From the last decade or so web designers became very popular and they have been hired to provide quality design mechanism for the websites to make it look better. Even after so much in demand web designer companies have to bear the loss of image due to some misconception about their work and culture.

This article will try to highlight some of these misconceptions and try to correct them. Here are some:

Web designers know nothing about art.

This is one of the biggest misconceptions that can ever prevail about web designers Singapore. The kind of work they provide is totally a kind of art in its own sense.

Web designing is all about making things pretty, not functional.

Web designing also includes use of graphics and pictures to make the website look attractive. But that is only a small part of work that a company like www.multivalue.com.sg do. Creative web designers make the website functionality really easy.

Web designers aren’t progressive.

This one is so false I don’t even know where to start. Web design has changed so much over the last year alone! The big push behind these changes and the group responsible for the way the web looks is—you guessed it—freelance web designers.

This is another big fake thing that prevails in the market about web designers. In reality web designers and web developers aims at a single target and do all things to achieve that target. So how can this be possible that web designers don’t work well with web developers?

Web designing is all about making huge expenses.

Well it’s not actually. You may have to incur an initial cost of designing your new website but that’s obvious. It is just like any other expense that a business might have to bear at the time of incorporation. But people interpret it wrongly.

Web designers don’t need any type of training.

This is partially true and partially false. Some of the web designers in Singapore are so naturally talented that after learning some basics of web designing they can provide the service that even an experience designer can’t provide. But such web designers are very few. Most of the web designers have to undergo some training to become professional web designers.

Web designing is easy to learn.

Learning languages of web designing like HTML, CSS etc. is just like learning Spanish, Italian etc. Every single language has its own basic and principles to work out. It’s not that easy task to recall all the methods and procedures of different languages at the time of creating web design.

The Surprising Truth About Ugly Websites…

Ugliness has never looked better. I have spent the last few days examining a surprising trend in web design that has made ugly websites look absolutely irresistible. No, it’s not the bolded, 18 point Times New Roman font shouting at me as I access the page that has me excited, nor is it the harsh colors that have actually managed to make my eyes hurt and distort my vision. In fact, it’s not even that logo which is so pixelated from being processed, resized, saved, and edited so many times that it appears to be blurred to protect the identity of the company who owns the website that has me singing the praises of ugly websites. What is it?

Ugly sells.

That’s right – ugly websites are surprisingly effective in making money. As a person who puts business before technology, a profitable website is a website that is an unbelievably attractive website to me.

The Case of Plenty of Fish

I was struck by an example of just how effective ugly websites can be this past week as I was browsing through some web related news. I stumbled across the story of Plenty of Fish (http://www.plentyoffish.com/). This is a very plain looking website that offers a free online dating service much like Match.com (but without the subscription fee). There was nothing specifically impressive about the website that stood out to me, in fact the site was actually rather ugly.

What caused me (and I am sure several other people) to take a second look at the website was its reported earnings. It is reported that this website brings in over ,000 from Adsense – in one day. Yes, you did read that correctly. For those of you counting, that is 0,000 per month and nearly one million dollars in just three months.

The example of Plenty of Fish led me to consider how an ugly website could be so successful. As I looked around, I suddenly realized that this was not the only successful ugly website. Ebay is unbelievably ugly; Craigslist has never won an award for innovative design, and IMDB has never even bothered to format their text out of the default Times New Roman. What is it about ugly websites that makes them so successful?

The Ability to Convey Trust

A while back I wrote an article on Controlling Your Visitors Eyes (see resource box below). The main point to this article was that you have less than a second to convey your marketing message to your visitor, and that every aspect, from your font selection, to the colors, navigation, and layout of your website plays a part in conveying your marketing message.

When I wrote this article, I had beautiful, CSS designed websites in mind. The idea that an ugly website could present a positive message never crossed my mind. Yet the fact is, ugly websites do have the ability to present the perfect marketing message. What is that message?

You can trust us. We are a family run business and do not employ a marketing team. Our website is simple, but functional. Most importantly, our goal is to serve our customers, not necessarily learn HTML.

As Internet professionals, we often forget that a large part of our society is actually afraid of the Internet. Although online
shopping is growing, most people still have concerns about online security and the impersonal nature of the web. Most people do not know how to surf efficiently and use only the default tools that are given to them when they take their computer out of the box.

And this is one reason that ugly websites can sell. The lack of professionalism and a polished look leads one to believe that they are dealing with an individual. Websites cannot be trusted, but individuals can be trusted.

Function Over Form

Although the above theory holds true in many examples, I believe there is more to the success of ugly websites than just conveying trust. Many of the websites that I referenced above have one underlying trait that can be attributed to their success: they are extremely easy to use.

