Today, the life cannot be imagined in the absence of Internet. It is the epicenter for all types of information from sports to games, leisure to recreation, entertainment to education, creation to devotion and so on.
Internet brings all people across the globe on to the same platform to share and exchange one’s knowledge and wisdom with the rest.
What is Internet marketing:
All the products, besides their quality, should also be marketed properly for yielding better profits to the company.
Due to lack of proper awareness and skilled marketing personnel, the concept of internet marketing has risen to prominence.
Thus, the process of promoting a product on all online methods (such as online portals, websites, online journals, blogs, through social networking sites, etc.) is called internet marketing.
With in a very short span of time, it has began to play a pivotal role in the life of an individual. Today, for every product and problem, the first solution that comes to one’s mind is Internet.

Internet marketers who have already achieved something in Internet marketing always put them up. Those are the marketers who in this case I will call the winners of Internet marketing.
And this brings us to the topic of this article In Internet Marketing, Isn’t a winner always a Looser?”
Would your answer to such a question be a yes or a no?
Mine would be a yes.
To understand this, you would need to first ask your self why those successful Internet marketing gurus are publicly exposing their past losses. The purpose is to draw your attention so that they win your mind. End result is you subscribe to their newsletter, ezine or simply join their mailing list. For more details visit to www.perpetual-traffic-generator.com .They want to show you that loosing is part of winning in Internet marketing. Loosing is a route to winning. That is their aim. They want to show you how they incurred losses due to poor decisions so that you can avoid them.
Well, if you are new to Internet marketing, you have realized that Internet marketing is one tuff racket to make money in. You will find your self-spending hundreds and even thousands of dollars on the next greatest thing to skyrocket you to the top. Buying high cost hype. Do It Now, Retire By-Monday, and Make Millions over Night Internet marketing and promotion software and information.
Then once you buy all that hype you have to buy the next product to get you to the next step, and then you need another product to optimize that! And to make it better you need to get another product! Oh and here is another suggestion, buy this product to boost that product even more!
As a result, you will want to give up thinking that Internet marketing is just a money drain with no profits coming from it.
No Internet marketing is a very profitable undertaking. There is a lot of money to be made. But only if: (1) You know how to approach it and (2) You have the correct mindset at the start.
So what Mindset should you have?
The mindset you should have at the very beginning is that of never giving up. It is true that you will loose money here and there. That should not make you give up. Just know that those who become successful also experienced some losses at first. I have lost a lot of money in Internet marketing but I have also got more than what I lost. The Late Cory Rudl lost some money at the start, but he died leaving a successful marketing team that make over six million per year. Mike Filsaime and other Internet marketing experts also faced the same setbacks, but they persevered.
You will be told that ezine advertising is very effective. You will try it and yet get like only one sale. You have lost money. Not so? Should you give up on ezine advertising? No you should not.
Reason is that, the truth is ezine advertising is cost effective and can give you a very quick return on investment. You will also loose money in ad words and other ppc advertising, but should you give it up. No it is very effective. That is why top Internet marketing experts
continue using it.
So what is the problem then? The problem is that you do not know how to play the game. You do not know the rules of Internet marketing.
Here is how you should approach Internet marketing:
1- Always enlist the help of a mentor.
You do not have to re-invent the wheel. Many people have done what you are trying to do and they have succeeded in it. So just look over their shoulders for guidance. Buy their e-books, the software they use, attend their seminars, participate in their live call and so on. This will reduce on your learning curve and cut down on the losses you would
have incurred while shortening on your pay back period.
2- Track and Test.
For every dollar that you spend on Internet marketing, make sure it is tracked. Track your ezine and ad words ads to see which one delivers and which one does not. Which ezine is responsive and which one is a waste of your money. Test your sales copy. Test your website conversion ratio. In other words, test and track virtually all aspects of your business and marketing campaigns. The purpose should be to improve and cut down on unnecessary losses.
3- Invest in your self.
Similar to number one, do a lot of reading related to Internet marketing. Download free reports, buy Internet marketing e-books, and listen to Internet marketing audios and videos so that you get to know what works and what does not work.
4- Do not go for free

Should You Put Google Ads On Your Ecommerce Site?

