How to Get Your Blog Into Google News and Yahoo News

Google News and Yahoo News are the biggest automated news aggregators online. Millions of news junkies across the world read these news sources on a daily basis. If you want major exposure and publicity for your blogs, Google and Yahoo are where you want to be.

You will drive HUGE traffic to your blog plus you gain instant popularity from readers across the world! This is another great way to showcase your expertise and credibility to mass audiences.

Before you can submit your blog URLs, make sure to sign up for both a Google and Yahoo account (sign-ups are free!)

How Google News Works
Google “crawls” news sites and gathers articles. Headlines are crawled based on algorithms/certain factors: how often and the particular site where the story appears.

Google taps into more than 4,500 English-language news sources worldwide. There are NO human editors associated with selecting articles. They solely rely on online news outlets and online publishers to determine which stories have the most prominence/relevance. Google News consists of top stories and eight sections: World, Nation, Business, Sci/Tech, Sports, Entertainment, Health and Most Popular.

• Currently, Google News does NOT accept single articles or RSS/Atom feeds.

• Submit blog URL – You have to answer a few questions first before you submit your URL. Google reviews your blog to determine if it’s suitable for inclusion. They will notify you if your blog is accepted or if they need additional information. They cannot guarantee that your site will be added to Google News

• Google News Help Topics provides further information and tips for publishers.

How Yahoo News Works
Yahoo also gets millions of visitors to Yahoo News each day. Yahoo News works similar to Google News. There aren’t human editors picking out top stories. Main stories (that you find on Yahoo News front page) are generated by content partners. Internal search stories are found via the Yahoo News indexing.

• Fill out the Yahoo News source form. Yahoo asks you to fill out some preliminary questions. You also need to be able to “pitch” your blog. Yahoo asks you why you recommend your blog so make it sound good!

• Yahoo News will determine if your blog is suitable for inclusion – they will contact you if your blog is accepted.

How to Get Your Blog Accepted

The competition is stiff when applying to Google News and Yahoo News, and many blogs are rejected. However, there are some publishing tips to keep in mind when creating/writing your blogs.

• Original content – Unique content wins every time! Remember to make your content SEO-friendly and add relevant keywords. Don’t duplicate content on your blogs!

• More than one blogger/author – Content from one writer alone won’t do the trick – include guest bloggers/writers or ask another blogger to join you!

• Response time – Server response time (Bots look for pages they can index quickly and that load quickly for readers)

If Google News accepts your blog, Google suggests adding sitemaps to your blog. Sign up for Google Webmaster Tools and add sitemaps via the tools section. This is the easiest way to promote web traffic and for spiders to efficiently crawl your blog.

I have been blessed due to the fact that I am not a “true” webmaster, but I have still been able to achieve high search engine rankings for a number of keyword phrases that I need to dominate my niche markets. You can get great search engine rankings by following a few simple techniques and then by focusing on creating your site for real people. I share this information with you today because I constantly see programs that will help improve your search engine rankings, but I honestly believe that most of them aren’t very effective.

One example of the programs in which I don’t waste my time is the many link building programs across the web. Even though link building can be very important, my suggestion is that you just let inbound links come naturally. If you have a good website, then people will link to you. Also, if you get the chance to set up a simple affiliate program, then even more people will link to you.

I recently read an article that said that some websites with Google page ranks of 7 or higher will actually let you pay them thousands of dollars per month in order for them to link to your website. All I can say is: WOW! You better hope that the search engines don’t find out! If you haven’t heard, there can be some serious consequences for websites that have been discovered buying or selling link placement.

O.K., so I would like to cover a couple of things that you can do to get easy and effective SEO without spending a dime. Also, by following these steps, people will eventually start to naturally link to your website. Let’s start off by further explaining the power of having a blog on your site. A blog is a really easy way in order for you to build tons of good content for your website and to start getting more links. Many bloggers discover that they can get a lot of free exposure to their blogs in a short period of time.

