How much does it cost?
(You get what you pay for, right?)
Cost can mean a number of things:
You could pay an individual freelance web designer an hourly fee on a 15 hour project;
You may be charged a fixed fee per page on your website, so consider how many pages do you need;
You might buy a fixed-price package from a web design company, beacause the offer fills your requirements.
How much is your budget?
How much experience does your designer have?
A cheaper website designer may not be as accomplished as a more expensive option – can you afford to have your site redone?
Would a redesign of an existing site be a more affordable solution?

Web Designing for Clients — Ask this questions first !
If you are a web designer and have just landed that plum web designing contract, to design an attractive website for a client, than you would have already started preparing yourself to deliver on the deal, but before you start web designing, ask the following questions to your client.
Asking these questions and getting proper answers for them will help you immensely as a web designer in understanding the client, his business and his sensibilities. Also it will help you a lot in selecting the suitable structure and colors for your web designing contract. It will give you a precise understanding of what needs to be done. You can either ask this questions to the client, face to face or you can send the questions to client and receive the answers by email. While at first it may seem a bit odd to ask questions regarding web designing, but it definetely helps in the long run.
1. Business
What business is the client in, and what type of website will suplement the clients business.
2. Purpose
The client already has a business, and probably it is running well right now, without a web design. Than what is the purpose of having a website.
3. Business Growth
How does the client expect the website to help them achieve growth in business. What message is the website supposed to give?
4. Target Audience
Who is the target audience of the clients website. Is it a B2B or a B2C website. What is the age group of the audience. What is geographical location of the audience.
5. Primary Goal
What is the primary goal of a website? Is it an information site, revenue generating website, ecommerce website or inquiry generating website?
6. Uniqueness
What is the USP of the client that the web design will offer to potential customers.
7. Web Knowledge
What is the depth of the clients knowledge of internet and world wide web. The answer to this question will be an indicator to the understanding the client possess about the overall working and web designing.
8. Web Hosting & Domain
Does the client need web hosting and domain registration services or has it been already subscribed and registered. If the domain is already registered, than are the registrant details correct with the registry.
9. Final Approval
After the website design is complete who will provide the final approval on the web design contract? If it is someone else than people on the team, than make sure that he understands the web designning concepts well and is kept upto date of the web designing progress.
10. Data Format
The data which is to be provided by the client is it in electronic format or does the web designer need to type all the content. If it is in electronic format than does the designer need to handle file conversions
11. Design or Resdesign
Has the website got to be designed from a scratch or is it to be modified or just redesigned. If it is to be modified, than what additions is the clinet looking to make to the existing web design.
12. Client Preferences
What are the client preferences regarding the look and feel of the website. If possible, the web designer should show a few samples to clients and give them references of the previous websites designed by the web designer.
13. Color Preferences
Does the client like any particular color? The color to be used on the website is to be matched with the colors of the existing stationery or marketing material.
14. Design Preferences
Is flash to be used ? or only HTML website will suffice.
15. Credit Link
Can the web designer provide a link to his website crediting that the client website is designed by him.
16. Maintenance
Who is going to care of maintaining the website, the client will do it in house or the web designer has to do it. Whoever takes the charge of maintaining the website should make sure that the conetnt on the website is relevant, good and fresh. Do remember to update the website atleast once in a week.
That should be all. If you ask the above 16 questions to your web designing client before starting to design a website, and get all your answers you will definetely design a fabolous website.

Is Internet Marketing and Working at Home the Answer to Layoffs? 7 Questions Answered