One of the biggest debates in the ecommerce world is whether to post PayPerClick advertisements on a website, or not. Many sites are using video advertisements to improve the look and feel of their sites. Others are hoping that PayPerClick will offer a passive source of income, but this short-term thinking may cost the company serious profits.
The purpose of a PayPerClick ad is to take a visitor from your website and put them on another website. This person leaves before they ever see the host company’s squeeze page, buy-now page, or Social Networking tools. This means that a potential customer is gone for good. The problem is – the ads on the host company’s website represent the competition.
PayPerClick Passive Income
On one side of the debate is the idea that PayPerClick lets ecommerce businesses generate some revenue from people who were going to leave the website anyway. The problem arises when the website looks at the actual numbers.
It takes several months before Google starts registering clicks, even if thousands of people have already clicked the link. Even when Google does start registering links, they rarely register more than one half of the actual links. In many cases, Google counts less than half.
Then, there is the Page Rank Trap. Google only pays a percentage of the money promised, based on the site’s page rank. A site can build more than 10 000 inbound links and 1000 pages of content and still have only Page Rank 3, earning about .05% of Google’s promised payout. Many sites (non MFA – Made For Adsense) work for 2 – 3 years before they earn 0 a month.
A website can make hundreds of dollars a month from Adsense, as long as the primary purpose of the site is to generate PayPerClick traffic.
PayPerClick Traffic
Many ecommerce businesses sign up for a PayPerClick program through Yahoo or Google to generate traffic. While the search engine advertising companies promise that they do not favor their advertisers, it is foolish not to. They are only cutting their throats letting sites which do not use their ads to rank higher than the sites who do use their ads.
From this side of the fence, PayPerClick is a good deal, because you are the company stealing customers from the competition. However, very few PayPerClick programs give the advertiser control over sites they appear on.
Google does, to a certain extent. It is possible to visit a major competitor’s site, which generates millions more hits than your site does, and place an ad on their pages. However, this does not guarantee that these same people will not click off your website.
Rule #1 of Sales
The first rule of sales is to hook a potential customer. This means keeping them on the host ecommerce site, and encouraging them to click through the links until they reach the buy now page.
There are some crafty ways to do this. For example, make the link bar to squeeze pages and buy-now pages look like PayPerClick ads. Another trick is to lead people from one website owned by the host company to another of their sites, in effect, creating a big circle.
However, make sure that the main pages are optimized with no=follow code in the links. Search engines penalize this type of ‘black hat’ SEO trick. The no=follow code in the ads will prevent the search engines from penalizing the site.
Both of these tricks will keep potential visitors inside the company’s ecommerce sites.
Another trick is to use a ‘default’ internal search tool. Instead of Google’s search, use one that defaults inside the ecommerce network’s sites, instead of on the world wide web.
Keeping customers is the only way to increase profits, and retain customers.

Should You Use Forex Trading Software?
Anyone can learn to trade forex if they are serious enough. The basis is simple; you buy one currency and sell if for another at a higher exchange rate then what you bought it for. Foreign currency exchange was a market dominated by the big boys early on who could move millions daily, but now the little guys can make some noise in the forex market.
The problem is that there is still a lot of technical jargon a lot of new investors don’t understand. This prevents them from being able to trade with consistency and make healthy profits. But a solution had come up for that as well, there is now several types of software that is supposed to help the novice forex trader have the same impact as the big boys, but are these software programs any good? Let’s get into what some of these software’s are.
The two types of software explained
There are generally two different types of software out there to help forex traders; the first one is client based software. This is a type of software that you have to install directly onto your computer to be able to use. With this software you can easily spot market trends, see chart analysis and spot profitable situations that you can move on quickly. The only problem with client based software is that you are limited to the computer it is installed on.
This means that if you wanted to go somewhere else and do your trading you would have to have the same machine with you at all times. You computer may also not be as secure as you may think it is. If your computer is not secure then the security of your software might be jeopardized as well putting you in a rather uncomfortable position. So keep this in mind with client based software.
The second type of forex trading software is web based software. This is much more secure and mobile as you’ll be able to use your internet application to log on anywhere where there is internet access. You will usually have an account online that you log into and that you can trade any time you get ready.
Web based software tends to have much more stringent security features that make it much more difficult for hackers and intruders to get into your account. You may have to pay a bit extra so that you can get frequent updates to the software, but this is a small price to pay for added security and features.
When deciding to use either one of these software tools, try to take into consideration just how serious you are about becoming a successful forex trader. The more frequently you plan on doing it then the more you should be willing to invest in the best software out there. If you plan to only use it part time then a nice client based software may be right for you. If you have a demanding job then you might want to be able to trade the forex on the fly so you will want a web bases application.