Google is probably the best example of how functionality over form can lead to success. When Google initially launched, every other major search engine was in the process of transforming themselves into a portal that would offer users all the information they could possibly want, and probably more than they really would want. Google, on the other hand, made their website ridiculously simple. There is one purpose to Google – to search the web. Nothing else was there to distract you from this one goal. It certainly did not hurt that Google was able to serve up relevant results, but the simplicity of the system was key to winning over users.

Sites like Drudge Report and Craigslist can also trace much of their success back to their functionality. Drudge Report is a very simple website that is essentially a collection of links to news stories. Most of the time, the Drudge Report does not even link over to content on their own website. Users who wanted an interesting collection of links to various news stories could find them all on one simple page. Craigslist also boasts simplicity. The website is simple to browse, simple to post, and simple to use. Because of its simplicity, it grew.

The general lesson here is simplicity. A beautiful website may draw a user in initially, but a simple website will keep your users coming back. If one of your users gets lost trying to navigate your website, check out of your web store, or find simple contact information, then you unnecessarily are increasing the chances that this user will simply leave.

Ugliness By Application – Not By Rule

Although ugly websites are often easier to use and can convey a unique sense of trust, ugliness is not a rule that should apply to all websites. In fact, the vast majority of websites can be improved by adding formatting and focusing on good site design principles.

There are two general rules that you must keep in mind when building your website: 1) What type of message will resonate with my visitors, and 2) Is the site easy to use?

Knowing the answer to the first question is knowing what type of visitors you are trying to reach. Are your visitors web-savvy and thus looking for a well-designed website? Are your visitors uncomfortable with the impersonal nature of the web and just looking for a simple website that is easy for them to use? Are your visitors scared of using online payment processing, or do they prefer the convenience of paying online where they do not have to talk to a person?

The second question is a rule that should apply to every website: functionality is more important than the design of your website. This does not mean, however, that a beautiful website cannot be easy to use. What this does mean is that you should never sacrifice the usability of your website for a fancy design effect or a more visually appealing website.

In Conclusion – It’s Not Necessarily Ugliness That Sells

As website owners, it is very easy to get caught up in the design of our websites. We want to present our businesses to visitors in the best way possible, and as we get familiar with web technologies and design techniques, it is easy to focus solely on the design of a website from the standpoint of what looks good rather than the message our website conveys.

What we need to keep in mind, is that websites are meant to be used – used for reading, used for networking, used for shopping, etc. Websites, like any other marketing tool, convey a message and are an invitation for visitors to trust us. Our design needs
to reflect this.

Take a moment today to look over your website. Is it really easy to use? Have you been more worried about the look of your website than its functionality? Would it be more effective if it were simpler in its design?

When someone in the dental industry talks about dental marketing online, they usually are referring to website design.


But in the overall scope of internet dental marketing, a website is just a simple step to an effective dental practice internet marketing system.


The truth is, a dental website needs the same amount of attention as a good postcard, or phone book ad. Pretty pictures and fancy animations do not effectively CONVERT the visitor into a patient, and that’s the whole purpose right?


You have to look at your marketing as a series of steps to a door. Your goal is to get a patient to walk in the door.


The goal of one step then is to get them to move to the next step, and so on.


What is the step before your website. It can be a Google search, a link form another website, or even a mention on a direct mailer that creates a website visit.


Once the patient is at your website, what is the next step for them? Are they supposed to call your office? Are they supposed to download your new patient forms? Are they supposed to email you?


Is it clear what your patients need to do to take the next step?


Many dental marketing website designers will load a website up with links, animations, videos, and little to no text. This causes a visitor to click through a bunch of pages, but really offers no direction when it comes to what the next step is.


The dental website design with a lot of options and pages may work well for a retail site like Amazon, but when there is a specific purpose for your patient everything on your dental website should point them in that direction.


In fact, if you want to provide your current patients with a lot of information, but drive your new visitors to become patients, why not have 2 websites?


Domain names are cheap, and it would be as easy to have one dental website as it would two.


You could them post all of your information about Invisalign, or information you use in marketing dental implants on one, and on the other, post a structured presentation that takes your patients step by step through the information you want to present.


Your new patients will then be directed through the presentation, and have it be clear what the next step is.


This new patient website would then be the one you print in your yellow pages, and make your Google ads link to. It would be a great first point of contact for your practice.


Your current patient website would be printed in your newsletter, and on any correspondence you give to your current patients. You could even post it up in your office as a special “patients only” website, adding exclusivity.


