Answers To Common Seo Questions

Search Engine Optimization as a marketing tool has done wonders for all kinds of businesses. As the world progresses into new ways of doing business, search engine results and online advertisements are quickly replacing outdated marketing methodologies. As it grows in popularity, more people have questions about SEO, what it is, and how they can begin to use it for their website. Here are a few answers to common SEO questions.

1. What is SEO? SEO, which stands for Search Engine Optimization, is a process of driving a higher volume or higher quality of search engine traffic to a particular website. This is a very basic definition of what SEO is, though putting SEO into practice can involve a myriad of techniques and tactics.

2. Why would I want to use SEO for my business? If you sell anything online, SEO can increase the number of people that will find your products via search engine results. The more people visit your website, the more sales you are likely to get. Simple Business 101 – people have to find your product before they buy it.

3. What techniques can I use to begin using SEO for my business? There are a lot of techniques that can be employed in successful SEO marketing. One of the most common is to have content that contains targeted keyword phrases, those that potential customers type into the search engine, on your website in ample supply. Having more relevant, keyword-rich, content available on your website increases the chances of its chances of being found via search engine searches.

These are three basic questions that can serve as an introduction into SEO marketing. There are many other techniques that can be used, from relatively low-tech approaches such as leveraging social media sites for links to your web page, to more high tech approaches, such as keyword stuffing in meta tags. There is a wealth of information to study when it comes to using SEO to improve an online business.

Website Marketing Before the Web Designer Comes: 5 Essential Strategy Questions

Website Marketing Before the Web Designer Comes: 5 Essential Strategy Questions

Right after deciding, “I need a website,” clients often say, “I need a web designer!” Actually, before even whispering the 2 little words “web design,” you need to answer these five questions. The answers will change the way you relate to your web designer (and maybe you will realize you don’t need one).

(1) What is the purpose of your website? Suppose you primarily market a professional service through face-to-face networking and live referrals. Your website will look different from a marketer who sells info products to buyers all over the world.

When you’re well-known through face-to-face contacts, your website serve as an additional source of information to potential customers. You may need only a basic “calling card” site: a list of contact information, coming appearances and basic brochure copy. But you’ll need to use copywriting style because visitors read differently on the web than they do in print.

But suppose your website is your primary revenue source. In that case, you’ll need to direct visitors to your “for sale” section and come up with a plan to collect money.

(2) Who will be your ideal target market? Can they afford your services? Where do they shop?

Most of us plunge into a business without going deeply into this question. One career coach wanted to work with clients who were unemployed. He soon realized that unemployed people need to think first about putting food on the table. They were looking for advice only from sources where they didn’t have to pay.

Some markets just don’t shop on the Internet. They go offline. They like to visit malls and brick and mortar stores. They may visit your website for background info but they’ll buy from someone they can see face-to-face.

(3) What action do you want visitors to take? Do you want them to sign up for a consultation, call you for an appointment, buy a product or sign up for your ezine?

Your home page copy should motivate your visitors to take one simple action. If they sign up for your ezine and then leave, you’ve reached success.

Make it easy for visitors to take this action. More than once, I’ve had to prowl through pages on a website trying to figure out how to buy a product, subscribe to an ezine or attend a teleseminar.

(4) How will you maintain your site? Even your static pages need to be updated regularly if you’re going to maintain a credible presence.

Many new website owners budget the cost of web design and a year of web hosting. But that’s only the beginning. A website that’s unchanged will grow cobwebs. It’s easy to tell when you’ve landed on a website where nobody’s home. Something’s broken. The whole place looks abandoned.

You’ll need to replace broken links, fix spelling errors, add updates to your schedule, and a whole lot more. And in my experience, your website will look different after five or six months. You’ve changed. Your market has changed. You’ve got new products, services and messages.

That’s why I say, “You need to become your own web designer, marry your web designer, or be prepared to pay.” Fortunately, in today’s world, you can create a website where making a change is as easy as sending an email. I would not settle for less.

(5) How will you promote your site? The number one question I get is, “How do I attract traffic to my site?”