Trying to choose between doing a blog or email marketing? Marketing Mentor, Ilise Benun, explains the pros and cons of both
Both blogs and e-letters (a.k.a. e-zines or e-mail newsletters) are ideal marketing tools for small-business owners. They give you two inexpensive ways to communicate with your customers, give them useful advice, and reveal your latest products and services.
But though they have the same purpose, they are very different.
First, let’s define our terms.
A blog is a website that you can create yourself using Web-based software. Blogs tend to have a personal flavor and speak in the distinct voice of the blogger. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. Unlike a traditional, static website, the content or information posted on a blog is up-to-the-minute, frequently updated (although it doesn’t have to be), and displayed in reverse chronological order, the most recent posting first. Also, readers can contribute their comments, turning the blog into an online conversation.
The most effective email marketing is done with an electronic newsletter that you send out regularly via e-mail to a list of people who have given you permission to do so. The content of an email newsletter is more evergreen. It can be anything from news about you and your business to tips that demonstrate your expertise. When you use an e-mail marketing service or software, it’s also very easy to design and send.
The main difference between the two is this: You “push” an email newsletter to your list so you control the contact, while a blog is a “pull.” Readers have to go there on their own, so you have a lot less (or no) control over the contact. The quality of the readers is different too. Email newsletter readers went out of their way to sign up, so you can consider them “A leads” for your marketing messages. They’ve essentially raised their hands and asked you to keep in touch. Blog readers, on the other hand, are information hounds, so they may not be as responsive.
Let’s compare.
A blog is easier to set up – but not by much. It literally takes 10 minutes to create, and you don’t need any technical expertise. However, you have less freedom with the layout due to the limitations of most blog publishing software (especially the most popular and free ones, like blogger.com and typepad.com). With an e-letter, on the other hand, it takes a bit more time to create the prototype and template, whether in text or html. But once that’s done, you just type the text for each issue into that template and send it out.
It takes more time to write an email newsletter. Most small-business owners take time to write and edit their e-letters, as they should. Because you’re pushing your email newsletter to people, asking them to read what you’ve written, it has to be well-thought-out, concise, and to the point. On the other hand, since a blog tends to be made up of snippets of ideas posted frequently (sometimes several times a day), bloggers don’t labor over their text.
Plus, a blog is less formal, because it’s like a conversation. That means “you can speak in your everyday voice, which is (hopefully) friendly and approachable.” So says Colleen Wainwright, a.k.a. The Communicatrix, a graphic designer who blogs. “On a blog, the expectations are much lower for both grammar and formality. Also, you can combine personal and professional elements in your blog; how much of each depends on what you’re comfortable with and what your prospective clientele will be comfortable reading. You can write about anything (and many people do), but if you’re using it to promote your business, it will be most effective if you focus and use the blog to establish your credibility within that narrow niche.”
My email newsletter, Quick Tips from Marketing Mentor, goes out weekly, and between the writing, editing, and layout, I spend approximately one hour on each issue. My blogging takes a half-hour on a Sunday morning. That’s when I draft and schedule my three posts for the week. Each one is usually no longer than a paragraph or two with a couple of links. At least one post is simply a link to an article I like, plus a little intro from me about why I think it’s relevant. If your e-letter goes out more frequently – like Early to Rise – the time you spend on it expands by leaps and bounds.
It takes more time to maintain a blog. For most people, creating fresh content several times a week, or even weekly, requires a certain mindset. It isn’t even that it takes so much time to create the material. (Blog posts are mostly very short pieces accompanied by a link.) What takes time is getting into the groove of blogging – and that involves much more than posting to your own blog. It includes visiting other people’s blogs, reading their posts, and commenting on them. It’s not difficult. It just takes time and practice to get into that mode. Email newsletters, on the other hand, don’t carry the same expectation of freshness, so there is a lot less pressure to produce. You send it out when you like – daily, twice-weekly, monthly, or even occasionally.
A blog attracts more Web traffic. Even if no one ever reads your blog, posting to it regularly can be a tremendous boon to your search engine rankings because search engines love fresh content. Any website with new content will come up earlier in search engine rankings than a site that hasn’t been changed in months (or years). Meanwhile, the traffic an email newsletter drives to your website consists of those who already know you, not new prospects and leads.
Both inspire trust in the visitor. Inspiring trust depends more on the tone you take than the format. If you’ve spent time composing your email newsletter, it will show, and that certainly inspires trust. A blog, with its rapid-fire and often impassioned comments, can convey a sense of impulsiveness, which rarely inspires trust. Trust is important on the Internet (a very anonymous medium), because unless people trust you, they’re not going to buy from you.
If you don’t already have a website to promote your business, a blog is a good first step in that direction. It provides a way for people to find you online without your spending a lot of money or time working with a Web designer or learning Web design software. In fact, some people use a blog as their one and only Web presence.
If you already have a website and are ready to branch out with an email newsletter or a blog, which one should you start with? That depends on your goal. If your goal is to generate revenue from a known group of prospects, an email newsletter is the right choice. If you are less focused on revenue-generation and are looking instead to position yourself as an expert and make it easier for new prospects to find you online, a blog is better.
If both goals make sense in your business plan, by all means do both. Blogs and email newsletter work beautifully hand-in-hand.
Here’s how we do that at Marketing Mentor: I want to be able to reach out to my qualified prospects on a regular basis, to keep reminding them who I am and what I have to offer. I don’t want to wait for them to come back to my website or find time to read my blog. I want to be in their inboxes, rather than on their browsers.
So we have a static website marketing-mentor.com/, with content that doesn’t change very often, an e-mail newsletter, Quick Tips from Marketing Mentor, that we send out to a list of 8,000 qualified prospects every other week, plus a blog, marketingmixblog.com/, where we post ideas and tidbits at least three times a week.
We use the newsletter to drive traffic to the blog and the website, while the blog also gets our search engine rankings up. People who find the blog are encouraged to sign up for the e-mail newsletter, so we can stay in touch with them and nurture those relationships. We also use the e-mail newsletter to sell e-books, mp3s, and other electronic products. That would never work on the blog.
People need to be motivated to buy from you, and the best way to motivate them is by landing in their inboxes. If the copy is compelling and the timing is right, a connection or a sale is just a click away.

