This is used to rectify the defective parts of the site and provides a chance to increase the incoming traffic. Several methods are defined and implemented to increase the traffic to the site. Sometimes the same traffic will become overloaded.
Types of Information:
Web traffic is calculated by the respective website to check the popularity. A lot of information is calculated and all these factors determine the incoming traffic to the site. The list of information is as follows;
1. Total number of visitors to visit the site.
2. The average number of views of a particular page in a site. This is to check whether the content is useful to the visitor and how far it can be improvised.
3. Time spent by a visitor on a particular page as well as the duration for which he used the site.

5. Time when maximum members visit the site. This is used to promote advertisements and pay per click campaigns in the website.
6. Most visited external source for the links in the website.
Types of Traffic:
There are two types of web traffic which is differentiated by the factors that determine the traffic.
Organic Traffic:
This traffic is associated with the positioning of the website in the search engine. Search engines use special programs called spiders to collect information and links for the keywords and phrases and this collection is based upon the Meta tags and internal links that a page may contain. The top sites of the search engine get most of the clicks and hence increase the web traffic.
Natural Traffic:
Natural traffic is caused by the primary names of the website. The domain name, by itself, explains the content of the site. For example, if the user is in need of information about bank deposits, he can go to bankdeposit.com instead of using search engines. This is the most preferred one since it saves time.
Ways To Increase Web Traffic:
The site should be optimized using search engine optimization for user convenience. A lot of links connecting other websites should be provided so that bulk of information is gathered in one place. Pay per click advertisements also increases the popularity of the website. Email and offline marketing is used to promote it. Most wanted and relevant information with periodic update of content will naturally increase the visitors, thus improving the web traffic.
Web Traffic-Overload:
When the traffic to the site is increased, access to a particular page of the web site will slow down or even get prevented. This increase may be unintentional or due to malicious attacks.
Unintentional traffic overload is due to the sudden popularity of the web site due to a happening product, flash news etc.
Malicious traffic is due to the denial of service attacks which overwhelm the website with the maximum content so that it cannot cope up.
Access Limitation:
Certain websites have access limitations to certain visitors on certain pages of the site. For such authorization, passwords are used. This is used to minimize the traffic in specific areas. The traffic can also be reduced by minimizing the bandwidth and the number of connections.

You’ve possibly heard the saying that without web traffic you’re nobody online! Unfortunately that saying is true, because online traffic is a euphemism (translates) for visitors. Without visitors to your site you’re never going to make the sale. It is clearly illustrated by this scenario; you may have the world’s best invention or product that could literally turn the world upside down overnight but if nobody knows about it, nobody cares about it! Business folklore is peppered with tales of geniuses who died penniless and in squalor (all the while sitting on a goldmine of an invention) just because they couldn’t get the public interested in their product.

