The access to information provided by the web steepens the sales funnel â is your organization prepared for the accelerated sales cycle?
While reading a book about web marketing, it occurred to me that the exponential growth of social media has a direct impact on the sales funnel and sales cycle of nearly every business.
How? â Consumers (B2B, B2C, C2C) are now able to ask the web community how they should attack a problem. If I want to know how to sell more widgets to a certain target market, there is likely to be a blog, article or group discussing that same challenge. As a marketer, it is now important to be part of that discussion so prospects will see you and your organization.
Who? â Buyers will also be scouring the web to determine who can best assist them with their task. They will explore LinkedIn, Twitter, blogs and forums. As they engage in the discussion, will your company be present? Who will be talking about your company? Hopefully an advocate, or better yet â you!
Where? â Where will these people be? That depends on your target market. As a general rule, every business selling B2B solutions should be present on LinkedIn and Twitter, and publish a blog and articles targeting their prospect audience. B2C marketers must also build a significant following on Facebook. These are just of few of the hundreds of social media venues.
The ability for a consumer to learn how and who can solve a problem means that business must be present on the web and prepared to move buyers through the sales funnel at internet speed.

Every business website needs a good sales page. This is the page where you talk to your audiences about your business, and invite them to subscribe to your products and services. You not only inform them about your business but more importantly convince them to sign up, as you provide them with the things they need.
But not all people are easily convinced by the sales articles posted on the site’s sales page. Thus, if you want to do effective website promotion and attract more targeted leads to sign up and buy your goods and services, then here are some pointers you have to consider:
First, be informative. Doing a sales talk these days no longer has to be purely selling and marketing-you have to support your lines with facts and helpful information. Your target audience is looking for answers to their questions, not just the annoying sales talk which they have to purchase-that doesn’t help at all. Today’s website marketing strategy consists of actual knowledge that explains to your visitors about the cause and solutions to their issues, answers which they can apply in practice. Through helpful information, your audiences would sure be enticed to sign up with your site.
The next thing you should do when setting up a sales page is to highlight the strengths of your business. This is important because people will know what you can give them, and what will be their money’s worth. Make sure that the features you promote are either in bold, capital letters, or in slightly bigger fonts. This makes it easier for your audiences to read your items and evaluate them right away.
Another effective website marketing strategy you must do is to use white space. Having a clear, white background on your website enables your target market to read better and scroll better on your page. Dark backgrounds and contrasting colors will only make your site annoying, and you would lose more potential customers because of this.
Post a video on your page. Videos are truly of great help to every website promotion technique you would want to apply on your site. By posting videos, your audiences would see who they are dealing with, as well as find out how your services exactly work. You would also add a personal touch by being on the video, and you can speak to your audiences from there.
Videos themselves are already a stand alone website marketing strategy. When you post videos on social media sites such as YouTube, you get to inform your audiences orally about your site, and what it can give them. Some people prefer watching videos first before they proceed to the paperwork, so it is best to have them on your page.

If you have recently started an online business, you are no doubt facing the difficult task of trying to promote your website without sufficient capital to do much advertising. It is a catch-22; you need to spend a lot of money on advertising to launch an internet business so that you can make some money, but you need to make some money so that you actually have some dollars to spend on advertising.
To get money for advertising, you could take on a business partner who is willing to fund the company to get your marketing campaign going, or perhaps you could turn to venture capital to get started. However, unless you already have a lot of solid business contacts, raising money for an internet startup can be almost impossible.
So, what should you do? The solution to all your marketing problems might be an affiliate program. With an affiliate program, anyone who has a website can post an advertisement for your business on their website in the form of a banner or a text link. If someone clicks on that banner or text link and subsequently buys your product or service, you have to pay that affiliate a commission on the sale.
The reason why this is such an excellent marketing strategy is because an affiliate program costs you nothing. You do not have to pay to place your affiliate banner or text link on other websites because you are offering those other website owners a commission on every referral they make, but only if that referral produces a sale.
Not only does having an affiliate program give you an opportunity to make a tremendous amount of sales without spending money on advertising, but it also increases the number of inbound links to your website. The more links to your site, the higher your search engine ranking will be. So, a surge in your link popularity and an additional increase in sales resulting from an improved search engine ranking is a fabulous byproduct of having a popular affiliate program.
Now, you need to learn how to create an affiliate program and how to promote it. To create an affiliate program, you will either need to hire a web designer or programmer who has experience creating these sorts of programs, because they are not easy to set up. The job requires a lot of backend programming work, database creation, and payment tracking so that the referrals and sales that each affiliate produces can be tracked with a special code that is signed to each individual affiliate.