Let me share an example: For one of my sites, I got “slapped” by Google for the critical keyword phrases that I needed to advertise my business. This means that Google wanted to charge me between and per click for those keyword phrases. In an attempt to fix things, I decided that I should add a blog to that same website. After only a few weeks of posting, Google had started ranking my website naturally for the same keyword phrases that they wanted and a click for! Why did Google change their minds? Well, it was due to the simple fact that I started easily creating pages and pages of quality content through the blog that focused directly on those keyword phrases. When it comes to SEO, content is king, and if you can start to grow a nice blog, then you will grow content fast.

At times Google and other search engines will start naturally visiting your website in order to spider, index and rank your pages, but this can sometimes take months to happen unless you follow this next huge tip. This tip is to provide Google and Yahoo with sitemaps to your website. It isn’t very hard to figure out how to do this, and your website will start to get spidered and ranked pretty fast, all for just providing the search engines with a “map” to your website! Just go to http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools in order to start submitting a sitemap to Google, or for Yahoo you can head on over to http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/. If you don’t know how to write a sitemap, then there are also programs across the web that will do it for you.

One last piece of simple SEO advice that I have to share with you is that you should still include titles and meta tags in the html of your web pages. You are also going to want to make sure that you “theme” these pages. Even though the search engines don’t rank your websites according to the titles and meta tags like they did in the past, the search engines will still use these titles and tags as a “guide” in order to see what type of content you are providing. When you provide these titles and tags, you will want to make sure you use similar keyword phrases within the body of your web page. For example, if you had a web page on grocery savings, you would want to maybe have the title say “The Grocery Savings Zone.” You would also want to make sure that the content on that page mentioned grocery savings a few times, and you would also want to have your meta tags include phrases similar to grocery savings.

Following these 3 simple techniques for SEO together will prove to be most effective. As you grow your blog, your new posts will be easily spidered, indexed, and ranked because of your sitemap submissions. Also, by providing titles and meta tags on your other web pages, you will easily allow the search engines to discover the main themes for your site. Before you know it, you will see high search engine rankings for a number of your pages all because you followed a few basic and effective techniques.

Yahoo! Site Map -an useful internet marketing tool

Yahoo! Site Map -an useful internet marketing tool

A website refers to a compilation of Web pages that can be typically accessed through a software package, commonly known as  a Web browser (one example is the HTTP on the Internet). These pages, which are essentially documents that are in the HTML or XHTML format (HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language), are accessed from a ‘common root URL’ – or the website’s homepage (as most people know it). From this homepage, the visitor/Internet user can browse or look through the entire website either with the use of the hyperlinks or the URLs of the different web pages.

Viewed on computers and other devices that are capable of connecting with the Internet (such as PDAs and cellular phones), websites can be grouped into numerous types, depending on their use or the services that they offer. Some of them include the following:

· Archive site – maintains and protects electronic contents that are valuable to the point of extinction.

· Business site – promotes a business or a service.

· Commerce or eCommerce site – offers goods for sale.

· Community site – allows people with related and similar interests to communicate with each other (either through chat or message boards).

· Database site – searches and displays a particular database’s content.

· Development site – provides data and sources that are related to software development and web design, among others.

· Directory site – contains wide-ranging contents that are usually divided into categories and subcategories.

· Download site – allows users to download electronic contents, such as game demos and software.

· Game site – provides a ‘playground’ where people meet and play.

· Information site – contains data or content that have the sole purpose of informing visitors (not for commercial purposes).

· News site – dispenses or distributes news and commentaries (similar to an information site).

· Pornography site – shows pornographic videos and images.

· Search engine site – provides general information and serves as a ‘gateway’ for other sites and resources (can also be a web portal site).

· Shock site – shows images and other materials that aim to offend viewers.

· Vanity site – a personal site that is run or maintained by an individual or a small group, the contents of which can be of any information that the site owner wishes to include.

· Blog site or blogs – registers online readings and posts online diaries or discussion forums.