What is Joomla and Should I Use It For My Website Content Management System?

What is Joomla?
Joomla is an open-source Content Management System (CMS). It is also a powerful application framework, which means it is designed so many different website capabilities can be added by using “extensions” or mini-applications.
Joomla’s roots go back to 2000 and Joomla has emerged in the last few years as one the most popular open-source CMS applications being used, and boasts having over 200,000 community users and contributors.
Joomla! uses PHP and mySQL and is extremely versatile. It is more than simply popular-it just works well and a volunteer community keeps making it better and better.
How Does Joomla Work?
Like all Content Management Systems, Joomla uses a database to contain all the website’s content or text, then combines the text with a website template design in order to create website pages.
An Adminstrator page allows the website administrator to log in and have control over the entire website, for creating menu structures, adding extensions, new pages. Joomla allows you to assign different users different levels of capabilities.
For instance, you may need to have a few people writing content for the website, but not able to publish the content. Other staff can have the ability to edit and publish. This approach is great for organizations where you need many contributors, but you need to keep strict control over the website’s content.
Built-in User Registration
One of Joomla’s most powerful features is that it can register users and give approved users access to website menus and pages not visible to the general public.
The user registration and user login system can be used for giving your employees access to employee-only pages, or giving your customers access to customer-only pages, or sales representatives access to their own area – or all of the above.
You can also easily email all registered users, so keeping groups of people using your website informed is easy to do.
If you do not need user registration, you can easily disable this feature.
How is Joomla Being Used?