So, when you are considering dental website marketing, ask your designer about two different websites, and make sure to do the “mom” test. That is, have your mom look at the site, and ask her what she thinks the next step is. This one never fails to give you a DUH moment.

Although it may appear to be incredible for may, a statement issued by the lead generation firm Clash-Media claims that over 50 per cent of a typical marketer’s funds are now spent on online promotions. This startling revelation came to the fore following the release of the firm’s “Online Lead Generation (B2C) Report 2008” conducted in May this year in association with E-consultancy.

However, many feel that the release may be a misinterpretation of the survey report.

The report states that the survey respondents confirmed that a large part of the funds meant for lead generation is being spent on online marketing. According to them, while 53 per cent of the funds are spent on online promotions, 43 per cent is used up for offline promotions.

I personally believe that the study’s approach appears to substantiate the view.

According to the release, 73 per cent of the people who were surveyed confirmed that they patronised ‘online or multi-channel’ routes to promote their services and products. In comparison, 23 per cent of the respondents said that they utilised the online channel and the remaining four per cent relied only on offline promotions.

This goes on to establish that most of the persons surveyed mainly concentrated their marketing promotions through online channels. I found that the additional part of the abstract provided with the report was more precise. Following are the conclusions of the report issued by Clash Media:



Seventy per cent of the respondents confirmed that their firms used search engines optimisation, paid searches as well as e-mail marketing
A decrease in offline marketing modes, while growth was reported in print media and TV ads. Nine out of 10 respondents agreed that online lead generation was growth area.
Sixty-five per cent of the respondents agreed that the print media was the most popular vehicle to engender consumer leads.
The three most frequently used online techniques to generate consumer leads were natural lead (comprising 79 per cent), e-mail marketing (75 per cent) and paid search (71 per cent).

Hence, it may be concluded that the online marketing spending that has been witnessing a spectacular growth in the US will continue. And experts predict thay the double-digit growth rate is expected to continue for many years from now.

I’m not some sort of “Novice” to online marketing! But I will tell you this about Internet marketing. I really don’t think about what the specialized niche will be or even how saturated it really is. Almost always there is a different method of advertising some sort of product. If you don’t believe me than merely look into every one of the large businesses on earth. Each will have to transform their companies every now and then.

Now, of course they’ve famous brands in addition to money to their edge, but once you allow that fact to stop you, well then you must not be using Internet Marketing to start with. Marketing and advertising normally takes work and if you don’t desire to carry out the task you will not be successful! Put a stop to trying to find a quick million as your chances are better from winning the particular lotto. Here is my personal genuine advice for any newbie: Begin with a concept, produce a system around that thought, don’t give up! Most of all, you really have to believe that what you will be undertaking is right for you.

Dear aspiring entrepreneur,

Before we get started, I want to be very blunt and completely honest with you.  If you are looking for a “get rich quick” scheme or are looking to make 00 by next week, then you need to leave this page!  The information I am about to share with you is only for people who are SERIOUS about making a living as an Internet Marketer and a Home Business Entrepreneur.  So, if that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, then good luck to you with your future endeavors and maybe I’ll see you again in the future.

On the flip side, if you ARE ready to become a SERIOUS Internet Marketer and a Home Business Entrepreneur, then please read on.  Over the next few minutes, I am going to expose to you the TRUTH behind Internet Marketing and Working from Home.  I am going to tell you what it takes to become a successful Internet Marketer and I am also going to tell you what most Internet Marketing Guru’s fail to explain to you.

Internet Marketing can be simply explained as using various websites, search engines, and Internet Marketing tools to “market” (or sell) products, services, and information to people over the Internet.  Almost everyone you and I know uses the Internet in some form or another; whether it is to check their email, log on to their favorite social networking site, or to buy and sell something on an auction website.  People from all walks of life and of all ages use the Internet on a daily basis and in today’s troubling times, millions of people are now using the Internet for a NEW purpose; to make money!

The Home Business industry is a multi-million dollar a year industry!  Thousands of people are starting their own business from home each and every day and the number keep growing month after month.  Now why do you think this is?  Well there are a few reasons for it.  Home Businesses are:

Convenient – you almost never have to leave your home or office!

Profitable – many people make a good living working from home (most of the time over 6 figures)!

Guaranteed – working from home gives you a secure income and occupation that will never change regardless of how the current economy is moving.

With a home business, you never have to worry about:

Working 40 hours a week at a dead end job that pays you less than what you can live off of!

Spending hours in traffic every morning and evening!

Waking up at the same time every day doing the same boring routine day after day after day!

