You should recognise that it is easy to make info marketing errors that could have the effect of sinking your efforts and not rewarding you with the satisfaction of achieving sales and success. Yet by following methods that have brought success to other marketers, you will be able to avoid many of the pitfalls that scupper so many people’s desires to succeed online.
The first info marketing error is a failure to undertake extensive research into the market that you are seeking to enter. It is all very well to say that you know and are familiar with your intended market, but it is often being so close to it that you fail to really ensure that the idea is likely to succeed. You must undertake the same amount of research as if you were entering a market for the first time. You need to know about what people’s problems are, what solutions they are seeking, who is already providing what and how to the market, the price models, the marketing strategies etc. And don’t forget to ask the question of is anybody actually seeking the solution that you intend to offer.
Another related error is researching a market, then another and then formulate ideas on a third potential market. You then go back to the first idea and then all of a sudden an idea for something completely different appears. You can realise that you have been very busy with making much headway at all. Lots of ideas are worked on, but there is no implementation to progress these.
When you have an idea, researched the market, developing the product, website, marketing strategy, you are forever adjusting, tweaking and redoing something. This is the internet business error of trying to make it perfect. You have to accept that it will never be perfect. It is better to get the product on your website and marketed, then go back and take a look at what may need changing and implement that over a period of time. Ask customers for feedback, and they will advise you of the good and bad points. You can then use this as an opportunity to offer a revised addition. This error can also relate to your website. Something may not be in quite the right place or look correct but you can’t get it working perfectly. Don’t waste any more time. Get it live and sort it out later.
Another aspect of the website or product is the false belief that you can only use professional graphics. You do not have to use these every single time you publish a website page or product such as a report. Quickly create a graphic yourself or how about making it part of the marketing that you just had to get this hot information out to your prospects or customers, asking them if they would rather wait and have lovely graphics or get the must have information that will solve a problem now.
Errors relating to pricing a product do include under pricing. Don’t fall into the trap of believing that no-one will pay “only” that for your product. Have you asked them? What you need to do is increase your price and see what the result is. If it still sells in the same quantities, then increase it again. Keep doing this until you reach a price sensitive point. Don’t leave money on the table! And please don’t compete on price. You will lose money and reputation. Leave that to others with deep pockets.
The last error, which has been done by everyone at some point is trying to do everything yourself. You do not have all the skills and it will take you much longer. By using your time much more effectively, you can concentrate on the parts of your internet business that is most cost effective for you. Why spend time doing a task when you can pay someone a small fraction of what it is costing you in your time to devote to that task?
Through awareness of these info marketing errors, you can ensure that you are giving yourself every opportunity to achieve success and avoid the reasons that can stop you from progressing and ensuring that you are maximising the potential of your idea.

The Seven Deadly Sins Made By Church Websites

Having seen thousands of church websites from many denominations and throughout many countries, I’ve seen the good, the bad and the downright ugly! As a result I thought I’d draw up a list of the most common church website mistakes.
It’s obviously been done by an amateur. Most churches will try and find a member of the congregation to produce a website for them. Normally to cut costs. No problem with that, but if you are serious about attracting visitors and communicating effectively with your members then you might have to pay someone to do a professional job. If your design looks shabby and amateur, then that is what people are going to perceive about your church if they haven’t experienced it in person. It doesn’t relate to the unchurched. Your church website should first and foremost be written with the unchurched person in mind. Now that may shake the foundations of most church websites, but we must understand that although we obviously want to relate to church members, the church is not an exclusive community. So many church websites are full of Christian jargon resulting in unbelievers being confused and alienated. And whilst we’re talking about wording, make sure that your content is well written, with no spelling mistakes or bad grammar. Write your copy in conversational terms and use lots of words like ‘you’, ‘your’, ‘I’ and ‘our’ to make it personable and engaging. It’s not easy to navigate. If your page links are hard to find, not grouped together carefully or not consistent on every page, people will quickly become frustrated and it won’t take them long to browse away from your site. So often church web designers pay more attention to graphics, animations and other ‘eye-candy’ that the site becomes overloaded with various elements competing for attention. Your church website may look fantastic with lots of eye-candy, but it can easily become like a merry-go-round – brief excitement, appeal and attractiveness, but actually doesn’t get you anywhere and leaves you in a spin! People will browse your site for a purpose, so you need clear signposts for them as they navigate your church website. The type size is too small. This is one of the greatest mistakes across all types of website, and unsurprisingly makes our list of church website mistakes as well. Anything between 12 – 14 pixels should be about right, depending on the typeface you use. You might want to try adding a little line spacing also, to make it easier on the eye. Rather than cramming in loads of words and reducing the font size, make your text shorter. The information is out of date. Latest church news from last month (or dare I even say last year) is old news and portrays your church as being ‘behind the times’ and ‘irrelevant’ (two main objections that unbelievers already have with church without us making a further rod for our backs). You simply have to put the time in to keep your church website up to date. Designate someone to supply and update the news section or discipline yourself to write short blogs every few days which will keep the site constantly fresh and alive. The church building is more prominent than the people. The church isn’t your building, the people are. Yes, pictures of your facilities are a good reference point and are relevant for people to get a ‘feel’ of your facilities, but don’t plaster them all over the home page. Rather, have pictures of people – ideally your own people. Get someone handy with a camera to take loads of shots of different people in different situations (natural, not posed) and select the best ones to go on your site. (Remember to get permission from everyone before you upload them.) Religious music starts playing or stereotypical images appear. Don’t impose your taste of Christian music on your website visitors – even if you think it is ‘anointed’. Research shows that most people find music played automatically as annoying. Have it available by all means (if it’s relevant, of good quality and legal!), but not set to play when the page loads. On the graphics front, if your church website has a ‘rotating cross’, a ‘dove flapping its wings’ or any other similar images/effects, then your site is very out of date. What may have worked 10 or 15 years ago certainly doesn’t work now.