Why is Joomla so Versatile?
Because Joomla is open-source, there are thousands of “extensions” or small mini-components available. These extensions are created by individual programmers and some commercial software companies, which work within the Joomla! framework to give your website many different capabilities-from social networking to ecommerce and more.
Joomla is like having a modular house design. If you need another room for your house, you just add another room module. With Joomla, if you need an event registration page and database capture, you can simply add an event “extension” to the website.
Who can Install and Use Joomla?
You do not have to be a “techie” to install and use Joomla, but you should have a working knowledge of how to set up a database on a web server and how to install and configure a web-based application.
Joomla can be installed on any server that supports PHP and mySQL.
Most Joomla installations will require some website customization to add a color scheme to the website template and to add your branding to the website. Because of all the many things Joomla can do from the start, often a great deal of time is needed to configure the website and turn off or disable features not needed.
Editing and Publishing Made Easy
Where Joomla really shines is once it is installed and configured. You and your staff can easily edit website content, upload photographs and create new pages, all without having to know HTML.
If you have a large website with information that changes quickly or news that needs to be added daily, Joomla is a great CMS.
Joomla has many extensions for managing news articles, and can automatically rotate new content into pages or areas of pages you designate. You can also set the date to automatically publish or expire articles or content within the website.

Search by keyword and advanced search capability Registration system for users with different menus for different groups Users can be assigned editing and publishing privileges Entirely web-based administration system Uses PHP and mySQL Open source code Over 3,800 extensions to provide many exciting website features
Getting Familiar With Joomla
The joomla.org website offers you quite a lot of information about Joomla, including an online demo, forums and documentation.
There are links to actual websites using Joomla on the joomla.org website which will show you how different Joomla can be made to look and how it is being used.
Is Joomla Right for Your Website?
Given how versatile Joomla, and the number of Extensions available to give the content management system so many additional features, the answer is yes.
Keep in mind that Joomla is free, but there are some licensing restrictions, so be sure to read the fine print.
While most of the over 3,800 extensions are free to download and use, some extensions are not free, and individual extension support can vary from minimal to extremely good and everything else in between.
Lastly, because there are so many extensions, plan on spending a lot of time reviewing, downloading, installing and testing extensions.