Wouldn’t it be nice to have the freedom to do whatever you want WHENEVER you want?  Wouldn’t it be nice to have the car or home of your dreams without having to worry about whether or not you can afford it?  And, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to provide for your family without having to run yourself into the ground to do it?  Well, ALL these things are possible when you start you own Home Business.

So how do Internet Marketing and owning a Home Business tie into each other?  Quite simply, to be a successful Home Business owner, you MUST know how to be an Internet Marketer.  This is the TRUTH that other Internet Marketing Gurus fail to mention!  You have absolutely no chance whatsoever of running a successful Home Business, if you cannot market it over the Internet; plain and simple!

The simple fact that you have stumbled upon this article means that you are either a) interested in becoming an Internet Marketer, b) interested in starting a Home Business, or c) you were just looking for something to read.  Chances are, options A and B are correct.  And if so, that means that you have most likely been searching for an opportunity for quite some time now.  You may have even tried an opportunity or two before.  Now let me ask you something; did it fail?  It probably did, right?  WHY???

Simply because, 99.9% of the opportunities found on the Internet today are SCAMS.  I’m sorry to say this but they are.  Some Internet Guru uses his masterful mind and dreams up some unbelievable opportunity and decides to market it.  It is so good and gets you so excited that you would be crazy not to become part of it!  So you get suckered in like everyone else.  And like everyone else, you successfully get scammed.  Here’s how it works:

These Internet Gurus have one sole purpose in mind and that is to make money.  Not because they want you to succeed as they have, not because they have a fool-proof system, and not because they find enjoyment in helping other!  All they care about is selling you their e-book for some astronomical amount of money!  Once they do that, their job is done.  They could care less whether or not you know how to market their opportunity.  They could care less whether or not you take the time to read their “million page” e-book.  The only thing they care about is taking your money!  Congratulations…you have just successfully been scammed.  That is the TRUE meaning behind the phrase “get rich quick.”  You don’t get rich quick, THEY DO!

Sounds familiar doesn’t it?  Of course it does.  This sort of thing happens every day to millions of unsuspecting people trying to make a living for themselves.  To be honest, it’s quite the lucrative business practice.  If I knew how to be a cold hearted, money hungry, ignorant scam artist the I’D dream up some masterful plan to scam innocent people.  But frankly, that’s just now me.  I’d rather work hard, smart, and honest.

So please, don’t get sucked in by another scam artist.  Stop wasting your time and money on e-books that are so lengthy and confusing that you have to keep reading them over and over again just to get the picture.  Stop getting left out in the cold and start a REAL Home Business!

A real Home Business requires several things:

An Internet Marketing strategy that allows even the most inexperienced person to start marketing over the Internet in a simple, easy to follow manner.

An investment of time and money to get your marketing campaign up and running.

An investment in products and services that will ultimately generate revenue for your business.

A system that can be duplicated so that other people interested in starting THEIR own business, can follow in the same footsteps as you.

Think of a Home Business as a fast food franchise opening up a new store.  What does that franchise need in order to accomplish this?  They need money.  They need to pay to have the new store build or they need to pay rental fees or remodeling fees.  They need to pay for equipment and supplies, and they need to pay employees to run the new store.

This same principal holds true with a Home Business.  In order for it to be successful, it will require you to invest your time and money.  Your investment will pay for products and services needed to successfully run your business.  It will also pay for advertising and marketing so other people can purchase those products and services from you.

A real Home Business also requires duplication.  Lets go back to the fast food store for a second.  So they’ve opened the new store .  It looks exactly like every other one of its kind.  They provide the same options and benefits as ever other store EXCEPT for one thing.  This particular store is only open on the weekends.  Now how successful do you think this store is going to be?  They are only open 2 days a week unlike the other stores which are open 7.  Do you think they are going to be as productive and profitable?  Probably not!  Here’s why.

Even though the new that there was already a system in place that was GUARANTEED to work, that was PR OVEN to be profitable, they decided for some reason to try something else.  They thought by doing something different and their way, it would be more productive.  Does that make any sense?

The Truth About Ranking your Site

Interesting and informative articles are in big demand, so it would be a benefit to your site if you wrote as many as you can and distribute them among the article sites. Many webmasters jumped on the ban wagon when Really Simple Syndication was first introduced; it was a great way of gathering information and supplying content on your site.

If you rank high in search engines, your website are shown to a huge number of target users. When choosing keywords choose the keywords that have a medium high number of searches, this will give you a nice niche market to attack

On page search engine optimization are things that you can change on your webpage. If you’re redesigning or starting from scratch and you have to use a brand-new domain for some reason, search engines do not have a schedule when indexing your site, some time you might need to wait a week and others you need to wait 3 months, it all depends on the number of links pointing to your site. Many search engines change their algoryhms and this can result in your ranking decreasing from the number 1 spot to the another spot which is not very favorable or in extreme cases disappear all together.