Seven Things to Avoid When Looking For Link Partners

Designing a Reciprocal Link Campaign can be a tricky endeavor. As a webmaster, you must choose your linking partners wisely. Generally, a good rule of thumb is to ask yourself one question: “Will this be a valuable resource to my readers?” If you view it as a legitimate, valuable website, chances are Google will too.
Below you will find 7 tips for avoiding the major pitfalls new web developers often encounter.
1.) Do not link to sites that are irrelevant to yours. Search engines only view relevant reciprocal links as a means of improving your Page Ranking.
2.) Avoid sites that have a “Links Page” that is hard to find. Some sites don’t even connect their home page to the links page. If this is the case, you probably will not benefit from the exchange.
3.) Avoid sites that contain more than 25 to 50 links per page. Your link will be hard to find, plus the site has the potential to be viewed as an FFA site. Better safe than sorry.
4.) Do not link to sites with directories that are haphazardly arranged with no categorization. Again, it could be a “Link Farm;” plus your site’s address will be hard to find.
5.) Make sure you only link to sites that you deem worthy of your readers’ time. Avoid sites that don’t contain valuable information. The best way to gain readership is by offering a valuable resource!
6.) Avoid sites that have poor linking strategies and/or are connected to “Link Farms.” You don’t want to be lumped into a category with sites like these.
7.) Avoid linking to a lot of sites with a low PR. A few are ok, but generally aim for sites with a higher PR than yours.
Once you have found websites that you want to exchange links with, start networking! Email other webmasters and tell them all of the reasons their readers will benefit from reading your site. Show them that their site will be prominently displayed in a small organized directory on your page as well.
Send a pre-made html link to your site so that it’s a simple cut-and-paste job for them. If the exchange appears to be too time consuming, most webmasters will overlook your request. Most importantly, show politeness and courtesy in your emails. You will be surprised at how many people respond to your inquiry when asked appropriately.
If you still have trouble finding reciprocal links, try creating contests on your own site. Offer a small prize, or simply a prominently displayed link on your homepage. If your site distributes a newsletter, offer free advertising for participating link partners.
If you find a site you really like, write a short review about it and display the site’s link. It will be hard for a webmaster to pass up the opportunity to brag about a good review. Get creative! The more web developers you talk to, the more possibilities there are for increasing your link popularity. The key is, be patient, and be persistent. Even if you only acquire one third of the links you pursue, your efforts will be well-rewarded.