12 Things You Really Should Know About SEO

From the very beginning of the Internet, the number one challenge which all of us have faced is how to attract qualified visitors to our websites. Throughout the boom years, one of the most popular solutions was to get massive funding, relatively easy to get in those days, and “buy” traffic, by various means.
As an iconoclastic young developer, with ambitions of beating the “big boys” at their own game, more time than money or the connections to get it, I sought a less capital intensive methodology to achieve the same results. Years of study and rapt attention to the pertinent forums, trying everything that even seemed to make sense (making many mistakes along the way, and learning much from each one), then carefully monitoring the results, has lead to many highly workable tools in our SEO bag of tricks. The outcome of these trial and error methods, (lots of both) lays the foundation of our SEO services and the basis for the ongoing growth of traffic to your website and ours.
The simple fact of the matter is this: Expertise in any other form of writing in no way qualifies one for the type of writing required to optimize a website for the Internet. There are many sites which have less than correct punctuation, grammar, and even spelling which rank #1 in their optimized search phrases. This is not to say that I don’t think these things are important, only that to be found in the search engines, they are not the most important consideration.
The flip side of this argument is equally true. Just because someone knows all the ins and outs of all of the search engines, can write algorithms in their sleep, has lunches with Dr. Eric Schmidt and is on a first name basis with Larry Page and Sergey Brin, does not, in any way, make them a writer. All of the writing on this site was done as a collaborative venture between Susan K. Thompson, a professional writer with strong academic credentials and real world experience, in both business and marketing, and myself. Was there a lot of editing and re-write? Yes. Were there disagreements? You bet! Was it worth it? Look at the record.
Emerald Coast Entrepreneur was launched on May 1, 2005 with most site optimization in place and submission to the directories just beginning. With a total monetary investment of less than 0.00, and a time investment, I’d rather not think about, but which approached 300 hours, the site was given a PR5 ranking by Google on its first update, less than 2 months after our launch.
Studies show that over 90% of all online users use search engines to find what they are looking for, whether products/services, or just plain old information.
The following twelve points will, I hope, summarize a philosophy, approach and methodology to the SEO question which is both sound and effective, along with giving some helpful insight into the industry itself.
1. Content. Content. Content.
Effective, professional, optimized Copywriting is the single, most important factor in any SEO campaign. Search engines index websites based on the content found on each page of the site. With a thorough understanding of the language and grammatical conventions combined with intensive research, to find and exploit the market focus, one can move a website to the upper echelon of the “SERP’s” (Search Engine Results Page) in a methodical as well as ethical manner.
2. Analyze Web Logs.
Measure everything, at least twice, and then check again. While I would be the first to say that many of the procedures that make up website optimization are more art than science, one needs to take a very scientific approach to the results of the effort. This is done by methodically keeping a record of, and making an analysis of the sites web logs. There are a number of specialized software which make the job easier but at the bare minimum, one needs to keep a close eye on the site visitors and their activity while on the site. No matter how well planned the strategy, it is largely theoretical until proven by the results, which can only be measured by the logs, and a thorough analysis of their content.
3. No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google, or any other search engine.
Those who promise such feats will either optimize for such vague search term phrases (such as, “green stunted widgets with purple Polka-dots and icing”) that no one will ever likely look for, or they are making a false claim, which they have no intention of keeping, or they have an inside edge at Google, something which they will lose, quickly, when the honest folks at Google find out about it. The other option, that they will take the money and run, is worth mentioning here but I’ll be polite.
4. Some things are just plain silly.
You don’t need to submit your site to 50,000 search engines. Businesses which offer this service are suspect, at best. 85% of the search results on the Internet come from one search engine, which, if you have one link from an established website, or better yet, a directory, will find your site just fine, on its own. Four (4) search engines account for over 90% of the traffic on the web. As for any supposed benefit which may accrue from being listed in an obscure search engine in Botswana which specializes in safaris to the Kalahari Desert and receives 7 hits per day; well, you figure it out.
5. SEO is not Pay-per-Click.
While no one would argue the effectiveness of getting increased traffic and sales, through a well planned, pay-per-click campaign, the fact remains that the conversion rates are generally low and they cease the moment the “pay” stops. With a well planned and executed SEO campaign, while results may take a bit longer, they continue to produce, and in fact grow, long after the work is done and paid for. Quite often we have found that after a thorough optimization of a site, only minor adjustments are needed on an ongoing basis, primarily related to new content and/or new items of sale or service.
6. SEO is not witchcraft, Druidism, shamanism.
Neither does it require any special chants, ceremonial fires, or vestments, though some of us do like to howl at the full moon, on occasion. There are no “Top Secret” practices which a reputable SEO cannot tell a client, a judge, or his mother, for that matter. The very nature of the Internet has always been cooperative and there is nothing about SEO that can’t be learned, with a heavy dose of time and money. A reputable SEO firm will give you an item per item breakdown of just where the money goes. Be wary if you sense a secretive atmosphere or any unwillingness to answer questions. While there are technical points which might take some background to fully understand, if one has a solid overview of the entire situation, a simple explanation should be easy enough to come up with.
7. Do-it-yourself SEO.
Yes, you can execute your own SEO campaign and find a reputable SEO firm to help plan and organize it for you. About one half of my own clientele do some part of the actual work themselves, or have their in-house dedicated personnel do it, after discussion of the goals and aims of the business/website, a thorough website analysis, comprehensive search phrase research, and focused instruction on the ways and means of achieving high SERPs. These preliminaries are followed up with a detailed program of suggestions and methods which the client can then implement themselves or hire others to perform. Average savings; 30-40%.
8. Phased Implementation.
While many companies spend thousands of dollars per month on Search Engine Optimization, an alternative is available which will pay dividends to you in increased sales and leads without the high initial investment. The most important consideration is to have a reputable firm handle the initial evaluation and suggested optimization planning first. The trial and error method will cost much more, in the long run, with or without the desired result. After studying the plan and establishing a workable budget you may implement the plan as finances allow.
9. Remember the old saying, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
Never was this more true than in the realm of SEO. While concrete and measurable gains will always come from a well thought out and executed optimization strategy, the Internet is a competitive media and we all want to be number one. Accept that a steady upward movement, over time, will place you worlds ahead of a flash followed by a crash.
10. A thought to ponder.
At stake, in the race for the top, is the very existence of your website, your business, and quite possibly your reputation. Beware of any “shortcuts” or less than ethical schemes that anyone might suggest to further your business goals. When it’s all said and done it is you, the business owner, who bears the responsibility for any company or individual you hire. Insist on knowing exactly what the strategy is and what steps are being performed to implement it. If it seems, in the least, suspicious, ask for and get an explanation. In this case, not only is Ignorance not bliss, it could very well be the beginning of the end for your business.
11. All incoming links are not created equal.
Both the relevance to your line of business and website subject matter and the PR value of the incoming link determine how valuable they are to your own PR ranking. With Google starting the trend, nothing new there, and most of the others following close behind, the days of grabbing all the inbound links, in any way possible, are gone. Not only will low ranked and/or irrelevant inbound links not help, they will, in fact, cause a penalty. Link farms, free-for-all link schemes, automated link accumulation software, or any other fad that doesn’t carefully screen the links and websites they are coming from will, in the long run, do more harm than good.
12. It’s more than just facts and figures.
The relationship between an online business and SEO is, perhaps, one of the closest of business relationships. In order to be effective, a SEO must know not only the facts and figures pertaining to the endeavor, but s/he must know something of the dreams and aspirations of the business principals. Things which don’t normally come out in a prospectus are often invaluable information when searching for the “right fit” into the complex world of the Internet. My own clients sometimes ask, due to the frequency of my calls and email in the early phases, “Am I your only client?” I usually laugh and say something to the effect that until I know your business almost as well as you do, yes, you are the only one that counts.

