Cost effective ways to market your website:
    1. If you haven’t done so write a press release and submit it to http://www.prweb.com this will give you an initial surge of traffic to your site.
    2. Post ads online using free classified ads. These will hit your target market and provide valuable links back to your site.http://www.preferredpromoz.com/freeads-d…
    3. Write a keyword rich article that is relevant to your website and submit it to http://www.ezinearticles.com again, this will provide targeted traffic to your website along with backlinks.
Keep doing the things above and you’ll market your website effectively.

    Advertise your business on Google.
No matter what your budget, you can display your ads on Google and the advertising network. Pay only if people click your ads.

If you want to have more visits to your website it is impertive to have higher search engine ranking just in case you are not advertising it on conventional media.
Now the problem is Google Adwords would cost you a Bomb as your budget for pay per click has to be more and the keywords you will use may cost you alot.
Having said this the best way for free marketing is registerd your site to as many free webdirctories possible also find all the sites that exchange links.
Understand the thumb rule more scatt erd your links on the web better chance you have for higher rank in search engine.

The best way is to use Google Adwords. Get an account and advertise on it by ‘pay per click’. We do it with our company and for many clients. It really works.
You can also do this with Yahoo! of course.

Sonia, dplease do not buy any internet marketing products until you read the reviews here:http://specialgold.com/emi/index.html
There are so many good free marketing materials availible online!
Be careful how you spend your money!
Start writing or buying as many good articles as you can and post them to the article directories. Also start commenting on peoples blogs and in forums.
    Good Luck!

Your best bet (and most cost effective way of advertising) is to create good, focused content on your website that will result in search engine traffic. It takes time so it’s not a magic pill and it won’t work overnight, but there’s no better way to market your website than to create optimized, focused pages that your target market is interested in.
Your next best bet would probably be buying ads on either Yahoo Publisher Network or at Google Adwords. Both of those services allow you to bid on keyword ads that appear on many thousands of websites around the world.
If you’re selling blue widgets, you can sign up with those services and bid to be at the top of text ads that appear on websites with content about blue widgets. When a surfer on those sites clicks on one of the ads, they’re directed to your website, and you’re charged per each click.
Depending on your product or service this can get expensive, as some keywords cost more than $10/click, while others are more reasonably priced at .05/click.
You also might consider buying text links at places like Text Link Ads (http://www.text-link-ads.com/?ref=43700) or Ad Brite (http://www.adbrite.com/) as they’re reasonably affordable ways of promoting your site through text links, and you get some extra value from the incoming links that point directly to your site.
If there are existing forums related to your website you can also be an active poster, participate in conversations, and include the URL of your website in your signature line or profile.
You might check out Gadooney.com (http://www.gadooney.com) if you’re interested in such stuff, as the site is all about practical ways to get traffic to your site, make money, all that good stuff.

Everything depends on how much money you have to spend. Google Adwords is a great way to market your site, but can be costly over the coarse of a year. There are a lot of free directories that will get you more hits to your site. Also, marketing your site by word of mouth works too. Tell all your friends to tell of of their friends and tell just about everyone you meet that you have a website. You will get hits from that. Email marketing works very well too. Creating newsletters work and so does linking your site to other sites.