The common thing about many of these top sites is that they have plenty of good content and quality one way inbound links. It’s a known fact that Google relies solely on your link popularity and content. Good ranking is completely impossible without the effective link optimization plan. Link popularity means getting one way or reciprocal links pointing back to your website which will improve your search engine rankings.

Back a couple of years when search engines were in their infancy it was very easy to rank well, all you needed to do was change the meta tags to the keywords and descriptions you needed and you site was ranked. Meta tags are not as important today, most of the search engines today depend on more sophisticated ways of ranking pages, one of the most important ways is link popularity.

It really comes down to this, get quality content for your website and create a link plan that you will stick with. Here are a couple of great methods you can follow when building links.

1. Write articles and submit too many ezine sites.

2. Post your links to as many directories as possible.

3. Trade links with other webmasters in the same theme

4. If you have time join forums a place your link in your signature.

By using these methods and creating a schedule that you can stick to will build your sites rankings in the search engines. Remember slow and steady wins the race. Try not to rush this process, of course everyone want to reach the top as fast as they can, but you are dealing with natural search engine search, if you want to get to the top quickly pay for advertising. There are many e-books written on this subject so search the internet and buy an e-book that tells you how to do this step by step.

The Truth About What you Need to Do to Get Top SEO Rankings

SEO continues to be the talk of the town.

“Are reciprocal links good? Are one-way links better? How do I use Google SiteMap Submission? Does PageRank still count? How many blogs do I need? Who has a bigger index – Yahoo or Google? And does it matter? Which engine is more popular – Yahoo or Google, oh wait I heard MSN is gaining ground. Is it MSN?”

OK, I’m sure you see my point – there seem to be more questions out there than answers. And then if you do get answers, they sometimes conflict with what another SEO firm told you already or what you read in an article last month, or what your friend’s little brother did on his site that made him rich overnight. (Don’t laugh; we hear those stories all the time)

I’m here to answer these questions, in total and complete honesty. Are you ready? The answer is actually simple and applies to ALL of the questions above as well as any other question you may ask.

The answer is:

It doesn’t matter… because you are asking the wrong question!

OK, so what is the right question?

Don’t worry – I will tell you – the question is: Are you in the 64% or the 36% group?

Now for the answer …

I Don’t Know…Only You Know the Answer (and have to deal with the results).

Let me explain….

There was recently a study on the results of company’s outsourcing SEO (September 2005, by Jupiter). The results may seem shocking, but it is something we see every day in this business.

The study shows that 64% of companies that choose to outsource their SEO do not follow the instructions of the SEO firm they hired! I am going to repeat that again so the full impact reaches you — 64% of companies that choose to outsource their SEO do not follow the instructions of the SEO firm they hired!

They recognize the need for traffic (OK, off to a good start). They did their research and selected a company (nice, moving forward) and they plunk down the money (and if it’s an SEO company that’s any good, it wasn’t just pennies either). So far it all sounds good. What happens next -

it all falls apart.

The SEO Firm does their analysis of your site and situation, they share with you the most basic items to be fixed (which are often easy to fix with just a little attention) – they tell you this is of the utmost importance, it is the foundation of your whole campaign.

And what do you do?

That depends – are you in the 64% that does nothing and ends up asking all the wrong questions and whining months later when you are still nowhere? Or are you in the 36% that take action, treats their website and their business with the seriousness and commitment it deserves and then get to work with the SEO company to open the floodgates of traffic SEO can deliver? It’s simple and it’s your choice.

After you have made the commitment to be one of the 36% (something to ponder: how many of your competitors are in the 64% asking the wrong questions and doing nothing – and how quickly can you by-pass them when you are one of the 36% doing it right?) and you have taken the steps necessary to lay the foundation for a solid SEO campaign, you can then sit back and watch the company you hired, with their proven expertise bring in the rankings you desire.

Please understand, I write this article with a little humor to show the absurdity of the situation. I mean, would you hire a mechanic and then refuse to fix what he determined is the problem? No – you probably wouldn’t. I want you to understand not following your SEO Firm’s instructions can be just as detrimental to your business as ignoring a mechanic’s suggestion to fix that smoke coming out of the engine can be to your car.

The more SEO changes, the more it stays the same. The SEO winners are not the ones chasing each new trend and asking the wrong questions. The winners are the ones that commit to their SEO firm and their own business and follow the guidance of the firm they hired. They follow those firms right to top rankings.