· Wiki site – allows users to collaboratively edit the contents.

Yahoo! is perhaps the most famous example of a very large website. The most popular and widely-used website, Yahoo! is a mixture of the different types of sites – it is a directory site and a search engine site, among others.

Because of the enormous (and diverse) amount of information that it contains, the Yahoo! site map is an extremely useful feature in the Yahoo! website.

A site map is a web page that lists the entire pages on a web site. Organized in a hierarchical fashion, site maps can be in textual or visual form (a diagram or an image).

http://www.emaeketing.moneybizhome.com

The Yahoo! site map serves as a blueprint for the Yahoo! website. Similar to a book’s Table of Contents, the Yahoo! sitemap makes it easier for visitors or users to find specific information or pages on the Yahoo! web site without having to browse many pages, because the site map gives an overview or a visual outline of the Yahoo! web site, with each location provided with active links to enable the user to directly move to a specific location.

In addition, the Yahoo! site map allows web developers to put out links from across their sites, making it easier for search engine robots (or engine spiders) to find these pages.

Because the Yahoo! site map improves the search engine optimization of a site, this feature can be considered a valuable tool for online marketers, whose aim is to stimulate and direct traffic to their web sites.

Note, however, that the Yahoo! site map can only give you the ‘basics’. Because it is important for web marketers to ‘rank high’ on main search engines, an effective web marketing strategy that promotes your web site is also very much needed. Listed below are some search engine strategies to consider:

1. Write a descriptive page title at the top of your webpage that avoids ‘filler’ words like “the” or “and”.

2. Incorporate descriptive keywords on your home page, along with your business name. This is  called “keyword prominence”.

3. Include a Description Meta Tag at the top of the web page. This refers to the sentences (1 or 2 lines, with a maximum of around 255 characters) that describe the content of your web page.

These are just some of the many techniques that you can employ to get more users to visit your website. The important thing is to focus on keywords – and let Yahoo! site map do the rest.

Google Adwords, Yahoo! Search Marketing and a lot of ppc Strategies Exposed

Google Adwords, Yahoo! Search Marketing and a lot of ppc Strategies Exposed

I could write a lot of pages, maybe even a book explaining what pay per click marketing is and what it can do for your business, but I will keep this short and to the point. Pay per click (ppc) marketing is an advertising platform in which you bid an amount of money that you are willing to pay for a click.

Free 0 / 0 / / / Google AdWords Credit at http://www.adwordsexposed.com

When a searcher does a search at Google all of the ads on the right side of the screen are ppc ads. Google calls them sponsored listings. When a surfer types in a keyword, the advertisers who have bid on that keyword have their ads displayed. When one of the ads is clicked by the surfer they are taken to the advertiser’s website. The advertiser is charged at maximum, the amount they’ve bid. Most of the time they are charged less than what they have bid.  But they are never charged more than their maximum bid.

The bids can start at 1 cent and depending on the market and the ppc search engine, go up to or more per click. When starting off I suggest bidding very low. Ten to fifteen cents per click or lower is a good start. The higher you bid the higher in the rankings your ad is shown therefore increasing your ad’s visibility and your potential visitors. The downside is bidding high can cost you a lot of money and in some cases bring you way over budget. Be very careful when bidding.

In case you’re not sure how to generate that many keywords there are many tools on the net that will help. Some are free and some charge money. One of the best free tools is offered by a company formerly named Overture, which has been bought out by Yahoo! This tool can be found here. http://inventory.overture.com

Advertising your business at free search engines a.k.a organic search engines can take weeks or even months for your website to be indexed in their directory. It can take a lot longer than that to get a decent ranking on your search terms. The more competitive the keywords you are trying to get listed, the harder it is to obtain a decent ranking. This is one reason why ppc search engines have a huge advantage over organic search engines.