Many online marketers, both new and experienced, have used ppc advertising to advertise their website businesses.
PPC advertising; also known as pay per click advertising or ppc search marketing, has the potential to bring INSTANT traffic to your website.
Additionally, if you only wanted to advertise your brand online, then ppc advertising can allow you to publicize your brand or promote your business name on the Internet, often at little or no cost.
Many a time, however, internet marketing practitioners will encounter problems with their search marketing or ppc advertising campaigns.
An online marketer like you and I could potentially spend large amounts of money on ppc advertising, but yet not make any sales or generate targeted online leads. Some of us may remember watching the number of clicks and our ppc advertising costs rising continually but without having made any sales or acquired many email leads.
What could be worse is that you could end up getting jaded or disillusioned with ppc advertising methods and stop using them completely.
Certainly, setting up an effective ppc advertising campaign may well require a fair amount of time and effort, sometimes over multiple attempts of trial and error.
If you have tried ppc advertising, then you can probably remember all the keyword research, the webpages, tracking codes, keyword tracking systems, website analytics that you had to prepare and monitor?

Your link building campaign should be guided by the trio: highly targeted, high quality links – placed in the right spot on the page – with the right anchor text.
Most certainly, along the way you’ll be tempted to make use of some practices that promise to deliver quick results but that also tend to raise some red flags with Google’s quality standards.
Although beneficial on the short run, these gray and black hated backlink acquisitions will harm your SEO campaign and delay sustainable traffic from showing up in your charts.
List of “don’t do”s to take into consideration:
1. Don’t outsource your link building project unless you verify those you outsource to and they are qualified and aligned with your methods.
2. Don’t search for “keyword phrase” and “submit site” in Google. The vast majority of results are garbage sites.
3. Don’t just get links to your home page, get deep links to any page you want to rank well in Google; the ration should be 30~40% of links going to home page and 60~70% being deep links.
4. Don’t use link building software or send mass emails for links.
5. Don’t hire services which “guarantee” links or allow links added through automation. These kind of services are most likely intricate link farm consisting of a network of separate, highly interlinked websites for the purposes of inflating link popularity.
6. Don’t automate link submission on your webpages; manually approve all link requests.
7. Don’t approve a link request until you ensure that the site has not “faked” its PageRank. Also, verify the page has a current cache date in Google.
8. Don’t burst the link volume on short periods of time. You want to make sure the number of links matches the amount of traffic you’re receiving. Until your site is getting 500 unique visitors per day, I would stick to 5-10 acquired links per day max. In other words, avoid disparities between the number of backlinks to your website and the amount of traffic you’re receiving.
9. Don’t make backlinking decisions based on PageRank. Instead, build backlinks to provide complete solutions to your prospect’s needs.
10. Don’t go after generic keywords which are on the wrong end of the buying cycle. These depict a wide market without addressing specifics which the searcher has in mind (e.g. “buy car”).
11. Don’t search link partners among websites that are competing for the first 100 keywords in your niche market; the chances of getting a link from them are very slim because they are your direct competitors; descent to the next 300-500 keywords, instead.
12. Don’t link to the home page of the directory you’ve submitted to; instead, link to the page where your listing appears.
13. Don’t create so-called a “links page” where you build a page and stuff a bunch of links to “recommended resources”, “links” or “get more information”.
14. Avoid three-way linking schemes. Search engines are getting better at detecting and discounting these links. Google in particular has aggressively begun to target and discount three way links.
