come back a few times, that lets you build a strong bond with your customers. You can use that strong bond and that strong relationship to really get extremely wealthy. This is the potential here. The formula for getting wealthy is real simple: you get enough people to re-buy from you enough times, at a large enough profit per transaction, and you’re going to get rich. It’s that simple! This overall concept can make it happen.

Social Media, Social Networking, Leveraging Web 2.0 – it’s known by many names and it’s all the rage!
Let me start by saying I am a fan of social media, I personally choose to participate in social media. However when you read about social media, you often only hear one side of things – the message is clear – Participate or miss out! And while I do believe that is true, I think it’s not always that simple.
There is so much to read, so many different opinions. It can be overwhelming. First you have to decide which sites to participate in and then you have to create your account and learn how to participate. It’s often confusing.
I am not saying this is an excuse not to participate. In fact I am writing this article to provide some helpful tips so you can participate. .
I think attention to the details is really important, so I want to cover all the small items that people aren’t really talking much about.
Facebook: I started on Facebook as a way to connect with old friends. I had all kinds of games and the crazy apps (applications) that Facebook offers. When I started networking for business I realized that all my business connections were going to have access to all of this personal information – photos, wall posts, they’d know which Sex and the City character I was most like (if you’ve spent any time on Facebook you’ve likely seen this app on people’s profile).
I understand that using social media to open up and connect with people is one of the benefits. Allowing prospective clients to get to know you helps build trust and relationships.
But do I really want people to see every little silly app I mess around with? Do I want them to see the crazy pics from high school that have been posted?
Ultimately I decided to clean off some of the silliness that wasn’t really important to me and I left the rest. I figured if I’m opening the door and letting people peek in, there is no point in censoring anything. So I jumped in and started adding “Friends” that were business connections.
Of course if you are only using Facebook for business, then you don’t have to think about these issues. If you do plan to use it for both – just spend a few minutes thinking about what you do and don’t want to share.
Twitter: Make sure you think about what name is best for you. I chose EcomBuffet (my company name) but have now realized that people are searching for me by my full name and not finding me. I would have been better off choosing my name. Not a major issue, but something to consider if you haven’t picked your name on Twitter yet.
There are varying opinions about how often you can Twitter (or tweet) and not annoy people. Some people say once per hour, others say once a day. There is no hard rule about this. You do want to consider it carefully though. If you tweet too often, people may get annoyed and stop following you all together, or just remove their cell phone updates. That means when you have important updates, people aren’t going to get them at all or as quickly as they could have. You want to find a balance. For me, I have been tweeting about once a day. On some days when I have more to share, I may tweet a few times day. Every time you tweet, ask yourself if it is really information people will want to know. If you are sure every tweet is useful and serves a purpose then you can tweet a little more often. If it’s fluff and all self-promotional, then you should probably do it less (or not all some may say).
Social bookmarking buttons: There are so many buttons you can add to your articles for people to bookmark or vote for your content. Digg, StumbleUpon, RSS Feeds, TwitThis etc – My concern is that we are adding so many different options and people become so accustomed to seeing them that they ignore them. And with so many buttons people may get confused and just ignore them. I don’t know what the solution is for this yet. I previously wasn’t using any of these buttons. I realize I am missing out because of that, so I am now going to selectively use them. I don’t have a perfect plan in mind, I am just going to play with using some of the more popular ones and see what happens.
MySpace versus Facebook: There is a lot of confusion about the MySpace versus Facebook issue. The general consensus is that MySpace has been trashed and isn’t worth the time. That isn’t entirely true. There are still people making money off MySpace. The key to remember is that MySpace is a younger crowd with a lower income and Facebook has a higher income and is older. The best thing you can do is study both – see what others in your industry are doing, see how you see yourself fitting in and most importantly, come up with a plan. So many people just jump in and set up a profile and then don’t know what to do next. Just being there doesn’t mean the money is going to pour in. You need to engage people, you need to come up with something that people will want to see, hear or read.
Is it too late to join now? The answer is no! Studies show that most of the social media sites are growing in popularity and traffic and participation is increasing month over month. Just remember, the rules change as these sites evolve, so be sure you are current on what is and isn’t acceptable participation.
Check it out; see how you think you can fit into the space. But remember its not all about how you will benefit. If you don’t have something to offer (information, resources, insights, news etc) then people aren’t going to be interested.
How does all of this really help me make money? Consumers are much more educated and demand much more than they used to. We are all hit with so many sales messages daily; we start to tune them out. What used to work doesn’t work (or at least not as well). In order for your business to succeed and grow, you need to adapt.
People are looking for more information and companies they can trust. Selling has become more about creating trust and building relationships.
Social media helps you connect and establish trust. Any one social media activity may not lead directly to a sale in any given moment, but it helps you establish a presence online; and in your prospects mind. If you get yourself out there and share information, you will increase your following and have a base of people that trust you that you can market to.
