Web Marketing – what is it?

Web marketing has become a real necessity for every new website that relies on online costumers for its survival. Search engine work in such a way that they display the best of websites (we will get back to this) on the search results so only they end up enjoying 90% of the traffic.

Recent changes made search results a bit more flexible as they work to display latest results along with high quality results along with different website in rotation in an attempt to diversities and spread traffic among a biggest variety of websites as possible.

Nevertheless, those websites considered “high quality websites” still enjoy the biggest piece of the pie. So, what makes a website a “high quality website” ?

Well, though nobody but Google and yahoo knows the exact parameters for grading a website there are some accepted ways to measure a website popularity… some you could influence and some not.

One parameter you cant influence it your website’s age… that is a parameter as it would be when considering a ground based business.. the longer the business is open the more credit it has. After all it shows that it survived the years which means it had returning clients supporting it which means it give good service and viable product. Much the same, one of the parameters when rating a website is its age… so, if you have an old website you have got one step already done… if not, you’ll have to invest extra time to build a reputation

Another parameter and one of the big ones is the amount of links pointing to your website. To understand that you should think about site links as you would an election where the people vote for the buy they like… that usually says they like he’s opinion and such. In the internet each link is also a vote and each vote is a vote of confidence in your website. Maybe its because you have great content and people want to link to it to share with their website visitor or maybe you have a great tool that they could use so they link to it to have fast access. Whatever the case is, each link is another step and could lead others to your website as they search for relevant information.

Building links techniques is a whole different issue and could be the topic for a hundred articles… you should choose you own way while maintaining a non-spamming approach. That is important if you don’t want your website to be punished by search engines fighting spam.. I personally hate spam and every time I fill those stupid spam tests “fill in the word”, I am reminded of that.

Maybe the only parameter as important as links is quality content. Many website owner build a site and leave it be… that is not the way to go about it. A frozen website would achieve nothing. The internet is alive, ever changing, ever growing with new content and if your website wont grow with it, it would be left behind… so, build great content pages and keep new ones coming.

Now that we know these parameters we could start web marking our website. Try to appeal your target audience by posting information where they might visit, writing articles, managing an active Blog, news releases, social websites and so forth.

Good luck, I hope you have found this article beneficial