A website without promotion is like a 747 flying around the world without any passengers: expensive and useless. You probably don’t need expensive, esoteric SEO strategies. Article marketing, blogs and social marketing can attract all the traffic you need in many markets.

(6) How will you convert browsers to buyers? Your message has to motivate visitors – fast. When visitors land on your home page, you have 5 seconds to hook them. When they land on your sales page, they are asking, “What’s In It For Me?”

That’s why many top Internet marketing gurus have invested in copywriting and copywriting training. Changing your content will have a powerful effect on your sales, more than any other factor. Your design functions only to help visitors read your content.

(7) How will you grow your website with your business? Very few businesses look the same after 6 months, a year or 2 years. I have seen people start as dog trainers and end up as business consultants (or vice versa).

Change means staying connected to your market. You’ll need to keep testing and to find systematic ways to stay connected. You can use social marketing, certain types of teleclasses, and the right kind of testing.

Ask Internet Marketing Agencies These Questions First

Ask Internet Marketing Agencies These Questions First

Internet marketing agencies use different strategies so you must ask questions to determine which advertisement on the internet will help your company expand.

You can create an online presence by creating a powerful extension of your brand with websites, corporate blogs, integrated promotions, online communities etc.

The major way is to drive traffic to a website to either obtain contact information or a sale. The advantage of internet advertising this way is you are able to expose your business to a larger number of prospects which in turn should give you more sales.

Traffic generation can be accomplished with search engine marketing, pay per click, viral marketing, social media and many more. The main key is optimization which is accomplished with testing. The more you test, the more data you will have to make the proper decisions on which advertisement on the internet you are using is most effective.

Once prospect data is collected then extensive filtering can be established to filter your prospects into the proper lists so you can begin to market to their wants and needs. Backend selling can now come into play and generate some real revenue. This is why you must ask detailed and specific questions on their ideas of marketing your small business online.

The best internet advertising never says you can make easy money online. This is a business with work just like any other. The main difference is once this work is put in place and because you can reach such a large market as with any sales the more numbers you are exposed to the more sales you will make it seems like you can make easy money online. When a system is set up there is very little work to be done besides some maintenance.

Mobile device marketing is beginning to offer many options to the more creative internet marketing agencies. Again an advantage of internet advertising is your advertisement on the internet is also on your prospects mobile device.

These are some of the more popular strategies used by internet marketing agencies but the best internet advertising is done by internet marketing agencies that are very creative and utilize new techniques that can bring tremendous amounts of traffic to a website.

Act quickly, because your competition could be asking internet marketing agencies these questions at this very minute.

Website Marketing, Seo, Search Engine Optimisation – Questions To Ask Yourself Before Starting

Website Marketing, Seo, Search Engine Optimisation – Questions To Ask Yourself Before Starting

Website marketing, SEO, Search Engine optimisations are terms often used to describe the various ways to get your website to the top of the search engine rankings.  This can be an expensive and time consuming project, and before starting you need to ask yourself, what do I want to achieve.  There are no answers here, just questions posed.

Why do I want a website?

This is the first question you should ask yourself.  Yes the answer might be straight forward and obvious, but put it into words.  Many people just assume that they need a website and don’t think about the reasons why.  Here are some ideas for reasons (not all are good and sensible reasons) to kick start your thoughts.

… to sell products on line?
… to advertise my business, so people can see what I do and how to find me?
… to provide information to people so they are able to make better choices?
… because everyone has a website?
… because I think a website makes my business look professional.
… to make money from my website by selling advertising?
… it’s a cost effective advertising brochure for my business?

What is my business marketing strategy?

Forget about the website for a minute, how are you marketing your business as a whole?

Are you advertising locally or nationally or not at all?

Are you planning events to publicise your business?

Or are you just intending to get your website to the top of the search engine rankings and hope for the best.

It is important to determine this so that you can direct your time, effort and budget accordingly.  If you are promoting your business in non internet areas, then you are not dependant on search engine rankings at the start.

How important is my ranking in search engine results?

You can only answer this once you have determined the previous question.

If you are an internet business with no non-internet promotion activity then the search engine rankings are most important and you need to allocate your time and financial budget appropriately.