More Layoffs Ahead
Just this week, it was announced another huge layoff is about to occur at one of the nation’s largest companies. With friends and family members who work there, I must admit to some concern, even though it will not personally affect me. Since May of last year, I have been working part-time to keep the wolf at bay, while building an online business in Internet marketing. Because of this, some of my family and friends have turned to me for advice, so I am going to answer some of their questions here.
Question 1: How easy is it to get started?
Getting started is easy–making it work is, well, work. At this point, I do not make enough to take the place of a full-time job, though I am beginning to see some small successes. When I started this, I knew it was not a get-rich-quick income, but then I don’t really need to be rich, just make enough to pay my bills and pay back student loans. What I have learned in the process is that, though a few do make it work quickly, the majority of people trying to make a living in Internet marketing struggle for a long time, months or sometimes even years, before “making it.”
Question 2: Should I do Internet marketing?
It depends. Are you willing to work at something else, assuming you can find the work, until your marketing efforts pay off? Are you willing to spend hours, days, or even months working through the learning curve? There is a huge learning curve due to having to learn marketing techniques, Internet marketing specifically, keyword identification, copywriting, some technical skills, who you can trust to give you correct information, and much more. Many people are successful Internet marketers, but all they sell is information on how to be successful Internet marketers. They are hard to identify, but most of the time, the content they sell is rehashed material that 1) either no longer works, or 2) has already saturated the market and it is difficult to make money using their techniques–note I said difficult, not impossible. If you have no job and no prospects, you should get started on Internet marketing as soon as possible, and put at least 12 hours a day into it. This will be the best way to succeed, but it won’t be quick. You need to have another source of income while you get this going.
Question 3: How can I shorten the learning curve?
Find a reputable organization and sign up with them. There are a few, though they are not easy to locate. It took months for me to sift through the chaff to find the grain, so to speak. While this will not remove the learning curve, it will allow you to learn from someone who actually walks the talk and can give you specific, concrete information. Once you find this entity, read everything three times. Then on the fourth read, start following the steps they suggest. By reading everything three times, first, you are building a solid foundation to understanding what they are asking you to do. If you cannot commit to reading everything three times, work through the steps during the first read, but be sure you go back and read it again. There is so much content to absorb, it cannot happen overnight, or even in the first week. I am still learning, and much of it is just now starting to make sense.
Question 4: Do I have to know how to build a Web site?
No, you are not required to know how to build Web sites, though some knowledge or experience with XHTML and CSS is helpful. Some organizations provide free Web site software that helps you build a site, even without technical knowledge. The issue is that if something gets broken, without the XHTML and CSS skills, you may have to ask someone else for help. FrontPage, Dreamweaver, and other Web design software can also be used, but I highly recommend that you do not use Microsoft Word. Word puts in a ton of excess garbage, and makes it difficult for even a Web design guru to find and fix errors. Some organizations offer free Web site templates to their members that give the option of developing a site by filling in the blanks. Be careful of these if you don’t understand Web design code. There may be some code built into it that does things you don’t know about, and could get you in trouble–for instance, Java or JavaScript code that captures and forwards information about your readers/customers to a third party you don’t know exists. Worst case, you can find someone to build your site for you. Costs for this service range from to 00 or more, depending on what you need coded. For a simple one page site, the range should be from to 0, depending on the skill and experience of the designer, as well as exactly what you need coded.
Question 5: Where can I find good information on how to do Internet marketing?
There are several resources available to you. Find and bookmark, or favorite, blogs about Internet marketing. Search for and bookmark forums about Internet marketing–lurk for a while, reading content provided as well as answers to questions newbies ask. Do they seem honest and straight forward or convoluted and confusing? Register with one or more forums after you choose those that seem most helpful to you. Spend hours reading everything in the forums, taking notes on those procedures that are interesting to you. Type up your notes to help solidify in your mind the information you have gleaned from the forums. Refer back to your notes often to be sure you are not missing a vital bit of information. Find an Internet training site, such as Wealthy Affiliate University, and sign up for membership and training. Click on the link at the bottom of the page to learn more.
Question 6: What is the most important thing for me to do?
Make a plan for each day and stick to it. Decide what you want out of Internet marketing, then plan how to get there. It has been said, plan your work and work your plan. This is especially true in Internet marketing. If you don’t plan, you will find yourself surfing the Internet looking for things to do, or doing busy work such as dusting your home office for the fourth time in two days, or reading emails. These are some of the ways to trick yourself into thinking you are actually working, when you are in fact spinning your wheels and getting no where. Keep moving forward, working your plan daily, and you will succeed in time.
Question 7: What equipment do I need?
You will need to have a computer and Internet access, or at least access to both through the local library or elsewhere. As far as equipment goes, that is all you have to have. You will need a text editor, but WordPad and Notepad, both of which came free with your personal computer, will work quite well. Spreadsheet software is helpful for keeping records, but not required. You can keep records in a spiral notebook, if you need to. A reference to XHTML coding is a good idea, but you can also look this information up on the Internet. Simply search for free XHTML HTML tutorials.
You must be persistent. How many cliches fit here? The early bird gets the worm;
Rome wasn’t built in a day; keep on trucking; press on; a stitch in time saves nine; if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again; keep your nose to the grindstone; never give up; and many more. These are cliches, because they are overused phrases. They are overused, because they are truisms. Search for, print out, and read daily Calvin Coolidge’s quote on persistence. Coolidge may not have been the best president in history, but he got this right.
To succeed as an Internet marketer, you will have to dive into the literature of the field and read deeply. You will have to be committed to the point that you will persevere when things do not work out the way you expected them to. You will have to learn who to turn to for advice, then pay attention. You will have to do it. Just do it! There is no substitution for rolling up your sleeves and getting to work–yes, I know, another cliche. Again, cliches are cliches because they are so obviously true and they work.