Research the pros and cons of tables as compared to frames and use the one that is right for you, and try to steer clear of non-HTML file types such as Adobe PDF and Microsoft Word documents.
SEO Tips #2: Use keywords in your text that the search engine will hit upon.
By using the right keywords in your website text you should get some outstanding results when someone searches for your site. The key to search engine optimization is getting your website to the number one spot when the search results are displayed. Use words that describe what your website is about and words that you think other people would use to search for the information you are presenting. Take your time and if you have to, take a look at other websites and see what keywords they are using to score the results they are getting.
SEO Tips #3: Review the information on your page such as headings to see if it is helping or hindering your page rankings.
This particular SEO tip should be done every few months. The information in your page title and header should include not only the description of your website, but also a keyword or two so that the search engines hit on it immediately.
SEO Tips #4: Add META tags and META description tags to all of your pages.
When you use a search engine to find a website, it usually returns a small paragraph telling you what the website is about. This is the META and META description tags. By using keywords in these and including them on all of your web pages – remember, if properly done the search engine will go to one of your web pages as compared to the homepage – you will be able to quickly and efficiently tell the search engine and the visitor what you are all about. This is a very important SEO tip that should not be ignored.
SEO Tips #5: Utilize link popularity. A trick used by Google, link popularity is used to rank your search engine.
This is done by the search engine seeking out all of the other websites and pages that are linked to your website. The more sites that carry a link to you, the better.
SEO Tips #6: List your site with Google’s Open Directory Project for more recognition.
Google is partial to websites that are listed in the Open Directory Project, so do your best to get your website listed in there.

Even if your Spa does start with a bang, it’s always wise to have a marketing plan in place and to keep up your marketing initiatives. You never know when the next economic dip could arrive unexpectedly or perhaps the competition moves in next door! Here are seven inexpensive marketing tips for assisting you in making your business a success.
1. Own a website
You must have a website in this day and age and this needn’t cost you a fortune. Don’t be shy to shop around for website quotes. Ask to see previous work and find a web designer who is both a good designer and who has search engine optimisation (SEO) knowledge. It’s no use just having a pretty picture online that no-one can ever find, so be sure to quiz your potential designer on their SEO knowledge and design your site with content in mind rather than beauty. Of course, your site has to look visually great, but it should also be optimised for the web in terms of content and keywords. For example, when someone types in “Spa” or “Dayspa” into Google, you want your website to pop up on the homepage.
I would also recommend writing the content for your website yourself initially. This will help you to clarify what you want in terms of your navigation and other elements on your site. For example, a booking request form that gets e-mailed to you and a “subscribe to newsletter” box.
2. Market your website through online marketing tools

-Social Networking – start a Twitter and a Face book profile and update regularly. (go online and research how to do this)
-Google Adwords. If you have a marketing budget, set some money aside for Google Adwords. Again, go online and research this cost per click marketing option.
3. Build your own database as fast as possible
So many spas I have consulted to in the past do not keep a record of their own clients. This is a marketing crime. The quickest and best way to start increasing your revenue is to market to your own customers first. These people are already frequenting your establishment so it should be an easy sell to get them back again. (Provided they had a positive experience the first time).
So, build your database. Capture their e-mail and cell phone details and then send them regular updates – for instance on your Specials. Which brings us to the next point…
4. Create a Specials/Promotions Calendar to market to your database.
There are twelve months in a year, make sure you have twelve specials lined up, especially for “Special Events” such as Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Mother’s Day etc. Do not forget these important dates where people are looking to do something extra special with someone they love. And don’t just do whatever everyone else is doing, be creative! Think of your own specials that will set you apart from others. You needn’t always think “Discounts”. You can also think “Added Value”. For instance, purchase a full day spa package and receive a French manicure set for free!
5. E- Mail & SMS your database
Now that you have your database and you have your specials lined up, how do you get the information to your clients? Through e-mail and sms marketing tools. E-Mail and/or sms your own database every week or at least every month with your weekly or monthly specials. Don’t spam them every day as this will become irritating, but once a week is acceptable and once a month is a must.
There are quite a few mailing and sms’ing tools out there that offer great rates and also have stunning newsletter templates to choose from. I use Graphicmail which is very user friendly and has great support and offers a 3 month trial, so give it a bash. Alternatively, do research on the internet and choose one that best fits your needs.
6. Gift Vouchers
Gift Vouchers are another great way of marketing your Spa so make sure you offer them. Print out Spa Gift Vouchers and keep them in a very visible location, for instance, at reception where people pay. This will remind them to buy their friends or family gifts where they otherwise may not have thought of it.
Selling Gift Vouchers is a great way to “soft market” your business to new customers while at the same time generating revenue. You should also consider selling Gift Vouchers online from your website. Your web designer will be able to assist you with this.
7. Public Relations (PR)
Paying for magazine or newspaper advertisements is extremely expensive and needs a great deal of repetition in order to be effective, so a great way of getting into magazines for free is through Public Relations (PR).