On the other hand if you are a local business regularly advertising in the press then the search engine rankings are less important to you and they can be improved over a longer period.

It can take time to achieve good results in the search engine rankings.  A focussed effort can achieve this within 6 months.

While I did achieve first page results for a website within one month, this was for a rare set of keywords due it being a unique business in the area.  The downside of this was that same rarity meant that less people were looking for the product, and it had to be backed up by locally advertising.

What is my budget?

Obviously how much can you afford to spend?

But also how much time do you have to invest?

Search Engine optimisation does cost money because it is a labour intensive activity if it is done well.  While there are companies and programs offering the automated scatter gun approach, this may not achieve as much as is expected and may even damage rankings in specific cases.

You can cut the costs of SEO by putting in the time yourself if you have it available.  It’s not difficult if you know where to target your activity.  (And I will be writing another article in the future on where to target this activity)

What Now

As I said at the beginning, this article is more about questions you should ask yourself.  Spend a little time planning out your campaign for your website, be clear about what you want to achieve and how.

Tips for Increasing Online Sales – The Questions You Need to Answer to Get More Customers Now

Tips for Increasing Online Sales – The Questions You Need to Answer to Get More Customers Now

I’m going to let you in on a very dirty secret:

There is one question that is being dodged by experts in EVERY market. Answer that question and you’ll corner the market, be worshipped forever and get more customers and sales.

If it was that easy, why aren’t other experts answering these questions?

It’s because they fear an informed audience. That’s outright silly! But, we’re not going to tell them that. While your competitors run scared, you’ll be getting more sales since you’re going to follow the steps I outline in the article below. You will educate your targeted audiences, get more website traffic, teach people how to buy from you and increase your sales.

Now, are you ready?

Step 1: Find the questions that are being dodged by other experts in your industry.

I can’t tell you what these questions are. It will vary from industry to industry. So, how do you find these golden questions to answer?

* Go to Yahoo Answers and type in your keyword. Examine the questions carefully and see which ones keep popping up. If people are asking the same questions, that means that people have the same questions. There’s a need that’s NOT being fulfilled.
* Go to forums and watch what your audience is discussing
* Survey your clients, customers and list of prospects

Step 2: Answer the questions in as many formats as possible

For each question create a blog post. Do NOT date these blog posts – you will see why later on. Once you create your blog post, expand it into an article. Then, turn your article into a video, special report, podcast and audio interview. You should also create online press releases. If you need help with writing your articles and blog postings, I have templates that will help you write your articles in 30 minutes or less. Just go to http://www.StartWritingArticlesFaster.com

Step 3: Answer the Questions in As Many Places As Possible

* You should submit your blog posts to as many RSS feeds as possible

* You should bookmark your blog posts using Digg, Technorati and De.li.cious

* You should submit your articles to the top websites, ezines and article directories that accept article submissions. We can do this for you at http://www.IWantMoreProspects.com

* You should submit your videos to YouTube and Viddler. You may even want to think about investing in the TrafficGeyser.com video submission service

* You should post links to your blog, articles and videos on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace and Linked In.

* You should post your articles on social marketing websites sites like Scribd and Squidoo

* You should submit your press releases through PR Web or Webwire. If you use Webwire.com, all you have to pay is . But, I do suggest comparing the two services and see which one matches your needs.

* Videos teaching people how to buy from you or how to use your product should be on your website.

* When people opt-in for your special reports, ebooks or other free offering, you should have an auto-responder series that gets people to go back to your blog or website. If you have lots of blog postings that answers your prospects’ top questions – all you have to do is create a summary for each blog posting and send people back to your blog every day. This way each blog posting will get the visibility it deserves. And, by not showing the date, these postings become evergreen.

Follow these steps and you will increase website traffic and get more sales, because you’ll be educating your prospects, answering their questions and teaching them how to buy from you.

Frequently Asked Questions about Websites

Copyright (c) 2009 Ivana Katz

For many entrepreneurs, getting a website designed is a very scary and overwhelming task. Most people don’t know where to start, what questions to ask and they don’t understand the process. So if you are thinking of getting a website designed, here are answers to some frequently asked questions, which you may have wanted to ask:

1. What is a domain name?

A domain name is like a street address or telephone number. The domain name points visitors to you on the Internet. The domain by itself is not your email or web address. The domain name, however, forms the base from which these addresses are derived.