There has been controversy over no follow linking since a lot is still unknown about how Google, Yahoo, and other top search engines actually interpret their use. Here are some questions to help you decide whether or not you should use no follow links:
Q. What Are No Follow Links?
A. No follow links are hyperlinks that have the rel=”nofollow” tag added. The tag is an HTML attribute that is used to command a search engine to not follow the hyperlink and that the link should not influence the page’s ranking. Though, the definition and interpretation is really what has been the subject of controversy.
Q. Why were no follow links designed?
A. The original purpose of the no follow link was to reduce comment spam within the blogging community. With no follow links, the idea was that spammers would be less likely to use such forums for spamming if their links could not be followed and would not influence page rank.
Q. If I use a no follow link will the search engines still follow my link?
A. This is where the controversy really starts. At first, the idea of the no follow link was meant to be taken literally, meaning a hyperlink with the rel=“nofollow” tag would not be followed. However, the attribute has been interpreted differently by different search engines. Ask.com has admitted that they ignore the no follow tag completely. Google and Yahoo interpret the no follow tag to mean “do not regard this link for page ranking” instead of “do not follow.”
Q. If I use a no follow link will the search engines use that link towards my page ranking?
A. And here is where it gets even more complicated. A Sacremento, CA SEO company says even search engines that have said they do not use no follow links for page ranking (such as Google) have been found to actually use the link to calculate page ranking to some extent. Though, since search engines will not share their system for calculating page rank, to what extent they actually count a no follow link is still up in the air.
Q. When Should I Use a No Follow Link?
Even though there are still no exact answers when it comes to no follow links, there are still instances when it is important to use them, such as when you:
• Do not trust the site you are linking to or from
• Do not want a search engine to associate you with the site
• Do not want to another site to influence your page rank
• Do not want to promote the other website, especially in the case of a competitor.
• Think the other site is too small and could end up hurting your page ranking
• Think the other site is too large and would not benefit from your linking to it. (If this is the case then you might rather pass your linking power on to another site that will benefit or that you can set up a link trade with.)
• Want to less important internal pages to count less in your page ranking (e.g. “About Us”, “Contact Us”, “Privacy Policy”, “Site Map” pages)
Q. When should I avoid using no follow links?
If you are doing reciprocal link trades with another website, make sure you do not use a no follow link. And if you trust a website and think that your page rank could benefit from that site, you can avoid using a no follow link.

Three questions you should answer in process of creating your own website.
Even if you are newbie in creating websites probably you have already searched for articles like âSetting up website from scratchâ and found a lot of terms and phrases that tell you almost nothing. Most of CMS are highly configurable, support internalization, extensions and templates. This approach will require more involvement but it has its advantages since it is much more customizable than site builders.
Good news is that there are several free site builders and content management systems. You just should choose those that suit your needs.
3. What. Probably the main question. Means â what type of content are you creating? How your site will look like? What is the purpose of your site?
– Content â all the stuff your site will contain. This may be text, graphics, video, audio. You can set up the blog or directory, online store or image gallery. If you want your site be unique or at least not alike others you should think about content and provide something new to your visitors. Content really matters.
– Traffic â this means how many people will visit your site. How many times will they click the links, how many of them will find your site in search engines. Traffic is key value for you if you want your site to be popular. If you have good content, your site is structured correctly and you have submitted it to search engines and appropriate directories probably you will have enough visitors. Yes, traffic matters.
– Performance â how fast is your site. If you have very good content but your site is slow too much your visitors would not like to visit it and wait minutes until page is loaded. Performance matters.
– Money â if you want to get revenue from your site you should think about this point. Probably you can get money from traffic by displaying advertisement or you can set up online store and sell goods or give paid consultations. You will need bank account and shopping cart software.
Good news? Sure. If you are creative and insistent enough you will create website will great content that will drive visitors to you and probably you will get some revenue and even pleasure. All you need is to choose good tools that will allow your ideas become a reality.

The best way to use Facebook to promote yourself is to create one of two options; you can either start a Facebook group or have a Facebook business page. The group allows you to have fans and let others find out what you are doing; in my opinion the best option by far is creating a business page.
With a business page you can add your articles, blogs and images very much like a website or personal blog. The business page can be indexed by Google as it doesn’t require a profile with password to access the information so the more articles you have the better the page becomes. You can then start a fans campaign within your own personal profile to get as many fans as possible. The more you create the more people who will see your information.
Another method to create fans is to use Facebook advertising which is where your page adverts are placed in strategic areas identified by age, interests etc⦠This really helps you to target your market.
Are website footers really that important?
There are a huge amount of websites out there with either no footers or very poor ones. A website footer is a great opportunity to introduce targeted keywords to your web page.
Search engines usually read a page like this:
Page title, footer and the content.
So if your footer is non existent or poorly thought out, you will be missing out on a golden opportunity to let the search engines know more about your website.