There’s web traffic and then there’s web traffic!
Social Media Web Traffic
Fortunately recent changes in internet trends have made it a lot easier to get internet traffic. These changes are due to the widely adopted transition to Web 2.0 and the explosion of social media sites. Web traffic from social media sites is far easier to get than internet traffic from the search engines but the downside is that this type of traffic is not as targeted as online traffic that originates from a typed query into a search engine.
So what exactly do I mean when I say that it is not as targeted?
Well if you’re are to consider a prospect who arrives to your website via a particular keyword query typed into one of the search engines such as Google, that particular action means that such a person is actively seeking more information concerning that topic. Such a visitor to your site is in what I consider a proactive mindset related to that keyword! In other words they are prepared to act upon information associated with that keyword.
Curiosity Prospects
In comparison a visitor arriving from your site from a social media website was most likely drawn there by incidental curiosity. What that means is that that particular visitor probably noticed an intriguing article or post title of yours, with an equally intriguing summary which linked to your site. It was curiosity that led them to your site. Such visitors are what I term Curiosity Prospects! Curiosity Prospects land on your website by accident rather than through active query-word engagement on their part. Such a visitor is less likely to purchase whatever you’re selling because they didn’t arrive with that mindset. This explains the strange phenomenon of link bait pieces that draw hundreds of thousands of visitors with very little conversion rates (i.e., few become buyers).
The Numbers Game
The driving force powering social media websites is captivating information! Riveting articles that literally grab people’s attention by the scruff of the neck! Thus getting any meaningful conversion rate from such Curiosity Prospects depends on a massive flow of traffic! The bottom line is that social media web traffic is a numbers game revolving around link bait; an art that some internet marketers have perfected to precision.
There’s a definite science to writing great link bait pieces, however just like any other article, success of that aspiring link bait piece hinges on the title or headline! When one thinks of social media websites the word that immediately springs to mind (or at least it should) is BUZZ!
BUZZ
A great link bait article has to generate a lot of buzz. In order to do that, the article should:
Stir controversy;
Be Breaking News of significance in whatever field;
Be well written;
Be polarizing;
Captivate or educate the reader;
Be witty or funny;
Be shocking (not disgusting mind you, there is a difference):
Be well formatted;
And lastly, the body text of the article should follow through on the premise of its title in a logical easily graspable step-by-step fashion.
Buzz Transferring Positive SEO Influence
So what, if anything are you getting from that Web 2.0 traffic, if those vast numbers of social media Curiosity Prospects don’t convert into purchasers? Well the plain fact is, the sheer volume of traffic flowing to your website is soon going to get noticed by the search engines which in turn will increase your ranking and positioning on those very same search engines. By its very nature that increased positive attention from the search engines is going to get your website much closer to the holy grail of any online business…tons of web traffic from the search engines!
Organic Search Traffic!
From experience and to my manner of thinking, this is hands down the best kind of web traffic but it is also by far the hardest to attain or get. When I say the best I mean as far as conversion rates go! So what exactly is organic internet traffic? This is that online traffic that originates from a search query conducted on the search engines. Say for example you’re a prospect who is looking to start an online home business what online actions could you take to find out such info? Well it is highly likely that the first thing you would do is query the search engines (such as Google, Yahoo, MSN or Ask.com) with a keyword term that might be any of the following: internet business; internet marketing, home business or online marketing, etc. The returned results for that query are what we refer to as organic listings;which are the websites listed in the Google Index (and the various other search engines). Obviously the higher the website is listed on the Google Index or SERPs (search engine rank pages) the greater the chances of that website being picked by a searcher for the queried keyword they typed into the search engine.
In reality you’d want your website to be listed on Page 1 or Page 2 of Google (as the largest search engine Google shall be used as the default term for all the search engines). And why would you wish to be on Page 1 or 2 of Google? Well pause a moment and consider how often do you search deeper than the first two pages for any online query. I’m guessing rarely if ever do you go beyond Page 2,that’s why you should aim to get your website listed no deeper than Page 2. Ideally however the best position to have your site listed for any particular keyword is the 1st listing on Google Page 1. However that is in a perfect world; but truth be told, once you are on Page 1 of Google you are made or at least your site/blog is!
Getting organic traffic is priceless because the person who typed in that keyword which ultimately led them to your site (via your listing on Google) is a deadly serious prospect. They are actively searching for whatever subject your website is about. Such a person is the most likely candidate to purchase. An added bonus is that such an individual is quite likely new to that subject matter which led them to your site and they obviously wish to increase their knowledge on that particular topic. This type of prospect is the best kind of visitor to get to your site because there is a very high probability they have not yet been tainted by the profusion of other sites out there covering the same subject matter as yours!
Traffic From Article Directories
Submitting well written articles to article directories is another fantastic way to get web traffic. The upshot to this method, as compared to social media (Web 2.0) website submissions, is that you can avoid the time-consuming hassle of aggregating votes in order to get your articles sufficient exposure on those Web 2.0 sites to draw significant amounts of internet traffic. Not only do consistent article directory submissions build your reputation (assuming your articles are indeed worthy) you can build up quite a following. In fact some online marketing businesses have found remarkable success based solely upon article submissions to article directories! And finally another way of getting online traffic is participating in online forums targeting your intended market.