For example:

Company Name: Hey Gorgeous Kids Domain Name: heygorgeouskids.com Web Address: www.heygorgeouskids.com Email Address: info@heygorgeouskids.com

2. Do I need to register a domain name to have a website?

The simple answer is NO. You do not need to have your own domain name. Your website can be created and hosted without it. Your website address will look something like this:

www.web4business.com.au/JBCleaning OR www.ozemail.com.au/~JBCleaning

The only advantage of not registering a domain name is that you will save yourself a few dollars.

3. How do I find out if my domain name is still available?

Once you have decided on the domain name that you would like to register, you need to check if it is available through a domain name registrar like GoDaddy.com

4. What do I do if my domain name has been registered by someone else?

PANIC! Just kidding!!! Simply call your web designer who can recommend alternative names that would be suitable for your business.

5. How do I choose a design for my website?

The best way to start is by choosing a colour scheme’ 2-3 colours are the best. If your company has a logo or preferred colours on its stationery that’s a good start. For those of you starting from scratch, choose two or three complementary colours and stick with them – don’t change colours on every page. If you’re not sure what colour scheme to choose, surf the internet and find a website that you like.

Can’t find a website you really like? Another option is to choose a template. There are many templates or pre-set designs. These come as part of your web design software (such as FrontPage) or you can check out some websites that specialise in designing templates.

Naturally, your designer is a good source of information. If you are looking for a custom website, he/she can design one for you from scratch, but knowing your preferable colours is a great help.

6. How do I ensure my website is customer friendly?

(a) Provide an easy to use navigation system.

This is one of the most important issues to consider when designing a website. You need to ensure your visitors can find what they are looking for easily. Most websites either display their navigation bar on the left or at the top. And since most people are used to this type of navigation, it’s best to stick with it.

Please make sure your navigation bar is on every page, as visitors may not arrive at your website via your homepage. Because most Search Engines index your webpages by their content, one of your secondary pages may rank higher than your homepage. And if you don’t have a navigation bar, your visitors won’t have anywhere else to go.

It also helps to include your navigation bar at the bottom of each page to save your visitors from having to scroll back to the top.

(b) Don’t go overboard on special effects

Whilst it is ok to have one or two special effects to jazz up your website, spinning graphics and logos often distract your visitor from the content, not to mention they can take too long to download. Your visitors may click away even before your spinning logo finishes loading.

If your website contains special effects that require extra software to be downloaded, you can be sure that 99% of people will not bother and will leave your website immediately.

When including pictures and photos, please ensure they are the smallest possible size so that they download quickly.

(c) Backgrounds

Make sure your visitors can read the text on the background, ie. no black writing on dark blue background or yellow on white. Also be careful that your links are visible before and after being visited. The default for links in most programs is blue (before being visited) and burgundy (after being visited), so if you have a dark background, ensure your links are light.

Stay away from busy backgrounds that distract from the content. White is still the most popular choice for background and it is so for a reason. It looks clean and is easy to read. If you wish to add a little more oomph to your website, add colourful headings or pictures.

(d) External Links

It is a good idea to open links to other websites in a new window. That way your visitors can easily return to your site when they are finished browsing the external link.

(e) Site Map & Search Feature

If your website is more than 15 pages long, it is useful to have a site map or a “Search” feature to ensure your visitors can easily find what they’re looking for. A site map is simply a text index of your website.

(f) Content is King

While it is important that your website looks clean and professional, it is far more important that you concentrate your efforts on the content and promotion. Don’t spend too much time worrying about whether Betty Jones will like your buttons. She has come to your website for information, not to criticise your buttons and headings.

If you want a professional website, things to stay away from include:

- Flash intros, revolving globes, bevelled line separators, animated mail boxes

- Loads of pop up or pop under boxes

- Autoplay music. Allow your customer to play music only if they choose.