Getting More Done with Yahoo! Search Marketing Automation

Getting More Done with Yahoo! Search Marketing Automation

There is a trend in the search engine marketing industry toward account automation achieved via automated bid management tools supplied by the search engines. Yahoo! has some interesting automatic management options that we have found to work fairly well.

The first option is its Tune Up Campaign feature. With this option, Yahoo! will perform an analysis on your account that takes into consideration several factors, such as performance history, your budget, and a chosen metric (either impressions or clicks). You will be presented with a list of suggested changes to your campaign, which you can either accept or deny. To initiate a campaign tune up, click the button on the campaign detail screen labeled “Tune Up Campaign”.

Yahoo! also has a campaign optimization feature which automates ongoing bid management. The difference between campaign optimization and campaign tune up is that optimization is an automated ongoing process, whereas a campaign tune up is a one-time event. With optimization, you specify your monthly budget and Yahoo! will modify your campaign based on either a “conversion funnel” or a “business objective”.

The conversion funnel option spends your campaign budget based on a set of priorities that you set. These priorities include customers seeing your ad, customers clicking your ad, and conversions. Yahoo! provides a scale that runs from “Not important” to “High”. Specifying an importance level for each priority will cause Yahoo! to adjust bids differently.

For example, if your main goal is visibility by displaying your ads to as many people as possible, you would set the “Customer seeing your ad” option to a high priority. If generating conversions at a target cost is your top priority, you would set the campaign conversion priority to high and specify your target conversion cost. You can also set a target return on ad spend as your high priority event.

The business objective optimization option lets you specify the value for a parameter: your target cost per click, cost per conversion, or cost per thousand impressions (CPM). It is very similar to the conversion funnel option but is more straightforward. There is no setting of priorities – just a dollar amount for the most important parameter.

If you have conversion tracking in place and know exactly how much you can afford to pay per conversion, or what you can pay to generate the most total conversions at maximum profitability, then you should use the cost per conversion option. Ultimately, that is the most important parameter – what it costs to get a new customer or qualified prospect.

We have found Yahoo!’s campaign optimization feature to work reasonably well once it has run long enough to make the necessary changes. They are definitely worth a try. However, it would be a serious mistake for you to just set it and forget about it. It may be the case that Yahoo! technically does what you told it to do, but it could end up producing the wrong results. For instance, you might specify a target cost per click, which Yahoo! achieves, but it could shrink your total traffic so much that it becomes pointless. So keep an eye on things to make sure that Yahoo! is making adjustments that are going to help you reach your goals.

Yahoo Search Marketing if you already use Google AdWords

Yahoo Search Marketing if you already use Google AdWords

Yahoo Search Marketing accounts are similar, but not identical to Google AdWords accounts.  They are definitely worth investigating particularly if you are in a highly competitive market.

Why use Yahoo?

Cheaper Click Costs, leading to cheaper conversions!  I have managed to get conversions down successfully for one market (MLM lead generation) to £1.55 compared to £6.50 in Google.  This was an excellent result Less competition, as less advertisers bother using Yahoo – most use Google due to the fact Google has more traffic Yahoo is generally regarded as being used by an older, more mature market To reach the 10-15% that use Yahoo rather than Google Easier to use.  You may prefer to start with Yahoo than with Google due to the cheaper costs

Beware:

Yahoo uses search partners that are difficult to discover and opt out of unless you carefully monitor your web tracking Broad matching is the default setting, the keyword selection is not as sophisticated as Google If selecting Prepay (the default option) Yahoo will charge your card repeatedly until it has what it believes is sufficient credit on your account.  This amount appears arbitrary

How should I go about setting up a Yahoo Account if I already use Google AdWords?

Visit Yahoo Advertising and set up an Advertiser account Use the Google AdWords Editor to download your Google campaign, transfer across broad keywords (Exact and Phrase are not allowed for) and transfer across 2 of your best performing adverts for that ad group Add in negative keywords by entering ad group setting, tactic setting, choose show next to excluded words and add them in

Other alternatives include MSN/Bing which traditionally has a younger audience.