For most people starting out in online marketing, there is a common dilemma and that is determining what works and making it work for them. Too many Web sites owners are struggling with their linking campaigns by following outdated and worthless linking strategies. It’s no great secret that traffic is crucial for succeeding in online business. The trick is to know which options to use and how to drive traffic with articles, using social media sites, search engine optimization and networking opportunities. Once you understand how to make this work, you can master several different methods to drive steady streams of interested visitors to your website.
One of the keys for any web site success is how good the site is placed in the (SERPs) search engines results pages. Every search engine you find determines top spots by the same manner – link popularity. You’ll be able to accomplish this by using free reciprocal link exchanges. The more links you have that are from other high quality sites determine what kind of lead you have on the other sites to gain that sought after top spot. If you have set up hundreds of quality and relevant link exchanges, the more links that you have the better chance you have of getting good position. Therefore, free reciprocal link exchange is a good count. The most significant factor that Google uses in determining PageRank is the total number of links pointing to it which makes free incoming links exchange invaluable. The PageRank of the pages that such links are on are essential to your web sites ranking. This means that the more links leading to your site from other relevant, quality web sites, the higher the PageRank will be. An effective and mutually beneficial means to increase your PageRank is to invite other webmasters to take part in free incoming links exchange.
So, what do you do to get links for new and existing sites? You can find your competition and do a backlinks check on them. The sites that link to your competition are the ones you want to contact. If a site is already linking to competing sites, they’re probably willing to link to your site too. You can also create a great offer to either replace them or share space. On the other hand, Google’s PageRank system is Google’s way of measuring the importance of each web site. The sites that have a higher PageRank will tend to rank higher in the search results, and reciprocally they will receive more visitors from Google. When dealing with Google, free incoming links exchange is a great way. This is because they are the most popular search engine in the world which implies that advancing your site’s Google PageRank can be the way toward increasing the number of visitors your site receives. When used properly, link exchanges can greatly help with your targeted traffic, however if you get this wrong it can be a waste of time.

One Way Link Building
One Way Link Building is one of the most effective ways to enhance the value of your website as far as the search engines are concerned. The problem is it can take a long time to build one way links. You need to find sources that will provide you with a one way link. Unfortunately, many of the sources you do find will only be interested in reciprocal linking which is not as valued by the search engines as one way links. So how can you get many quality links to your website or pages that only go one way – your way?
Automated One Way Link building Services
Addressing the need for one way links and the difficulty in obtaining them, there are a number of online services that provide the solution. But not all are created equal and it depends on what type of site you are trying to promote as to the suitability and value of these solutions.
Some focus simply on getting backlinks to your website’s home page regardless of the page that is being used to provide that link. So you could end up with a page about auto-insurance providing a backlink to a site about language learning. The obvious problem here is the two are not related. So it is a disincentive for natural traffic from the former site to click through to the backlinked site to a site that has nothing to do with their interest. Worse still, smart search engine algorithms are also looking for relevancy between one site linking to another and will score the link value accordingly.
Deep Linking
Another problem is the links may only be pointing to your web site’s home page. While this was adequate in the past, the major search engines now want to see some links to actual pages that users found to have value. For example, if a guitar tutorial site has a page with instructions on how to play a popular song on the guitar, there will be people that would want to bookmark that specific page for later reference. Similarly with links search engines expect to see links to specific pages of value. This is known as deep linking. And not only does it carry weight with search engine optimization and value of your site, it also helps get those individual pages ranking in the search engine listings on their own merit. This means more traffic to your site’s home page and more traffic to your site via deep linked pages. If you have a useful site with pages of useful content, you’ll want to get a backlink solution that will build deep links to your site from other sites with relevant content.
Link Contextual Relevancy
Not only do you want one way links that are deep linked, but they should be deep linked with contextual relevancy. For example it would be relevant for a guitar tutorial web site to be linked from a musician’s website discussing guitars and music.
You Should Not Neglect Building One Way Links Manually
Are you making a concerted effort to create quality one way links regularly? If you are then you’re already doing the right thing and I recommend you keep doing so. What does and what doesn’t work in SEO depends on what the search engine algorithms are programmed to do, and this is a constantly evolving area. So personal SEO effort should always be made to bolster and secure your site’s SEO value. A good backlink service will attempt to build backlinks as if web site owners naturally created them. This is what you want to not only give you immediate SEO value, but hopefully to preserve it in the future as search engine algorithms are updated. Therefore backlink services should be looked at as an enhancement to SEO not a replacement for manual SEO. If you get the right service, it will help you get quality, contextually relevant one way links quicker. It will save you a lot of time and effort in the process. And it will help you seriously build your site’s rankings and authority much more quickly.