You have probably seen the “Get Number 1 Keyword Position Instantly for any website” self-proclaimed SEO experts and consultants all over the web. I am sure some of them can actually do that through their so-called secrets, but what if your website sucks? You will have spent all that money and time stuffing your site full of keywords, altering your site’s content to the point where it barely makes sense to humans and you have achieved your Ultimate Goal — “Google Domination”. That is the problem — your goal.
Shouldn’t your goal be to grow your business, get customers, and sell your product or services?
Your site should be designed for people, not just search engines.
I’m sure you understand Google is never going to buy your product — but neither are people if they follow your top ranked link and find… nothing useful.
Can your site be found? SEO can help – but it is one small piece of the greater whole. Quality content which is updated regularly, site design & structure, and insightful marketing are what will make you “Findable”.
It is too easy to get caught up in the competitive nature of search engine ranking for keywords and lose sight of what you are really trying to do. Good quality, regularly updated content is the foundation of any internet marketing SEO strategy.
The job of the search engine is to direct users to what they are looking for. By trying to trick the search engines, you are trying to trick potential customers. Not a great first impression. Make sure you are able to give users what they are looking for and it will be much easier to get that high rank you want. Give your website viewers useful, high quality content such as videos or informative or entertaining blog posts and you will be rewarded with better PageRank, repeat views, quality leads and increased sales!
SEO used to refer to things like making sure the structure and navigation of a site is user friendly, efficient in size and speed, and making sure your title and meta tags matched your message. It still is all that, but the term has been abused by “internet marketers” who can’t seem to figure out how to market anything more than information about “internet marketing”. It is almost like the work at home schemes where you buy a report on how to sell the same report to other people.
That does not mean that SEO should be ignored. Search engine optimization really is essential to the success of your site. However, it must be more than just keyword tricks and those should not be the main part of your strategy. “Real” and effective SEO is not just all the magic tricks and schemes, but is a process that should be taken into account in all phases of development and marketing. Your content should be clear, concise and effective in getting your message across. If it does that, your keywords will already be in it! Your website or blog must function properly — people (and search engines) need to be able to navigate around it. For SEO, quality content is step one, user-friendliness or “usability” is the next step before starting keyword meta tag manipulation and backlink building. Really, most of it should be done all at the same time. It is that holistic synergy thing or whatever new buzzwords I come up with to say “your stuff all has to work together toward the same goal, with each part enhancing the ability of the other parts to achieve their individual goals because it works so much better that way”. And yes, all those SEO rules and criteria you have read about are very important, too. But they are constantly changing. Keeping up to date on what is important to the search engines — keyword placement, title tags, link popularity, inbound link text, H1 usage, what social media sites have bookmarks to the site, what color socks the web developer was wearing — that requires dedication, continuous research, and a true passion for this line of work… or at least a slightly obsessive compulsive personality.
To do it well also requires a talent in addition to knowledge and diligence. The ability to gain insight regarding what people will type into the search box, what they will click on when they see it, and what will be useful to them and will work for your goals. SEO services work well on their own, but work much better when integrated with the design process, marketing, and even video production. Quality content combined with technical excellence and insightful analysis and marketing instinct. Synergy.