- Hit counters of the free variety, which say “you are 27th visitor”

- Date and time stamps, unless your website is updated daily or weekly

- Busy backgrounds.

7. What pages should I include my website?

Before you start thinking about what to write on each page of your website, it is important that you create a plan, which lists all the pages you wish to include. Below is a list of the most commonly used pages:

(a) Home Page (First Page) (b) Products / Services (c) Contact Us (d) Pricing (e) Testimonials / Product Reviews / Before & After (f) Frequently Asked Questions (g) Response form such as “Subscribe” or “Enquiry” form (h) On-line Magazine or Newsletter(i) Resources/Articles (j) About Us (k) Guarantee (l) Survey (m) Events Calendar (n) Search My Website Feature (o) Return/Refund Policy (p) Privacy Policy (q) Site Map (r) Copyright Information (s) Links (t) Media Information(u) News (v) On-line store (w) Blog

8. What’s a web hosting company? Do I need one?

A web host is a company that provides server space for your website. You can think of a web host as a commercial building. The web host provides space for your website just as a commercial building provides space for your shop or office. You can build your own building and you can host your own website, but because of the cost and expertise required it is easier to rent the space. Without a web hosting company, nobody will be able to see your website.

9. Do I really need a website?

If you consider the benefits, the answer is pretty clear:

(a) Save time – Don’t spend hours on the phone, direct customers to your website, where you can provide all the information they need. Whether it be your product or service list, pricing, business hours or simply directions to your bricks and mortar shop.

(b) Save money on advertising – Instead of paying for large ads, simply advertise your website

(c) Be flexible in your message – Change the content as your business changes. No need for expensive brochure or flyer reprints.

(d) Save money on postage – Email customers news about your products instead. It doesn’t cost you anything.

(e) Gain exposure to new customers – You will reach more local clients as well as interstate and global markets.

(f) Have a more professional image – Keep up with the times and your competitors. If your clients are asking whether you have a website, now you can answer “I will tomorrow”.

(g) Have your business open 24/7. Provide customers information when THEY need it. If you don’t someone else will.

10. How much does it cost to get a website?

The cost of the website generally depends on its functionality. For example an informational website is much cheaper than a website that features an on-line store. There are 3 components to having a website:

(a) Domain name (b) Webhosting (c) Website Design & Functionality

3 of the Most Common Questions About Affiliate Website Marketing

Affiliate marketing is an interesting industry because of how easy it is to get involved with. There are a few common questions that do come up about how to make money as an affiliate marketer. Here are three of the most common questions about affiliate website marketing that you may have.

1. The most common question is how do I make money? This makes sense because most people do start their affiliate business with the goal of making money.

With affiliate website marketing you get paid to sell products for a merchant that you represent. You join that affiliate merchant and then are given your own affiliate website to promote.

Most everything you need is provided for you up front and it is done at no cost to you. Your one real job is to get traffic to come to your affiliate website and purchase a product from it.

You earn a commission every time you make a sale and the affiliate merchant pays you either by check, direct deposit, or a payment processor such as PayPal. Each merchant has their own payment schedule and some will pay instantly, weekly, bimonthly, or monthly.

2. Another common question is how hard is it to make money as an affiliate marketer? This is a good question and the honest answer is unless you learn how to drive traffic to your affiliate website you never will make any money.

You can even increase your odds of earning money by creating your own pre sale page and driving traffic to it.  Another way that people make money as an affiliate marketer is to build a mailing list and follow up with it and make sales in the future.

3. Do I need my own website, is another common question! You do not actually need your own website because you will be given an affiliate website to market with.

However a better strategy is to build your own mailing list and to send your visitors to a landing page where you can capture their name and email address for future follow. Then by following up you increase the odds of making sales. Therefore whether you have your own affiliate website or not is up to you.

In summary this is three of the most common questions asked about affiliate website marketing. There is no real right or wrong way to do affiliate marketing, but to make money you will certainly have to learn how to get traffic to your moneymaking website.

Hello my name is Jerry, I have been a business owner for 20 years. I am reaching out to the internet market. I have found an affiliate program I believe is the best out there. Very easy to follow directions. If you can copy and paste you can do this!