How to traffic your website by using search engine optimization? Here are some of the tips for you to improve your webpage’s ranking in search engines.
Tip 1 Use search engine friendly URLs. These are URLs which are relate to the content of your webpage. For example, if your website is about golf clubs, then your URL should include keywords like “golfclub”.
Tip 2 Create keyword-rich domain name. If it’s not possible to use a popular keywords in your domain name, you can use a lesser known keyword e.g. “cheapbutqualitygolfclub”
Tip 3 Section your webpage’s headlines in H1 tags. Ensure that your H1 tags are keyword rich as well to better traffic your website.
Tip 4 Try to limit the amount of javascript used on your webpage. This is especially so if they are placed near the top of your website’s source code. Javascript code will lower the relevance of your website’s content and may delay the search engine’s effort to find your website.
Tip 5 Have a well-written and keyword-rich meta tag description. For best result, have the description less than 200 characters.

One of the biggest challenges facing many websites is how to generate traffic. There are a number of different ways to address this, but pay per click marketing is one of the fastest and most cost-effective ways to bring qualified traffic to your website.
What is PPC? Defining Pay Per Click Marketing
Pay per click marketing is a form of Internet advertising where the advertiser (company) bids on keywords and pays for clicks on their online ads. For the most part, PPC advertisements display on search engine results pages (SERPs) and run at the top of the SERPs and also show on the right hand column. The most popular paid advertisement program on the Web today is Google AdWords.
What are the Benefits of PPC Marketing?
Pay per click advertising gives advertisers a distinct means of putting their message in front of an audience that is actively seeking a product or a solution. The main benefits of advertising with PPC are:
Speed – Advertisers can push their ads out to large numbers of viewers and get instant traffic in a matter of hours, often minutes.
Targeting – With paid advertising, a company can choose to only bid on specific keywords, ensuring that their ad only shows on highly-relevant searches. Advertisers can also choose to target only those searchers in a particular geographical area.
ROI Measurement – PPC lets advertisers track the performance of their ad by measuring ad impressions, clicks, cost-per-click with Web analytics software. In short, a company will know exactly how much they’re spending and how much they’re making from PPC.
It’s important to note that the foundation of every successful pay per click marketing campaign is keyword research. If a company fails to select the right keywords to create a campaign around, they can waste a ton of money bidding on unrelated search terms and thereby targeting the wrong customers. Nothing will cripple a PPC marketing campaign more than improper or incomplete keyword research.
There are a number of tools to help you conduct your keyword research, like the free Google AdWords Keyword Tool, so be sure to use them to help inform your keyword research before you start your campaign.
Pay Per Click (PPC) VS Organic Search Marketing (SEO): Which is Better?
Organic search engine optimization refers to the results that show in the search engine that are not paid to display. They show up “organically,” hence the name. Both paid and organic marketing approaches can work to complement one another for advertisers, and it’s recommended that companies employ both methods of Web advertising, but there are distinct differences between the two.
Here are some things to consider in regards to PPC marketing vs SEO:
PPC advertising results are more immediate that SEO, which takes longer to implement and can take months or years to show results.
Pay per click marketing lets you test different landing pages and ad versions, so you can determine which work and which don’t.
With PPC, you can choose where you ad places for how long and during which times of the day, which isn’t possible with SEO.
Pay per click marketers don’t have to adhere to the rules of best SEO practices. PPC ads can be optimized for conversions, not search engines.
As you see, pay per click marketing has some clear advantages over SEO. But that’s not to say organic search marketing isn’t extremely effective and necessary for most websites. In fact, organic search marketing is a better long term option. But in the short term, nothing is more effective for bringing qualified traffic to your website than PPC marketing.

Marketing is the Key to Generating Traffic to Your Website

This KEY opens the door, which may provide golden riches, for you and your family. That key is: MARKETING.
You’ve finally gotten a website up and running, somehow. If you haven’t reached the website stage yet, you need to find a good software package for beginners and experts alike. Find one that you will not outgrow as you gain more experience.
No website, no online home based business.
The Internet is changing so fast that you need to be constantly vigilant in trying to keep up. This means lots of reading and research.
This article is primarily for those who have a website up and running and are frustrated about what to do next. Even if you don’t have a website but are thinking about it, you should read this article, as it may help you in your quest to build a successful home based business.
It will focus on SEO – search engine optimization. SEO is a necessary part of generating traffic on the web but it is only a part. Some of the promotions that you see, regarding SEO, act like it’s the only thing that will work. Just buy their program and all will be well.
Start picking out your yacht and million dollar home. Not so fast. Let’s look behind the scenes a little at SEO.
Keywords are very important to the search engines, in terms of getting a good page ranking. The higher the ranking, the closer you are to getting your title displayed on the first few pages of the search engine results.
Most people don’t usually go beyond the first three pages of search engine results, so if your title is on page 1,000, you can pretty much forget about the search engine doing you any good. No one will even see your title even though the search engine picked it up.
One keyword that is very popular is: “home based business”. With prices of everything constantly going up, everyone is looking for a home based business, to help supplement their income. No commute, work at home, set your own hours, make money. What could be better than that?
If you go to Google and enter “home based business”, you will get about 107,000,000 search engine results. That’s right. I said “million”. If you enter “work at home”, you will get about 307,000,000 search engine results. These numbers may be even higher since this article was written.
There are usually about 10 search engine results per page, so three pages will show you approximately 30 search engine results. If you haven’t found it by then, most people will go elsewhere. Maybe you clicked on one of the search engine results and that led to other links not related to the search engine. So you chase those leads. You may or may not return to the search engine results pages.
If you intend to use “home based business” or “work at home” in your title, you need to come up with a term that is less popular and will not generate so many search engine results.
The title that we use for our home page has only 447,000 search engine results for that title and, somehow, by using various marketing services, we managed to become the fourth listing on the first page, as of this writing.
Maybe we have a chance with the search engines if our title becomes popular. As of this writing, our title popularity, and the resulting hits to our website, remain to be seen. Everyone says to be patient (you will need a LOT of that), so we’ll see.
Google is always refining their search results rules, so as to make a visitor’s search more relevant. Tomorrow, we may be on page 1,000, but you have to keep trying to make the content of your web pages relevant for your visitors.
If you’re going to build a home based business on the Internet, you need to educate yourself about the inner workings of the Internet. It’s fascinating how it all works and you will discover many things that you won’t read about in books but you must put forth the effort if you want to be successful.
Check out the SEO packages that you come across and put a toe in the water. Pick one that suits you and try it on for size but don’t expect results overnight, in spite of what the ads say.

1. Promotions touting how much money people can make in a week or a month.
2. Building a small and profitable home based business instead of trying to build an empire and failing.
3. Deep Linking – getting visitors to go beyond the home page on your website.
4. Building mailing lists.
5. Using analytics programs to measure where traffic is coming from and where it goes on your website.
6. Some thoughts about Google AdSense. My personal experiences but there are good books on the subject.
7. Using links, not deep links, to generate traffic. There are one way links and reciprocal links. You need some of both.
8. Writing articles or having them written for you (ghost-writers).
9. People not answering e-mails. People not responding to e-mails in a timely manner is a pet peeve of mine. Sometimes, they don’t respond at all.
10. Subscribing to website marketing services.
11. Paying for ads.
